Is there a name for it when one component of a combiner is an afterthought to the rest of the robot? The black's vehicle doesn't even get to be part of the robot. It's only purpose is to hold the helmet and be a shield.
>>23899842Not everything needs to have their own name/term.
>>23899842No clue, but there's a bunch of that do it. I like to think of them as complete versions, with versions that lack them making a lite version of the mecha.
>>23899842We usually just call them greebles/decorative pieces. I do appreciate Abaranger for actually saying "Yeah, Ptera is just here for the chestpiece and helmet but she's also a living battery" in that one episode.
>>23899842Fuck off zoomoid.
>>23899842You're approaching this from a practical engineering standpoint when they're doing this for the sake of design, character, and storytelling. The weapon is part of the design. A designer for a combining super robot would look at a big set of wings on a vehicle and think of what they could be used for. The wings could just be wings on the robot, but there's already a wing upgrade planned. The space shuttle being a shield is an use of the wingspan of the shield, while also making the robot's weapons look space themed, same reason for the booster rocket being the missile.
>>23899842it does not hold a helmet, that would imply the robo has a head already, it holds the whole head of the robot
>>23899842Typical group project
