The Beatbreak writers really love the worf effect and I think it’s annoying.
>>23835178Pandamon is the only correct answer.
>>23835228>the worf effectArmalizamon I suppose, but I don't really remember Wolvermon being that strong.
>>23835247Me neither. Wolver is pretty much the Yamcha of Digimon like Fairimon was.
https://nyaa.si/view/2102942How was the 28th episode?
>>23835422>Jokermon's Owner is literally just Harley QuinnAlso how the heck is Gekkomon misremembering his own attack names
Gekkomon malapropismsアナナ開けエッジ (Anana Ake Ejji;) (from アナイアレイトエッジ; Anaireito Ejji - Annihilate Edge)I can only imagine that Anana comes from Ananas (アナナス) which means pineapple, ake 開け is commence/open. I don't know how it was localized, but I'd personally go with Pineapplate Edge完璧体 (Kanpeki-tai) (from 完全体; Kanzentai). The name of the second-last evolution stage is kanzentai, which literally means Complete/Perfect Body, and is officially simply written into English as Perfect. It's typically localized as Ultimate in the dub, but in Japanese, Ultimate is reserved for the final stage 究極体 (Kyuukyokutai - "Ultimate Body") which is localized as Mega. It may help to think of the Kanzen 完全 as "complete" in the sense of completion of natural growth, which is why it was originally the final stage, and Ultimate as the "pushed to its limits to evolve even further" state, as 究極 individually mean for something polar, extreme, taken to its ultimate, highest. 完璧 (kanpeki) and 完全 (kanzen) both mean perfect, but kanzen is more utilitarian in meaning of literal completion, while kanpeki is more subjective, like "That was perfect!".バーニアゼンカイ (Baania Zenkai; Vernier Full Throttle). He says it all in katakana which implies that he doesn't know the meaning, but he uses verniers as MonarchLizamon.
>>23836349That's the joke, Gekkomon can never remember his evolutions' attack names.
>>23836358Has he done it with actual attack names before? Because it's not like Armalizamon needed to say "dual-wielding" to use his attacks (in fact he's even malapropised about it while evolved)
>>23836368>Has he done it with actual attack names before?I can't actually remember if he has.
>>23836356Alsoバナナがないとエッジ (Banana ga nai to Ejji - No Banana Edge)And すし かつ (sushi katsu from the foods) for 押し活 (oshikatsu; fandom)Episode was solid, though it wasn't visually decent until the last 2/5 of the runtime.I'm more intrigued by GIFT than I was by Tactics. The ending reminded me of that Black Mirror episode with the artificial bees and weaponizing social media and online hate. They did the narrative thing where they had to properly establish to the audience that the MC is able to access his new form at will, that it wasn't just a one-time fluke, even if both times featured desperation. I like that they have two versions of the sequence, a Warp Evolution-esque one for Gekkomon and a standard one for ArmaLizamon, though I miss different evolution stages/methods having different names I don't know the purpose of not making a verbal distinction since different stages are properly acknowledged unlike in Frontier and Xros Wars, but it feels like a creative decision based on the world.Something I've been wondering about with all the baby Digimon is if they retain their personalities/knowledge from when they were evil. Feels like they could be a useful source of intel if they could speak.>>23836375The first time he does Double Neutron Blade, he says the attack name correctly, but immediately after as he looks at the blades, he calls it ナットー流 Natto-ryuu. When he uses the attacks, he instinctually gives them the correct names, but when he thinks about it while not using them, he messes them up. Like I can imagine Gekkomon calling MonarchLizamon something else.
I love that Gekkomon is so excited to be a dinosaur with rockets attached
>>23836907>Something I've been wondering about with all the baby Digimon is if they retain their personalities/knowledge from when they were evil. Feels like they could be a useful source of intel if they could speak. We know they retain memories from Punimon (Hyemon) & Bommon (Commandramon). I'd say yes based on those examples.
>>23836938It feels so weird since they were decidedly evil for a while. Like what is Sunamon going to do there after being with Arab Epstein for 23 years and killing people? I wouldn't be surprised if Klay returns and amends his ways, but it's just really weird to think about these Digimon with serial killer personalities like RedVegimon.
After going through both a traffic accident and one of my aunts passing away from cancer, I'm finally resuming the Xros Wars manga storytime with chapter 3.
The end of the third chapter.
>>23837214>spoilerThat is horrendous to read. Genuinely sorry to hear that.
Bros, why is Kaleido (Lazyleido) slacking so bad on their Beatbreak releases? I really like their subs the most (especially because they include options for Japanese Digimon terms) but they've been falling so far behind lately I have to turn to other subs I don't like as much to keep up in a timely manner. It wasn't like this for most of the season from the beginning up until just a few weeks ago. They used to release a day or so after but now it's multiple days or even a whole week or more late.
>>23837084Digimon personalities do change with each evolution, so while they have the memories there's probably a safe amount of emotional distance from themPlus getting regular healthy e-pulse from Glowing Dawn and the mushroom guys probably helps sate any violent urgesMy guess is that it would require a strong emotional connection to their past selves to get the babies to fully revert to their old forms/behaviors, like when Commandramon saw Haruomi again

Wolvermon evolution odds? I feel like Perfect has been genericized enough by monsters of the week that even as a consistent jobber, the whole "We've been fighting together for years" thing might be enough to justify it without diminishing Tomoro and Gekkomon accomplishing what they did as total newbies.>Murasamemon>Pandamon>Astamon>Gokuwmon>Flaremon>MarineChimairamon>Lilamon>Proganomon>MarinBullmon>Scorpiomon>Azhdarmon>MonarchLizamon>Mummymon>Jokermon>VamdemonAh, who am I kidding, Perfect is already diminished.

With the episode focusing on fandoms, the enemy being a vampire, and Reina having a furry as a partner, I can't help but wonder if this is an elaborate dig on Twilight.>>23839925Perfect for Wolvermon seems likely next episode since they are introducing Rose's group there as well. I could see it happening later as well, but with the card game and all, sooner is probably more likely.>>23840292Tomoro seems really likely to get his Ultimate near or at the climax with the other 3 soon after.

Thanks for coming back to do this.>>23835422A pretty good episode, though mostly setup.- Miharu really does give off Hikari vibes, even sounding a little like her at times.- Hori and Jokermon were fun villains, and it was kind of surprising how much they played the references to the hilt.- As much as I can't stand MonarchLizamon, but it was fun watching Gekkomon get so excited about evolving.- They really missed a prime opportunity to have them serve as enemies for Chiropmon's Perfect evolution, but I guess we'll have to settle for Makoto figuring out the bomb plot.- Really smart to use Monarch's inherent ability to open portals to save the day.- Wasn't expecting the ending. A subtle gut punch that re-contextualized the whole ep, along with the implications it could've been another GIFT member OR the World Government that got to Tamamori.- GIFT itself being an organization was a surprise as well. Despite the obvious implications of Miharu being the leader, if the ED is anything to go by, it might be more complicated than that.
>>23845360I saw it in Shinjuku about two and a half years ago. The moment where Taichi BSODs the computer is the only time I ever heard a Japanese audience laugh in theaters.
Which path will Wolvermon the Jobber take for her Perfect evolution?
>>23845516Pristimon is a weaponized puppet designed after a red pandaWolvermon is a weaponized wolverine cyborgSo probably something weaponized, partially artificial, and vaguely feminine. Maybe it's getting more organic and feminine as it evolves. But it also has to show Reina's personality, like how Pristimon acts like a big sister or Wolvermon has a move called Tomboy Blaze. Maybe something with fireworks? And keep in mind that the opponent might even serve as inspiration for the evolution, like maybe it'll be something that counteracts vampires.

hello everyone. as some of you may know, the digimon wiki (not wikimon) allows fan content for some reason. years ago i found this little guy>https://digimon.fandom.com/wiki/Fan:Flamemonand i thought it was so endearing that it was clearly done in MSpaint with the shape tools. that and something about its name being flamemon, which is already a digimon, just always kept this little guy in my head. i have decided to steal this OC and claim him as my own, starting with some fanart. >tl;dr i'm stealing some kid's OC digimonpost your cool OCs please

>>23839925The showrunners have already said that Digimon strength in this setting is tied more to their qualiy of E-Pulse than their evolution level.>>23845942Furthermore, since physiologically Vamdemon is still a digital monster rather than a supernatural being, traditional weaknesses like that shouldn't normally be relevant, should they?It seemed like the psychological effect it had on Vamdemon was more relevant to it working than on Reina. He either had the same misconception about silver or feared it instinctively (or, alternatively, feared reflective objects), and Reina pounced upon that fear.

It treats certain movies he didn't directed (Hurricane Touchdown, tri., Last Evolution Kizuna and 02 The Beginning) as parts of a different timeline. It's not official though but you can probably see why.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK3QeW2kmOs
>>23851637This picture perfectly sums up that mess. People should not put that much stock in Kakudou's ramblings because Jesus Christ.
>>23851678Kinda funny that the only takeaway people got from Kakudo's "my first AU fanfiction" was the reveal of Jun getting Oikawa's leftovers as a partner.
>>23851678I know people are allegedly burnt out on multiverse stories, but that's terribly reductionist. It may lean heavy on the high concept exposition side, but it's basically a long way to say "Every Digimon series is memorable".
>>23851927You know what, you're right.
Last week on Digimon Beatbreak, Wolvermon beat the jobber allegations after 28 episodes by defeating Vamdemon with a silver brooch from Maki’s dress.
Reposting from /digi/ on /vg/:Episode 9's writer Shou Aikawa confirms they had Makoto's twin planned even back then, but couldn't fit the reveal in properly: https://twitter.com/nishi_ogi/status/2053122205664616602>Actually, for episode 9, there was an idea at the time to make it so that Makoto entered the Shangri-La Egg using facial recognition because it was misrecognized as the twin's data... but I skipped it back then because it seemed like too much trouble. And so, this twin gag that only existed in the setting finally...
>>23845801Another really great episode, initial disappointment at the lack of Wolvermon evolution aside. Lot's of fun character moments and a treasure trove of reactions.- Is it just me, or does Ryuki kind of resemble Yamato?- The freak accident fall and save getting Reina in was damn hilarious.- Ryuki being Vamdemon was so obvious I was expecting some sort of twist there. Though I understand why they played it straight, since the true twist was centered on Rose and the ending.- Speaking of, having Reina land on Rose's radar through circumstance was pretty fun. I guess Rose attempting to mentor and recruit her will be a running plot thread going forward.- It was great seeing Reina think on her feet and come up with a strategy based on Vamdemon's weakness.- ... Which makes the twist/gag at the end kind of offputting, since as much as it shows that the power of belief goes both ways, it kind of demeans the importance of Reina and Wolvermon's win to just lucking out instead of pure strategy.- I'm kind of iffy about the twin reveal, but at least Makoto's getting more backstory next ep.>>23854377I had almost forgotten about that. In that context, it makes a little more sense. Kind of a shame they didn't get to use it back then.
>>23854396>I had almost forgotten about that. In that context, it makes a little more sense. Kind of a shame they didn't get to use it back then.I've just gone back to check that moment in the episode and there is a hint that it's not as straightforward as it seems with his background. When the Shangri-La employee scans Makoto's face, he doesn't say the full name of the person he's scanned, but just "Kuonji". Obviously the name is so significant that both employees are shocked there's one of the High-End Block family members in their presence. Now in retrospect with this week's episode, it makes even more sense why his full name wasn't stated: because there's two of them.

Future story events aren't fully decided beforehand; the story is being constantly written as they make episodes, and based on fan comments from social media. Even things like the Tactics finale weren't set in stone."
>>23855392That's surprising, but I also wonder just how true it is. There has to be some framework they're working with due to how the whole animation pipeline works, with episode production beginning a whole 8 months before the airdate. The entire evolution lines and their designs were likely set in stone a good year ago, along with how they were going to pace them out. Adventure was a slightly different story due to when it was made (and frankly it's surprising they made it on the schedule they did considering it was Toei's first ever digitally animated TV series). Some of the more episodic content is one thing, and smaller things like Makoto's brother can be delayed since they're just a minor element of an episode, but this kind of character beat was likely decided a long time in advance.

>>23857101Was I wrong in thinking that Asuka knew of Glowing Dawn and Digimon before all of this started? It's been a while since I've watched the first episode, so maybe his ominous warning to Tomoro to not go outside was simply based on the news of what happened to Tomoro's classmate and not because he was engaging in Cleaner-related activities and wanted to keep things hidden. I got the impression that Glowing Dawn knew who he was, though maybe it was simply a pursuit of Hyemon and Asuka just happened to be like any other potential Cold Heart victim. I mean it's not like Glowing Dawn made a big deal about the identity of the kids who Tactics let Snimon attack, and they're probably used to seeing victims. And it's not like anybody of Glowing Dawn like Kyou is volunteering information about Asuka to Tomoro, he might literally be just some random Cold Heart victim who happens have left behind a brother who gave birth to a Digimon that very night and became homeless/without a family but with Cleaner potential.
>>23857570It did seem like Asuka knew what the Hyemon were and that they were after TomoroAnd there was some implication that Kyo knew AsukaI figured Asuka knew about Digimon because their grandfather was involved in the experiment that Klay described, and knew the real reason their parents were arrestedAnd has had dealings with the Ministry and Cleaners ever sinceBut it won't get revealed until the last arc
>>23857570We'll find out more about the implications with Asuka, I don't have a problem with that, but it just feels like there was a tone shift as some point regarding public awareness of digimon where it went from this super-secretive thing to being pretty open but also still treated as a secret. It just feels poorly thought out and not well explained. I don't feel I have a concrete understanding of who in the public knows about digimon and why.
>>23857970I figure most regular students like Tomoro don't know, and the majority of people in the Shangri-La EggBut it's more of an open secret among adults, because weird shit does keep happening and there's an entire neighborhood of people openly living with Pandamon
>>23857952It just bugs me that if the two knew each other, why wouldn't Kyou say anything to Tomoro by now? I'm sure there's a reason, but why wouldn't Tomoro even ASK?And I agree with >>23857970There are certain things I can accept like Tokyo Bay being in the state it is and none of the characters asking about it because why would they? It's just a fact of life and has been for their entire lives. And the way that Sapotama are integrated into everyone's lives while trying to get everyone to believe that there's an objectively ideal way of living represented as life in the the Shangri-La eggs leads me to believe that society itself is somewhat indoctrinated into accepting a pseudo-1984 world. But Digimon attacks are so prevalent and treated as open secrets in some communities that it's hard to believe that they're a secret at all. You can never guess who's going to know about them.
>>23858053Maybe Kyo is keeping a promise to look after Tomoro, and also to keep a secret because their grandpa was essentially a supervillain and the reason Tomoro's E-pulse is differentTomoro finding out that his family experimented on him might cause more harm than good
>>23858077>Tomoro was an experiment that everyone in his family, including Asuka, was in on>His parents were simply removed from the experiment by the government>This destroys everything Tomoro believes in regarding family, Glowing Dawn, and his motivation to save Asuka>Dark evolution to Ultimate>Tomoro's powerful, erratic e-Pulse is the way it is to cause another godlike coalescence of Digimon to appear>Wong and Kanada have been manipulating Tomoro this whole time to accelerate events

>>23855084Another really great one, though there were some issues.- Makoto's backstory finally being elaborated on is a major plus.- I noticed they didn't feature the grandfather Makoto stayed with. It's a small thing, but I wonder if it fits under the category of "plothreads that will be elaborated on later".- I appreciate they went out of their way to reference Seekers with Riku basically wearing Eiji's outfit.- In that regard, I was not expecting Helloogarmon.- Makoto putting some bass in his voice when snapping Chiropmon out of his sacrificial stupor was great.- I'm not a fan of the new insert, but the softer tone was definitely fitting for the episode.- Screw all the haters, ScourgeChiropmon is awesome. Kudos for tying such an unorthodox design into Chiropmon's promise to take Makoto flying some day. You're just just jealous you don't have a cute buddy to pilot. I know I am.- Holy shit, Tsubasa was done dirty. Not just the terrible haircut and playing consolation prize to Makoto, but his name means "wing" and he spends the episode grounded in a cast while he watches his brother soar overhead. - I'm a little disappointed by Seiji's portrayal. Not so much that he was so cartoonishly evil, but that they went to far to ram the point home and didn't have anyone take him to task. Even Sunny was portrayed more ambiguously before the reveal he was only out for himself. You could make the case that having his plans for Makoto fail was enough, and assaulting the owner of a major company would bring too much trouble, but not even a terse remark?
>>23858053>It just bugs me that if the two knew each other, why wouldn't Kyou say anything to Tomoro by now? I'm sure there's a reason, but why wouldn't Tomoro even ASK?It's possible that Kyo doesn't know the full details. Or if he does, it's a truth he feels would be better for Asuka to reveal, no matter how long that may take.As for why Tomoro doesn't ask, Asuka's a touchy subject enough as is. He may want the truth from Asuka himself, or more likely, he's too afraid to even ask for fear of things changing even more than they already have.

>>23854720Gerwalkmon>>23860531>>23860861I thought Seiji getting sent to prison and losing his family and corporate empire for something that he did offhand which he only stood to get a tiny bit of benefit from, even if it succeeded, was entertainingly ironic
>the Gekkotos post got deleted Digifags are such fucking bitches lol.
>>23861194Clearly I need to TEACH these fellows how to be the BETTER MON.

Tsubasa is right to be pissed, his brother gets an incredibly snuggly digimon AND a slightly better haircut.
>>23863582Tsubasa confirmed maximum jellymad.
>>23860861Fair point. I suppose everything that needed to be said already happened, so all they had left was glances.>>23861083May be splitting hairs, but there's always the chance Seiji managed to get out of it. They only brought him in for questioning, and they only have the word of a seemingly disgruntled employee to go off of.As an aside, I forgot to mention:Answer is kind of offputting to me, since the overall tone fits the situation, but the actual lyrics talk about using memories of a departed friend for motivation, so it seems more foreboding rather than just melancholy. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Meto and Kanon's Digimon.

>>23868288>AlgomonSomebody behind the scenes loves this Digimon.
>>23868473Not as much as Toropiamon who has appeared in every single season since its debut.
>>23868288Her mouth area in this shot is so cursed. I get the side-mouth thing for showing a full expression in profile, but adding connected lip protrusions under the nose just makes it look so fucked up. It doesn't help that the lip positions look like a different expression than the side-mouth.Anyway, good episode. I always love Algomon showing up, its forms all look so cool.
>>23868918The Pomumon line was a Pendulum Z thing which was out at the same time as Adventure:, so it was cross-media synergy. It's like how 02 had its Armor Evolutions, but they were all tied to the story. Tamers and Frontier follow suit by using the many other Armor stages not tied to 02's story. Or how Savers makes extensive use of the Genome series, even if it reimagines some of them like Falcomon's line, Kudamon, and Darkdramon. Plus capitalizing on all the Royal Knights and Yggdrasil stuff. And Digimon Next was cross-promoting with Savers by using its Agumon design along with Gaomon, having Yggdrasil (not Savers-exclusive at this point), and also the Digimon Twin towards the end.I think Adventure: on sort of constitutes its own larger era of Digimon.
>>23868288>Be a weird copy of diaboramon>Get used way more than any of the diaboramon lineAlgomon makes me seethe.
>>23869074Algomon only got a full line in Colon.
>>23869082And that's because>Visually reminiscent of Diablomon to capitalize on Omegamon (the Charizard of Adventure:) and Our War Game in the first few episodes>Adventure: being a big celebration of all things Digimon to that point, filled to the brim with deep-cut references>The eye motif fitting a lot of the new evil Digimon designs from Eyesmon to Negamon to AbaddomonMan, they really did just make an evil Digimon called Negamon just because it rhymes with Omegamon.
>>23869623Did they rename it to Ninimon in the english dub?
