What is the best sci-fi book you’ve ever read?
>>25632638I thought Olaf was that viking that ruled and conquered parts of Europe and maybe England
>>25632638He was the Last And First Men guy right?
Fire upon the Deep. Maaaybe House of Suns. The rest I liked but I'd hesitate to call it much but pulp. Peter F Hamilton's an okay author.
I haven't read that many sci-fi books and I'm a man of simple tastes so pic related.

>>25632638A True Story by Lucian of Samosata. The original.
the stars my destination
My Top 5:>UBIK>Childhood's End>2001: A Space Odyssey>The Time Machine>Fahrenheit 451
>>25632682This was epic. One of the best revenge stories too.
The Excession, Ian Banks
>>25632638A Voyage to Arcturus, easily.
>>25632708Based, this shit was absolute peak, the story of how a random alien became God. Crazy that, as a work tied to the Animorphs universe, it's technically a children's book. It is far better than 90% of adult sci-fi I've read.
>>25632932>UBIK>Childhood's Endumm... BASED department? Yeah... you're gonna wanna see this...
>>25632638Gonna sound Reddit here but Wells The Time Machine.
>>25634457And he did it with gamer skills. Which reminds me, Ender's Game is also better than a lot of adult scifi I've read.
Infinite Jest
Islands in the Net
only sci fi novel I read was electric sheep but it put me to electric sleep
>>25632638I love John Wyndham's novels. His logical approach to scifi is fascinating, although the quality varies, for example The Kraken Wakes suffers from his realistic approach in that it feels like not much happens due to all the action of the aliens taking place in the oceans where humans can't go. Or in the case of The Chrysalids just feeling rushed. But I thought his style shined in Chocky, where it lead to superb emotional resonance.
