>GATOOOOOOOOI know the actual motive was to make a 'obvious evil Gundam' design-wise, but is there any bolted in-universe explanation on why the nuclear launching robot that wasn't even supposed to exist has such a outlandish scowl?
Why was it loaded with nukes anyways? Isn't that silly for it to be so for transportation and subsequent testing?
>>23889260Because it looks cool.
>>23889268The theft was an inside job specifically as an excuse to form the Titans
>>23889268It wasn't. They went to Torrington base to get a nuke and test the bazooka, and going by what happened after Gato fired, it still needed some work.
It was the former Zeon engineers at Anaheim making mobile suits the only way they knew how: scary
>>23889268Oh anon, if you only knew how common the transport of active warheads was, you’d shit your britches.
>>23889260If you're making a WMD it's not surprising if you wanna make it look super nasty.Plus it was made by ex Zeon engineers, they knew what they were doing making a Gundam look like a monster
>>23889260It just occured to me than in the over 30 years since it first appeared there hasn't been a single other Gundam design that copies the GP02's head and face
>>23889593[Skoll] does. And Legilis, after a fashion. Kinda. If you squint.Still better record than Psycho Gundam which AFAIK only has the non-Katoki Crossbone X-3
>>23889585That's a lot less concerning than the number that have been lost.
>>23889598It's honestly not that big of a deal, maintaining them and keeping them operational for any real length of time is a hundred times more expensive than just making them, nevermind realistically impossible to hide. It's still goddamn embarrassing tho ofc
>>23889608The 3 or 6 lost are inert by now.
>>23889286When was this? Didn't they just try going to space as fast as possible?
>>23889593When it comes to 'evil Gundams' I guess each designer prefers to make a different take on each.
>>23890837Psycho MK II will forever be the king of evil gundam faces
How much worse would a nuke in space actually be compared to high yield bombs and colony lasers? Space is already full of deadly radiation.
>>23889608>>23889612Oh yeah, they're definitely not in a "push button to remove North Carolina" situation anymore, but the fissionables are still an issue. Getting them to actually fission would probably be beyond most and the effort would be noticed by the relevant organizations, but there's other ways to make it a problem.>>23890944Depends on the details, of course. You certainly don't want to catch a bomb or colony laser with your face, but if you're not right there or in the beam path, you're basically fine. Space nukes have a pretty sizable radius of functional kills of your vehicles or actual fairly rapid (and awful) kills of your crew. The ambient radiation is more on the level of maybe you'll get cancer in a decade or two if you don't put some lead in the hull - which most sensible ship designs would and would also cut the 'horrible death' zone from the space nukes a bit.
Nuclear weapons are fake and gay.
>>23890837Kimaris should be Barbatos instead GOATlio was the hero by the end bbs.
>>23890987How so? Leakage?
>>23891393That's a possibility, but it would be fairly restricted in scope. Mostly I'm thinking if someone finds one of the things that's the hardest part of a dirty bomb done right there.
>>23891440Too poor quality at this point.
>>23891453Why would that be the case? Pu-239's got a half life of like twenty thousand years. Maybe if the casing's completely compromised.
>>23890837The only ones I recognize are God Gundam, Epyon and Virsago.
>>23891517There’s your reason right there anon.
>>23890944Less bad than on Earth, because heat is such a major contributor to nuclear destruction and Earth's atmosphere makes it easy to move heat around and anything worth nuking is already built to shrug off radiation. A shaped charge like GP-02's nuclear bazooka gets around that.
