I was hoping they at least had the budget for the final fight, but well, the cursed armor just appeared and gone like that, Garzas is a glorified dark knight with some sand magic trick, and Garo didn't even get a new form to defeat him.
Honestly I have no idea what they are even trying to do with this franchise at this point.

Seeing Garo reach this state is a little depressing, but I'm also not surprised given the constant steady decline of each series. Shouldn't they start with a new series at this point? Garo should've been a one and done, with Makai Senki being a pleasant surprise. Divine Flame was more than what we could've asked for, and there were some parts of Vanishing Line that were awesome, even if the story and main antagonists were a nothing burger at the beginning, middle and end.

I watched the first episode of Akumaizer 3 a couple days ago. It's probably the oldest "hero" tokusatsu I've ever watched. I was surprised at how much they crammed into that single episode so they could establish the trio and the supporting cast as quickly as possible. I feel like if they were to remake or reboot it today, it would probably be episode 4 or 5 before all three protagonists formally teamed up, especially when the story is already so focused on Xavitan.

I've been reading through this manga and they keep bringing up this Southern Krauzer series where it's killing me that while some of the other homages are really on the nose I have not the slightest inkling of an idea what this one might be referencing.

This imagined toku keeps showing up since it's a major character's favorite but I don't know if it's actually based on anything specific or the idea of it being intended as a "really bad show" may have incentivized the author to make something up that wouldn't be perceived as taking jabs at a specific series. It's killing me not to know for certain.
I've seen some whispers about it being Jiraiya because the MC looks like Baron Owl but it seems like Jiraiya is looked on fondly.

Could be a general combination of things related to the genre that were somewhat infamous at the time, I know Denjin Zaborger went through like 3 to 4 retools throughout the show but that was the 70s. The only metal hero show that I kinda recall having quite a few changes was spielban like the side-cast and their little hideout vanishing completely at one point. And yeah he does look like baron owl but he was pretty cool

Toku seems to be undergoing a bit of a boom period, maybe because more normalfag friendly entries like theatrical movies and anime. I really wanted to like Juspion more then I did. It has fantastic on foot fights but....that's pretty much it. The Megabeasts are cool, but most of their fights suck, the show abandons its outer space adventures after like 4 episodes, Juspion himself starts out interesting by being a total buffoon out of the suit, but he suddenly becomes uber serious after getting a hair cut in episode 11 or so, with no development whatsoever.

I still had fun with it and its hardly the worst MH series I've seen, that would still be Jiban, but it really was nowhere near as good as I had been led to believe

My biggest surprise was the fact they brought back Kasaman recently. Also, damn having the five Maid Butlers together made me realize the design problem when compared to the original--- original Maid Butler was a lot more simple and monster looking, much more easier on the eyes. Project R.E.D is a new IP where every entry takes place in the same world, they technically have more freedom with this franchise as the next season is about a Henshin Hero that looks like a Pokémon trainer that catches kaiju
Because this franchise was replacing Super Sentai on TV they decided for the first show to be a reboot an existing IP but reimagined as multiple hero multi color show to make it vaguely similar O Sentai, ultimately the producer making the show settled on Gavan
Basically Gavan Infinity is some sort of weird transitional show where they're trying to be as safe as possible while the next season is them actually doing what they wanted to make with this franchise

Space Sheriff is in the title, and it's clearly a Space Sheriff series. But, yeah, it's not officially considered "Metal Hero", it's part of "Project Red" and "Project Red" won't stay just with Metal Hero references.

Ork was pretty good short movie, also Winspector's Mobile Knight Police also looks cool
But I keep on wishing that these short movies got actual shows rather than staying as movies because they end up feeling more as cool proofs of concepts for a larger project rather than a proper toku

Don't know if it's what you had in mind but recently I watched Lion-Maru G which was pretty fun. The crass and absurd comedy worked for me, the budget clearly didn't have much room for fight scenes but the ones they had were pretty cool and I like how Shishimaru had a good blend of annoying and sympathetic to work in the intent of his character and not be unlikeable.

What do you mean? Sentai had been operating at a loss for 11 years and according to the interview with Infinity's producer Kuji he said that Shirakura gave them a choice from a group old IPs to reboot and Kuji picked Gavan out of those. Hell in one of the interviews before the show started even Shirakura dismissed Gavan saying that he expects the second and third seasons of Project R.E.D. to show the franchise's strength rather than Gavan.
Shirakura just said he really liked Gavan which was why he included it in the groups of options.

I discovered a golden KitaQMan figure floating around on eBay recently. Anyone know where it came from? I don't recall this one ever being announced along with the Yabai Kamen, Ohgaman, Rookie and KitaQMan figures they made a while back. Is it new? Bootleg? It's such an enigma to me.
