Books about people who had unrealistic, utopian visions of the world yet managed to make significant strides towards achieving their goals.
>>25636284What's the book about?
>>25636877It's about the Walt Disney and how he reshaped the American media industry. There's also a huge part about how he hated being an entertainer towards the end of his life and wanted to be a Henry Ford or Thomas Edison like figure. Disney World was originally meant to be a relatively small tourist trap in a permanent city in Florida called EPCOT that was always 25 years ahead in technology and with a permanent population of around 60k people. He died before they could begin, so Disney World was made into a theme park with EPCOT as a smaller park. If he had lived another ten years there's a good chance it could have actually happened the way he wanted.
>>25636958His plan was not really viable. A company town where you're not allowed to own a car?
>>25636877About a guy trying to capture a consumerist market at the earliest of ages>>25636958>how he reshaped the American media industryThe talents he hired offered fun and beautiful pieces of art. He was just the moneybags
>>25637165Not saying it would have been viable, but Walt would have definitely tried to make it work. >>25637198Walt was directly creatively involved with every single project produced during his lifetime, even if he didn't always come up the concept of a project himself. He also had an eye for quality and implementing new technologies that many of his employees simply didn't have. If anything, Roy was the finance guy.
Very Reddit coded thread I've clicked on here. Maybe I was the Redditor all along.
>>25637256>wanting to reshape the world based on your ideas is Reddit.
>>25637249I could have done the same.
