Moderoid Vilkiss fully painted + matt topcoat done. I’m quite satisfied with result despite many problems along the way>shoulder peg almost snapped>ABS feet parts slightly cracked because I mishandled the alligator clip>white paint turned grey after drying, required 2nd layer. Weird because it wasn’t like this with Tallgeese.>blue paint barely enough to paint all the huge wing surface. Blue on black base is pure hell. It was so hard to make the blue appear on the surfaceFor the kit itself, it’s quite good for a Moderoid kit which always seems lazy and low effort for its premium price, especially those Trails of Cold Steel kits with no color separation whatsoever. Issues with Vilkiss:>Sword has no color separation, it’s all grey and has to be painted>Despite its very solid snapfit, the shoulder pegs are nightmare to move and remove since it’s way too tight. I had to use soap/coconut oil to make it slippery and easier to wiggle.>Dogshit body articulation, only rotate left & right.

>>23899263>yeah the one that connects to the body.Congrats on (probably) not reading the manual - you're supposed to put them in as shown and then rotate them into position because there's a groove along the balljoint and a nub in front of the socket that locks the joint in place so it doesn't pop out when moved.

Do you prefer original neon color or bootleg basic color?
If you want my opinion, FSS kits should build more like Taimya kits and less like Bandai (or any snapshitter brands for that matter). Mortar Heads and Gothicmades are so intricately detailed that a bandai-esque snap together kit will be impractical. The parts separation needed for such things will be cost prohibitive, as each kit will have to include over 9000 pieces (either that, or the kit will need a sticker book the size of one of those big blue deluxe edition hardcovers of Gundam the Origin, because the kit will need over 9000 color correcting stickers). If anything, FFS kits would benefit more from the surgical precision engineering of Tamiya. It will make the kits more beginner friendly than Volks' current offerings, whilst being economically viable. Then again, Tamiya's target demographic is /o/-tards and /k/-tards.

>>23899559>>23899560The white is not excluded from what I'm talking about. It doesn't make sense as a primary color for a war machine. The only reason most gunpla (and other model kits) are mostly white is to make stress marks invisible and to make molded details more visible. It's all for the sake of consumerist snapbuilders, there's no artistic reason behind this.
>>23899572Holy schizo
>>23899572Well that's completely wrong. Tomino wanted the Gundam to be pretty much fully white/gray. It's why it's the white devil, it's why Unicorn ended up realizing the 'entirely white' scheme. >>23899702>camo is completely worthless for something that's 16+ meters tallfighter jets and helicopters are about as long as a mobile suit is tall and they use camouflage. the actual size doesn't really matter when it's far enough away.the reason they're very often gray is because it's the color that best blends in with earths atmosphere from distance, stealth bombers are black because it blends in with the night sky and more traditional looking camouflage is used in specific low altitude operations.
>>23899805Came still make sense with vehicles since it helps breaking their silhouette and making it harder to correctly guess speed and direction of movement. All modern tanks receive some sort of camouflage, planes have those odd triangles and so on.

>>23899805>stealth bombers are black because it blends in with the night skyyou ever tried to see a grey plane in the sky above you 50,000 feet at night with no lights on it? you aren't gonna, optical visibility is pretty much pointless. The colour actually doesn't matter, it's black because of what the RAM is made of. Damn the RMZ Irvine Saix is $60 minimum wherever I look. That's already the MSRP of the limited run HMM with the limiter and separate eyes. At this point, all non-Gundam plamo are getting SMP prices for everything.

>>23900633extra work
>>23900634You mean less work. With normal connections you have to cut part from sprue, cut close to part, remove leftovers with knife or file, sand with 2-3 grades of paper, done. With undergate you just cut and remove leftovers, whole sanding part goes way.
>>23900637>With normal connections you have to cut part from spruecan call it a day there

Was about to bite the bullet and place a PO on the Hiltz Stinger reprint. Thank god I still found a copy of the upscale for relatively cheap, about $80. From what I've read on Zoids communities, this is still the better of the two Death Stinger model kits courtesy of not having polycaps. >>23900793The B-Club resins are pretty much my favorite rendition of them in model form.
>>23900622loving the Vaporwave colors
>>23900813I agree, they had soul. The MG Ver.KA is soulless.
why does the zeta ver ka hold its beam rifle in such a retarded looking waycan someone who owns one please show a natural looking pose of it holding the rifle?
>>23900817Yeah they still maintain more rounded surfaces, a bit more flared thruster pylons, more prominent chest bulge and bigger shoulders, all the cool elements from the Hasegawa designI wonder if Katoki would redesign them these days to pull from the manga influence more with a new kit. Most of the recent ver Kas have been pretty nice in that regard.
>>23900787somehow it will be more expensive than an HMM for smaller scale.
>2011+15>still no MG Second V ver Ka
>>23900836It's okay because it'll be a better model in every other way.
>>23900788works well with a hot glue gun. downside is its difficult and nasty to clean up the glued spot
>>23900839Oh I thought that was the V Dash. Oops.
>>23900820It's an old picture from an angle you can't really see the exact gun position, but here you go. Hand rotated so the butt stock touches the inside side of the arm. It usually looks better in 2 handed poses with the 2md hand for support.
>>23900820I'm not really sure what you mean precisely but Zeta just has a big beam rifle and most iterations of it have it being quasi-over-the-shoulder or cradled in the armpit. The latter is pretty typical for all sorts of weapons and it's just fine at holding it that way so I'm not sure if you find that the problem or what.
>>23900866Or add to this - armpit cradle is how you actually hold any sort of rifle IRL. It's actually kinda odd in Gundam that everything is either like a pistol and is just held by the hand, or is a full on bazooka with it over the shoulder.
>>23900872Well, not exactly. Usually weapons have a stock that you brace against your shoulder. Only some Gundam weapons actually go that far. Some of the 00 designs have the weapons bolt onto the forearm for power transfer with the nice benefit of stability too and some other stuff. The Jesta's modified Jegan rifle-turned-SCAR is one of the ones off the top of my head particularly well designed for a more accurate infantry weapon hold. But yeah it bugs me a lot when weapons don't have any decent stock to them, it just makes everything look a bit doofy. Huge pistols, like you said.
>>23900644>Snapfag is THIS lazyYou fuckers don't deserve good gunpla
>>23900793the sd hi nu and sd xi are the accurate ones too
>>23900896I pay top dollar, I deserve good gunpla
>>23900858thanks anon>>23900866i’m not allowed to attach images, but most other iterations of the zeta (namely the hg revive and mg 2.0) seem to be able to hold it normally with the stock not extending up further than the shoulder armor. on the ver ka however it seems to hold the handle at a strange angle and the stock extends way up in front of the shoulder. its an autistic nitpick but its one thing making me want to switch my unbuilt ver ka for the 2.0
>>23900929forgot to add: specifically when it’s standing with the gun pointed straight down or pointed straight out with the arm extended, not in the armpit
>>23900929The 2.0 and ver Ka ultimately pretty much have to hold them the same way, the 2.0 has a slightly shorter and smaller back end but it doesn't change a ton about how much it can pose with it
what are these cubes for?just an easy multi-point connection hub for people willing to pay for the convenience?
>>23900937Yeah. Just extension hubs for more 3mm holes.
>>23900935thanks for the side by side anon, i guess it does just come down to the ver ka having a bigger stock on the rifle for some reason
>>23900938ok thank you
>>23900940the rifles are surprisingly very similar in actual size, but the 2.0 has a bit shorter armsAnyways in my experience between RG, HG 0088, MG 1.0/2.0/verKa the Zeta rifle is always just a tiny bit unwieldy. It's a big thing and it gets in the way with lots of dynamic poses.
>>23900941personally I've found those 30mm joint parts to be pretty good. They're really sturdy in the way only injection molding with whatever their specific plastic blend can be. Nice for joints in pretty much any kinda customization project. The weight they can comfortably hold is surprising. I can't speak specifically to that cube joint but some of the other option joints.
>>23900622Time to use Mr. Hobby's pastel line for girls? It just looks washed-out, honestly.
>>23900904Gunpla are essentially the cheapest snapbuild models you can find.

>>23901107sweet more daughtresses for my pile
>>23901080To be honest, with compressors you will most likely ends up with rebranded same Chinese design in 9/10 cases. You want something like this - with tank and maybe moisture trap but it is not necessary. Tank will ensure smooth operation even if compressor itself is lacking and stable pressure and airflow is most important. For airbrushes it goes pretty much like this:>H&S, Iwata - top quality>Tamiya, Badger, Paasche - mid zone but still good and often recommended>Gaahleri - "premium" Chinese>AK, Vallejo, etc - usually rebranded Chinese>Chinese variants of existing models under myriad different brands - rouletteSomeone correct me if I'm wrong.
>>23900935I wish Bandai would stop being cowards and make the arm bend like it does in the anime.
>>23901133I wish every designer would stop being stupid and design their robots with under-elbow forearm rotation due to how important it is for humanoid motion
>>23901134Humans don't really rotate just their lower arm.
>>23901141yeah we do dudeyou can rotate your forearm 90 degrees without doing anything elsetry it right now man, it's pretty dope, we can do cool things like hold guns naturally and shields cus of this
>>23901134>>23901144That's what the wrist is for, dude. It's just that the human skeleton achieves it by doing a partial rotation of the forearm, whereas our plastic toy robots can do it simply by rotating the ball joint in only the wrist. One of those acceptable compromises that simplifies the work of the mechanical designer and the toy maker.
>>23901144Your entire elbow moves along with the rotation. You are confusing the wrist with the arm.
>>23901155Except this has extreme consequences for robots who might wield such things as forearm weapons because if you ignore this movement you end up with having to have multi-position shield braces and stiff poses with basically any shaped forearmIt can work with all wrist movement but you basically need no arm features to snag something like your rifle or anything on the arms that you want a certain alignment for (again: shields have this problem 9 out of 10 times and need silly solutions to get around it). It's just bad design.
>>23901163No anon. Human arms are two bones. One of those rotates with the wrist. This makes your arm rotate. That's really important if you have something on your arm. All you have to do is pose most any gunpla to realize the limitation in the design.
>>23901165Bad design is putting the shield on the arm at all. The zaku had it right with the shoulder shield from the get go.
>>23901173handheld, arm-strapped, shoulder-mounted, flexible-backpack-arm mounted are all cool but not huge on thunderbolt's subarm + fullsize shields
>>23901124i have a dutch brand airbrush for 25 bucks and its honestly just as usable as my harder and steenbeck one
>>23901175The issue with thunderbolt is the subarms are too skinny, conceptually putting the shield on it's own dedicated arm is the right path but those arms are too small.
>>23901178nevermind the website is dutch, but its a fengda brand airbrush. honestly chinkkino though (just dont disassemble it)
>>23901179I agree. Narrative's Gustav Karl/the new Hathaway Gustav Karl do backpack mounted shields extremely well.
>>23901119The pics show they both come with wings

>>23901242I do. FMP is one of the greatest slice of live romcoms out there
>>23901340For real. Once they dropped the comedic bits and focused exclusively on serious business it went downhill. Still has nice mechanical design though.
Choose one. Den'an-Gei orDen'an-Zon
>>23901363Instructions unclear, chose both.
>>23899775Hey, that’s really cool anon. It’s nice to see girlpla every so often. I like the colours too. It’s matte and not gaudy at all, unlike most
>>23901363Zon, because the other is Gei.
Did a quick spoon with the GGX White before starting on the Nu parts. This is one light coat over gray. Pretty good coverage for a paint. The rapid thinner is making it super matte by itself, so I'm going to skip trying the gloss with the thinner. Also it might take a week to cure, but it was still touch dry in a minute.
