what the fuck went right
everything.
>>23892937Kong won
>>23892937Not the fact book I had as a kid I tell you. You ever those. These little books about different movie monsters. Like there was a Dracula one a wolfman one. This one was about Godzilla and it said a lot of wrong info about this movie like how there were different cuts and shit. This kind of shit happened a lot in the pre internet days.
Legitimately my favorite in the series.
>>23893464Same, it's perfect
>>23892937It was quite a big deal, two iconic movie monsters from not even the same side of the pacific clashing together on the silver screen, both were in color for the first time none other less, not only was Godzilla back but this was King Kong’s very first new film appearance in almost 30 years(exactly 30 when it was brought over to the states). To top it off the mere title of the film brought widespread attention. Also the film’s climatic showdown is one of the best in the early Showa series
>>23893189why would they print a book full of misinformation
I really liked the adventure-type movies like this and ebirah
>>23893189Those books sell for a lot now. I remember when my small town library had all of them and we checked them out like 100 times.
>>23893794They were probably handed misinformation themselves. It was a lot harder to fact check shit back then. So anything they might hear as say an urban rumor gets passed on. Also they probably didn't care too much because the flip side is that nobody can fact check them.>>23894105Yeah, I went and looked thinking it might be fun to grab a few for old times sake but goddamn.
>>23894115I def recall the "King Kong vs Godzilla had seperate endings" urban legend in fairly reputable mags like Cinefantastique and Starlog through the 90s
>>23894262That one endured a while. It still sometimes comes up.
>Merian C. Cooper, the producer and Co-Director of the 1933 King Kong film, was bitterly opposed to the project, stating in a letter addressed to his friend Douglas Burden, "I was indignant when some Japanese company made a belittling thing, to a creative mind, called King Kong vs. Godzilla. I believe they even stooped so low as to use a man in a gorilla suit, which I have spoken out against so often in the early days of King Kong".>In 1963, he filed a lawsuit to enjoin distribution of the movie against John Beck, as well as Toho and Universal (the film's U.S. copyright holder) claiming that he outright owned the King Kong character, but the lawsuit never went through, as it turned out he was not Kong's sole legal owner as he had previously believedWhat the fuck was his problem?
