Alright, I've finally decided.I'm pushing 30 and have realized life is too short to mindlessly consoom mediocre Gundam media so I'm going to watch the original 1979 MSG and ONLY the original 1979 show because every otaku worth his salt has to at least have seen one piece of Gundam media for street credit.Thank you for listening to this PSA.
I'm a bit confused, are you saying you haven't seen it before, or that it's all you're going to watch, or something else? It's alright to board a train like this late you know, Gundam itself is pushing 50 and it's never too late to enjoy a classic or become interested in something. That aside, I at least hope you can enjoy it, it's very nice.
>>23884430I have never watched a single piece of Gundam media up until now and this is what greets me when I do some research on the Wiki.Nobody has the time to watch all that so I've decided I'm going to watch the 1979 original and that's it, I'm done with this franchise.Even then, I consider 43 episodes a serious time commitment. Brevity is the soul of wit, if you need more than 24 episodes to tell your story then you need an editor or your story isn't worth telling.
>>23884421>Pushing 30 and realizing life is too short to consoom mediocre Gundam Media>Proceeds to mindlessly consoom mediocre Gundam mediaPottery
>>23884436I think it's a bit of a pity to view life that way, much less franchises in general, but do as you will.
>>23884421I would tell you to at least watch Zeta, which is an exquisite masterpiece in my eyes, but I get the impression that you have the typical modern disdain for the classics and treat them as objects to validate yourself instead of appreciating them for their artistic merit, so with that bad taste there's not much to be done.
>>23884421Good idea. Everyone who worked on Gundam believes the original was a complete story and the sequels were shit. 0079 is the only Gundam most Japs are familiar with.
>>23884421>says he's pushing 30 and realized life is too short>his motive for watching Gundam is "street cred"Anon, you haven't yet realized that life is too short. You'll know when you've realized it, because on that day you'll decide to watch things only because you find them engaging or because they expand your tastes.
I am also happy to announce that I will only be watching the Transformers movie (the animated one) because I’ve heard it’s unusually well animated.I don’t care about being “out of the loop” because I didn’t watch the cartoon (as if there was a loop to be locked out of, it’s a glorified toy commercial).>>23884448>>23884510No you don’t understand, I’ve given this some thought. I specifically chose the 79 installment because it was the first and therefore most iconic. Obviously there’s something about the first Gundam that makes it special, otherwise it wouldn’t have spawned a multibillion yen franchise and I wouldn’t spend a second thinking about it.Life is way too short to spend on mediocrity, I strongly suggest you go to your MAL watchlist and cut out all the non essential viewing like I did.
Make a blog retard.
>>23884436Watching a series isn't homework.Engage with it because you enjoy it, if you watch some of 0079 and dont like it then you can stop.Find what you like in a series and see where it takes you.You can just watch Gundam Thunderbolt or Turn A, its fine.
Kinda feels like OP is either deliberately misunderstanding the posts he's replying to, or skim-reading them before replying to his hastily formed impressions of them, rather than to the posts themselves. The latter seems more likely if his pseudo-epiphany about the brevity of his days is just him rationalizing his short attention span to himself, and looking for positive reinforcement from the thread (or, more perversely, looking for pushback so he can treat the pushback as confirmation that he's right).
>>23884421The movie trilogy version is truer to Tomino's vision. Consider it as the "Director's Cut version". It removed all the unnecessary elements that were a result of toy sponsor pressures.
>>23884588Retard.
>>23884597It's true though. There's too much garbage in the TV series but Gundam fags who love the taste of sponsor cock will keep telling everyone that no no no, it's the superior version!!! Zakrello is peak!!!! Moeagare Gandamu!!!! Nah, watch the movies, it's all you need. Fuck the TV series.
>>23884588>It removed all the unnecessary elementsUnnecessary to who?
>>23884588>The movie trilogy version is truer to Tomino's visionThat explains why it is worse. Tomino is a total hack.
>>23884588>It removed all the unnecessary elementsOperation Odessa and Texas Colony were way more engaging in the TV version. Kinda funny though how M'Quve being cut from the movies led to a "movie timeline" where he survives the OYW (CDA and Zeta Define). Similar to how Yamato II's creation led to a bunch of speculation and fanfiction about a Farewell Yamato timeline.
>>23884588>Tomino's vision.Which one?
