>>23874024Lost Jerusalem, Xenoblade explained what exactly happened.
>>23845399IIRC, it was initially 6 Xenosaga games planned, remixing Xenogears' basic outline and refining and expanding upon it.>Soraya Saga recalls in 2010, when asked how she felt about starting the Xenosaga series, "We missed Xenogears so much but overall Xenosaga seemed a fresh start full of hope." Tetsuya Takahashi stated in an interview with GameSpot in 2001 that "Xenogears ended up differently from how I envisioned it. So we [Monolith Soft] have decided to hit the reset button and start all over again with a science-fiction [story], which will be presented through a series of episodes encompassing the beginning to the end of the universe.">"There will be six episodes planned in all, all of which are divided into three major parts. I already have the story plotted until the middle of episode five in my mind, but certain ideas may be perceived as old-fashioned as time goes, so we'll try to be flexible to changes."- Tetsuya Takahashi (Interview with GameSpot, Jun 8, 2001)Initially, the rough idea presented by a superfan would have looked something like this:
>>23874078But as development played out, Monolith Soft realized they wouldn't be able to make as grand a game as they hoped to fully cover each Episode, and thus began breaking it down into more manageable parts. They stop referring to the series only being "6 games" long, and instead change tack and state they would make as many games as necessary to complete the story.-As a result, XS1 was only about 20% or so of Part 1; not even half of what they aimed for. When aligned with events in Xenogears, XS1 ends around the point when Fei and co escape the Goliath Factory and arrives at Aquvy. In XS1, Shion and co escape Proto-Merkabah and arrive at 2nd Militia.-XS2's story was even shorter than XS1 in what it adapted from Xenogears. In XG, it starts from escaping Goliath and ending with fighting Inquisitor Stein. In XS2, it starts from escaping Proto-Merkabah and fighting Sergius XVI.At this point, Monolith Soft hadn't even managed to complete their original Episode 1, and they were now having troubles of all kinds. In order to try and cover some of the XG content they were adapting, they chose to release two shorts.- XS: A Missing Year adapts the XG part starting from Inquisitor Stein and ending after Billy's Arc.- XS: Pied Piper directly follows XS: AMY, but is barely into the Part 2 of the 1st part of the Trilogy. At this point, the superfan's chart linked shows how much of Part 1 of the Trilogy was made up to this point. As the same superfan puts it, XS 1-3 + AMY and PP ended up only finishing Part 1 of their planned XS setting, which was supposed to have been an expanded remix of Xenogears' story.- XS3 adapts XG's story starting from the Solaris Arc near the end of Disc 1, and races for the ending where we see Kadomony and the land of Genesis, which in XS3, is the final scene of KOS-MOS and Lost Jerusalem.
>>23874104Ultimately, as everyone knows, the deal with Namco for 3 more games was cancelled, and Monolith Soft was never able to secure enough funding and a publisher to complete 3 more games, which would have been new story territory. It's especially unfortunate as it's been mentioned by former staff that Monolith had just finally hit their stride with XS3, having a good blend of gameplay mechanics, action, and CG character designs much better than XS1 and XS2, and a mature engine to work with. Now that they had adapted the essence of Xenogears, they wanted to expand the setting further, including merging elements of Xenogears more directly and taking the background lore and expand on it. In addition, Takahashi himself said he already had a grand finale planned, having worked the story and setting backwards.Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be, and the last we'd ever hear of Xenosaga was the slim possibility of a Remake/Remaster, which would have moved everything from XS1 and XS2 over to match XS3 in mechanics, gameplay, visual design, and styling. But once again, Monolith Soft couldn't get investors, Namco wasn't willing to take the risk, and Takahashi himself had since moved on to what would become Xenoblade. Personally, it'd be interesting to see how extensive the redesigns would have been for a Remastered/Remade XS1 and XS2, on then next-gen hardware (the last comments on the possibility of such was back in 2018).

>>23897256It's just some anon that doesn't give any proper critique of the Xeno series or decide to talk to anybody on a adult scale regarding his view.Just types the same thing over and over without any details. Just ignore them Meanwhile I got a friend for my Kos Mos. More to come.
I guess is finally over.
>>23902042Oh God the cursed MK III with the speeder bike from XS II.>>23901578My take is Kevin left prior to events creating her personality core, and without all the data from Wilhelm. Added to that it was very early in micro resource AI development so she's kinda clunky and can't even learn to form a personality even with time. T-elos is the upgrade but ionno why she's so wimpy in comparison despite being an upgrade.
>>23901949Jesus aren't figma kosmos like grail rarity
>>23900119Probably. That English VA will probably be replaced by the next time KOS-MOS shows up.
They announced Switch 2 updates for all 3 XB games today.XB1's already out.
>>23902262and a another Xenoblade got announced
>>23902275And it’s not even sci fi
>>23902401so far
>>23902401the place they lived in is obviously a space colony
>>23902401Most common gundam setting, come on.
>>23902401Anon every entry in this franchise so far is either sci-fi or pretending to be technofantasy only to reveal it's actually sci-fi.
>>23902401The way they describe the magic-causing balls is almost dead on how core crystals in XB2 function beyond not summoning a sentient being along with it.There's also this thing. It looks to me like it crashed up through the earth from below rather than an impact crater from something crashing down into it. Given that we appear to be on the inside of a sphere, pretty good chance this is a space colony of some kind and that's the equivalent of Babel Tower for this story, probably from the not-Eldridge that collided or something similar.
>>23902589It do indeed look like the Eldridge/Durandal nose cone. Was there a colony ship in XBX? I never played that one.
>>23902401Every Xenosaga project is more generic than the last. Genesis looks so nonspecific it might as well be a tales game
>>23902589>>23902856>>23902864It’s almost as if…Hackahashi is trolling.
>>23902401>people unironically falling for the "new beginning" and "high fantasy"Come on, man.
>>23903061It’s shit
>>23903207Xeno a doughnut shit
>>23903207Are you implying the ship skewered through the entire diameter of the planet?
>>23904168no it just went inside.
>>23904221Nta, but so the eldrich smashed through Michtam or Eden II then we are seeing the beginning of the Zeobum civilization as they lived inside Eden II?
>>23904239I do not think people are suggesting it's intended to be the same planet so much as it's a striking similarity, and possible suggestion that this is in fact an object in space that a ship could collide with in the first place.
