Are there any instances of mecha on any form of entertainment using hydraulic fluid or similar the same way Kurosawa would use blood splurting effects in his movies? I always thought it would be cool but I genuinely can't think of a single one.
Fun fact, Disney uses clear hydraulic fluid in their anamatronics because it used to use red but the Lincoln anamatronic sprung a leak during a show and people thought it was part of the show reenacting his assassination and were horrified as Disney's poor taste.
>>23902525I'm not sure if there are Kurosawa-style effects specifically, but hydraulic fluid/coolant as blood isnt that uncommon in mecha. For instance, when Pegas dies in the last episode of Tekkaman Blade you can see a bit of oil, or at least debris, floating from his eyeport that's supposed to evoke tears IIRC.

>>23902525Dynamic Productions did that all throughout the 90's.
>>23902543No, I just want to watch something with mechs spurting hydraulic blood, man.
>>23902711Why this super specific thing? Have you even watched any shows at all?
Short Circuit
>>23902712I've watched a ton of mecha anime, my favorite probanly being Patlabor. As to why, I just think it'd look cool stylized like that, and I couldn't remember seeing it.
>>23902757I find your claim hard to believe.
>>23902757Then you are dumb or blind or both as lots of shows use fluid in their units.
>>23902809>>23902819I feel like maybe I didn't explain correctly, I don't know. My interest was specifically in Kurosawa-esque blood gushing effects with hydraulic fluid, not hydraulic fluid being used as an indicator of damage or just streaking on a mech. I guess if you're looking for a more specific contributing factor, I've worked in places where hydraulics are used and sometimes when they fail the lines are under so much pressure that it jets out everywhere, and I thought "hey that's like that one kurosawa movie", and then wondered if anyone had used that specific kind of scene but with mechs.Sorry if I'm still not making a lot of sense, I'm not the best at explaining my passing thoughts.
>>23903195No it makes sense but you are asking for something really specific.
>>23902543Is that a euphemism for request thread?
