>>23818694I think this is from one of the US space programs, I can't exactly pinpoint it. But it looks rad as fuck and would fit perfectly in something like gundam.
Have these made an appearance yet?
>>23834508I can't remember either but I recognise the machine, I think maybe skylab. The three pouches with nozzles are designed to be plugged into a socket on the machine and rehydrated.I think they use something similar on the ISS these days. The US and Russian space programs still independently provide food made to their own standards, though everything's marked in both Russian and English.Russian stuff still uses a lot more tins while US food is all pouches, which is curious. Every gram you can save going to space is worth saving.
>>23834557tomino made sure there were lickable ones even if they weren't specifically on-screen
>>23834557The vulva cups? They haven’t been invented in the last century or the early 00s’, so the anime industry hasn’t caught up to them yet. It’s still all straws and squeeze bags.
>>23834508>>23834839Yes, this is the Skylab food tray heater. It's actually considered better from a food and texture perspective than what is currently available on the ISS because it preserved texture and style better than the pouch-based reheat torts that the US and EU programs use. So you could actually eat casserole-like foods, or textured meat, or whatever. The reason Russia still uses tins is because they feel the texture and familiarity is better for morale. China just ignores both of them and put an air fryer in space. It's like 100x faster than the oven the US put in the ISS that nobody uses.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4ueigCxvU4
>>23835382And the reason the US uses pouches is because they believe it's better for quality control. It lets NASA determine exactly what is going up there and how it will be eaten in ways that minimize mess. Just because it means everything has to be boiled or stewed is no reason for NASA to change their opinion: just one bread crumb could kill everyone!
>>23835382Sasuga China.
>>23833460What are they?
>>23835382I hate my country.
>>23835226They look more like lotus shoes.
>>23834839So what possessed the west to decide it would be a good idea to disimprove their space rations?
>>23838056probably lack of funding
>>23838056Ever heard of the tyranny of the rocket equation? For every gram of weight you don't just need the fuel to get that gram of weight into orbit, you need the fuel to get the fuel to get the gram of weight into orbit into orbit. And you need the fuel for that fuel to get into orbit. And so on. Right now that fundamental problem is what has the entirety of spaceflight by the balls. Every single weight saving you can make adds up and is worth it. If that means your orbital restaurant's reviews drop half a star, so be it.Skylab is a very unique case. Skylab got to play with the offcuts of the Apollo program. That meant a spare fucking Saturn V to get it into orbit, which is why it was visibly bigger than a conventional ISS module is today. That meant getting crews up with Saturn IBs too, basically the upper two stages of a V. They were overkill, so weight was somewhat less of a concern than usual. You'd never build assets like that for the job they were used for. Skylab was also a more primitive station. Worse amenities, less entertainment, less communication with Earth, much lower overall volume of space to explore. The food had to play a proportionately bigger role in keeping up crew morale. Shorter missions than ISS habitation too, so less food per person needed. Also consider that the food tech isn't stagnant, it's still been improving anyway.

>>23838590At least Wille feeds some fresh produce to their members.
>>23838090>Every single weight saving you can make adds up and is worth it.then shouldn't astronauts be midgets? kind of like with horse jockeys?
>>23840384there's a shortage of trained midget astronauts so they have to make do with oversized ones
>>23838590>Toothbrush without toothpasteWhy?
>>23842712Maybe the toothpaste is already applied to the brush.
>>23840384Astronauts are qualified as fuck. Usually experts in at least two useful fields, and cross-trained on others as part of the process. The people that can meet those utility requirements and the fitness and health needs of the role, and want to be astronauts instead of buying themselves in their fields or making tons of money, are few and far between. Sending up a crew of the right people is more more valuable to the mission than sending up a lighter crew that's not the right people. You save the weight every place you can, but a saving that compromises the reason you're doing all this to begin with would be a false economy.

>>23843683What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

>>23849724It was the we got NERV at home made by Misato
>>23850196>the we got NERV at homeCould you rephrase that more clearly?
>>23850998Ok I was half asleep on the last Evangelion movie because it was complete pcrap, but basically Misato is tired of complaining about NERV colluding with demons and trying to destroy the world, so she decides to cash out her 401K and makes WILLE, an organization exactly the same as NERV but with the objective of sticking it to Gendo. When Misato left she also took the old NERV crew like Asuka, Ritsuko, Maya and all the other crew whose name I cant remember, so Gendo couldnt sue them for copyright infringement due to all the #Metoo allegations. So Gendo was forced to continue NERV with his army of Hebes (Rei Clones), and that old guy whos name I cant remember but whos probably also on the Epstein list. Misato then found Shinji and gave him a Gimp collar so he wouldnt be tempted to go back to the Hebe army. Hope this helps
