GWX as a whole get a lot of love for being the 90's AU trio that formed the core of the Gundam experience of that era (they also still get a decent amount of love in the US, which is a market that Bandai ignores at their own peril). Not only did the episodes air back to back to back for those three years back when Sunrise was trying to pretend it was doing Super Sentai, they're also tonally completely different from the two Tomino works that come on either end, while any other OVAs that hit at the time were UC. SEED itself is a completely different monster, and each AU work after is treated individually.

If there's a redheaded stepchild of the franchise, it's G-Saviour, which gets ignored at every possible turn. Victory also kind of comes close since it's a Tomino AU from his depression era, it's treated wholly differently from Turn A and G-Reco but at least it still gets Gunpla love. There's also a few others that are ignored like Gunpla Builders Beginning G, Twilight Axis and Gundam Build Metaverse, partly due to how short they are. Even Gundam Evolve still gets love occasionally since Bandai still regularly reprints the Grand Slam sword that the Strike used in its Matrix short.
>>

>>
>>23794715
I can only assume it's similar to Judau's voice actor, smoked a lot, plus Garrod feels like a hard voice to do with age. He was still good enough back in Z, but his voice got notably worse in Z3 and by Crossrays it was wrecked.

>>
>>23806145
Some actors smoke because they like the effect it has on their voice. Of course the downside to that is that smoking can and usually does damage your vocal cords. Al Pacino, his voice has been damaged from years of smoking, to the point that he got his understudy to voice Tony Montana for the Scarface video game
>>
>>23803757
It is complete, anon. Yes it got canned and they had to wrap things up early and they couldn't include EVERYTHING they wanted to include. But the show's creators maintain that it IS finished, they basically told the story they wanted to tell
>>
>>23806342
Uh, no it didn't get canned. Everything that was airing in the block it was showing at got moved to ungodly hours (anime and tokusatsu). Rather than suffer through two more cour, they wrapped it up in one given the shit block they got moved to. It was doing just find until then. I think Zeonic or Mark translated the Takamatsu interview where he discusses all that.

>>23809819
Not that anon, but although there was a expectation the show would run for a full year, Sunrise had never actually secured that full year timeslot, which is why it got moved in the first place and then finished. It's why the staff insists t wasn't cancelled. Cancelled would mean they had actually secured a full year timeslot but replaced it with something else due to its performance, not just them extending its secured broadcast timeslot. Compare with the original Gundam which got it's run shortened then was replaced by Trider G7, another Sunrise anime since they already had that timeslot. In X's case there was the inital expectation even from the staff they'd have a full year since previous series had it, but the timeslot hadn't actually been secured.

>Turn A was well-received in Japan
And? It had poor ratings and it didn't sell shit. Hardcore fans might've liked it but its performance was certainly not helping the franchise.
>>
>>23813839
how did Seed get a high budget if Turn A was a failure?
if Turn A was a failure, why did it get a full 50 episodes?
>>
>>23813842
How did Turn A get a high budget if X was a failure?

>if Turn A was a failure, why did it get a full 50 episodes?
Because Turn A wasn't really a commercial show intended to make lots of money, it was made as a favor for Tomino, who has way more clout than X's director because he's literally the creator of the franchise. Sunrise and Bandai were willing to give him 50 episodes regardless of how well the show did because it was basically a gift made to personally appease him.

The reason why SEED got a high budget was because Sunrise and Bandai went all in on their attempt to revitalize the franchise since its numbers had went down significantly throughout the 90s.
>>
>>23813856
Turn A came after Endless Waltz, not X
>>
>>23813857
Endless Waltz is just an OVA, not a year-long TV show. But even if you disregard that, we can just ask this sort of question again just to piss you off again: How did Endless Waltz get a high budget if X was a failure?
>>
you don't need high budget to animate 3 episodes, each runs for 20 minutes like a regular TV episode
>>
>>23813842
>How did Seed get a high budget if Turn A was a failure?

Because through scrying they knew that Fukuda would save all of anime TWICE, and bring the ultimate ship Shinn x Luna

>and bring the ultimate ship Shinn x Luna

>>
>>23813870

>>23813945
Are you saying they didn't? And not to him, his wife. It was all revamped.
>>
>>23814037
It's not just Eternal that says that. It's outright shown in the episode where Garrod destroys the Colony Laser. He fires a warning shot, and the SRA troops say the X would need time for another shot, but then he just fires another warning shot. And then after getting Tiffa back he fires a third shot and blows up the colony laser. All in a single charge.

But, yeah, most games ignores this. Cross Rays was the first time I saw the Double X firing multiple shots without recharging referenced in a game.
>>
>>23813842
>if Turn A was a failure, why did it get a full 50 episodes?
Because it ran on cable.

>How did Endless Waltz get a high budget if X was a failure?
Because Endless Waltz was made off the back of Wing's success
>>
Regarding Gundam's money, Turn-A came alongside the MiA, First Grade and HGUC lines, overall that year was actually really high for Gundam in the 90s even though Turn-A itself didn't perform well.

A schizo who makes spam threads about X (usually the DX specifically) popped up a few years ago and, although he doesn't make threads as often now, he's pretty much decided to take over all X discussion in the board, poorly hiding his attempts at samefagging and constantly switching his schizo narrative between claiming everyone who calls him out is the same X hater boogeyman and the whole /m/ board somehow having a vendetta against X. This being 4chan, trolling towards this schizo was bound to happen, and since he's too autistic to back off or at least not make his presence known, X discussion here is pretty much ruined until the day he dies I guess.

it's dull as shit and a strong contender for worst fights in the franchise
>>
>>23844330
I like how the fights have this "lock and key" approach where there's generally a "trick" to turning them around. The only time I think they really get weak is near the ending, when they spam the Frosts' grab attack footage.
>>
>>23844488
Most of the fights were just variations of shooting beams at each other, or yeah getting grabbed by the bros. So incredibly barren I almost regret not fast forwarding.
>lock and key
That's not true unless the key is 'uhm just dodge the funnels bro'. This was no aldnoah zero.

If I had to squeeze out any praise for this it'd be for Garrod's character early on, was well written and easy to empathize with. Side charas were technically fun but not enough was done with them, hard to say if not axing it would have helped much.
>>
>>23844611
>Most of the fights were just variations of shooting beams at each other, or yeah getting grabbed by the bros.

No. What show were you even watching? If anything I thought you'd complain about the show overusing that format, with almost every battle starting with the protagonists losing until they figure out some way to counter the enemies. But it's one aspect I love about X that it has almost no relevant battles that are just the suits flying around beam spamming until something hits. There's always a pretty clear narrative in each fight (like I said, the exceptions are very minor battles, like the group of mobile suits they take down before rescuing Olba who infiltrates the Freeden and kidnaps Tiffa early in the show). Blowing up the lake in the Ennil arc, or during the first sea battle Garrod manages to drag the battle to out of the water and dodging the extended limbs, and in a later battle starts using beam weapons at point blank range to avoid losing power due to the water.

>That's not true unless the key is 'uhm just dodge the funnels bro'.
They're physical objects that need to move under that constraint so he can figure out their movement from that.

Note how screwed he was later on against Bit Mobile suits that didn't rely on just a single thruster for their movement, and he got his hit on the Rasveht exactly when he was in free fall and the Rasveht was flying towards him at full speed to finish him off, so couldn't just move out of the way.
>>
>>23844621
Its a classic format, nothing to complain about. Same about the solutions. MC loses but then X(dodges bits, gets out of water, realizes Y, insert literally anything) and wins. There's nothing to praise about it, it was generic and boring. It wasn't framed as some big discovery or the MC doing something particularly smart
>funnels
Yeah, just figure it out and dodge. In short: just dodge it bro, regardless of how it's framed that's what it boiled down to.
>bit suits
There's no reason he couldn't have figured out how to dodge these too (they were bound to a person so predictable much like the funnels. In fact you probably forgot but that was the exact point that was made in the funnel scene, that he can dodge them because at the end of the day it' a person controlling them and thus they're predictable. Nothing about the engines). Its just that plot demanded this not to happen.
>>
>>23844642
>It wasn't framed as some big discovery or the MC doing something particularly smart
Huh? The "master of adaptability" line is in reference to this battle flow.

>that he can dodge them because at the end of the day it' a person controlling them and thus they're predictable. Nothing about the engines)
No, what they say it's that they're predictable because they're physical objects in spite of being controlled by a Newtype. Yeah, they don't talk about the thrusters specifically, but do reference their physical structure in general lines.
>>
>>23844657
Yeah, as I said, exactly the same as the bit suits, the predictability was in their human control, not in the structure. Which is a shame now that you brought it up since it'd be a much better scene if the issue was the funnels themselves and not the human (though admittedly against the themes)
>adaptability
Didn't strike me as him doing anything different from the average struggling mecha mc, if there was more focus on it maybe the fights wouldn't have been so dull.
>>
>>23806620
>Takamatsu

What. But they say exactly the opposite. They're said to be predictable because they're physical, even if it's a newtype controlling them. It's the physical part that's said to make them predictable, not the Newtype controller part.

She's facing the wrong direction.

What causes this?

Ftfy, it's not a headscratcher.

Apparently all the sponsors withdrew their sponsorship somewhere during its run. I don't know if it was ever explained why.
>>

Mid is better than being shit like Wing
>>
>>23853736
Wing is the best though and way better than trash like X.

Both are 08th MS Team
At least X get more games
>>
>>23853766
>Wing is the best

at being utter shit yeah
>>
>>23853778
08th MS Team is just an OVA, and it's pretty popular for OVA standards. X is a mid Gundam TV show and the least popular one of the 90s, it's so mid that its desperate fans resort to comparing it to literal spin-off works like the OVAs in order to pretend it was successful.

You are a seething NPC who likes what the mega Jewish corporate tells you to like and to fit in
>>
>>23853944
Only an NPC would claim something as mid as X is one of their favorite shows.
>>
>>23853948
You're the one saying that popularity is the hallmark of quality.

That's bigger npc behavior than anything else, if you can't decide by yourself and need to be validated by overall trends.
>>
>>23854003
>You're the one saying that popularity is the hallmark of quality
No, if that was the case I would've said X was the worst 90s Gundam, not the most mid one, retard. But it's the most unremarkable ones that have the least amount of fans, and only NPCs like unremarkable things.

Stop replying to the wing fag.
He left the 3 threads shitting on Wing and came here to cope

Sounds like you're projecting a bit there, DuelX.

Oh cool where did you snag this cell? It looks way better than the show, but keep in mind Gundam X was made in the era of heavy use of photocopying.

The transition to computers in the 00 was actually a godsend.

Good thing Heero does not mind sharing spotlights.
>>
>>23867557
He doesn't give a rip about spotlights. All that matters to him is his mission.
