Did you cry?
>>
I hadn't been born, stupid!!
>>
>>23915295
Obviously wasn’t there since I wouldn’t be born for almost 10 years later, still I could see the impact to those who grew up watching the series my first introduction to the series was either Robots in disguise or Armada
>>
>>23915295
all my niggas fucking hate hot rod
shithead got optimus killed
also hot rod shoulders suck
>>
I saw it years after on VHS from Blockbuster. I think I was confused more than anything. I do cry to shows, mostly manly tears moments albeit.

As a kid with autism I didn't think people dieing is sad.
>>
didn't cry but it put me on blast, I just remember reeling for like 20 minutes at what just happened.
>>
>>23915295
I was an infant at the time so probably.
>>
>>23915295
I didn't give a shit. My first TF show was Armada.
>>
No because I watched it for the first time a couple of years back and I was and still am a grown adult, however I have to commend them on the balls to do it. I mainly watched this movie for the animation and for being the last role of Orson fucking Welles (who did a good job). Overall an entertaining enough movie
>>
>>23916488
I don't know if it was my first but I have a distinct memory of being weirded out by non Armada versions of Starscream.
>>
>>23916489
There was nothing ballsy about it lol. They just wanted to sell Hot Rod as the new shiny toy along with Optimus.

>Orson fucking Welles
Only five people on /m/ probably know who this is. More people here have seen Shin Kamen Rider than Citizen Kane. No hate, it's just that idea blows my fucking mind.
>>
>>23916505
>More people here have seen Shin Kamen Rider than Citizen Kane.
Wow, the reddit population here is much smaller than i thought.
>>
>>23916498
I mean yeah, that's the real reason, but kids shows didn't do that back then. They didn't kill He-Man or something to have a new He-Man but different or something else
>>
>>23916507
Goddamn you're retarded.
>>
>>23916509
>but kids shows didn't do that back then.
Yeah most of kids shows back then actually knew not to pull retarded descisions like Hasbro.
>>
>>23916513
Nah, 80s kid shows were literally just commercials and plot didn't really matter. I wonder if Hasbro made money off of killing Optimus or not
>>
>>23916513
>most of kids shows back then
You don't need the 'of'. It's just 'most kids shows back then'.
>>
>>23916505
>Only five people on /m/ probably know who this is.
Four of them from The Critic.

This is the best thread on /m/ atm.

This was my first piece of Transformers media as a kid, so I thought it was sad the big heroic truck died, not sad a long familiar character had passed.
That said I was still shook by the opening sequence of Unicorn eating a planet. That ship almost escaping but ultimately getting destroyed really stuck with me.

Thank you, kind strangers. 50 reddit karma for ya!
>>
>>23916505
Well, yeah, I haven't seen Citizen Kane but I did go to see Orson Wells' version of The Trial. It's good, Wells gets Kafka (and Wells suffered lifelong guilt via blaming himself for his father's death somehow)
>>
>>23916548
No problem. I love correcting English all day on an English language website. It's the best.
>>

If you watched Turner Movie Classics as a kid you would know who he is, and how hated he was because of his attitude/demeanor.

When I was little, I thought the Transformers jingle was
>Transformers! Robots in de skies!
>>
>>23916599
I'm divorced. Much like Orson and one of the hottest women to ever live.
>>
>>23916601
Well that's how they arrive on earth.
>>
>>23916553
>Well, yeah, I haven't seen Citizen Kane
It's an important landmark in the development of the film medium and it bores me to tears.
>>
>>23916517
Considering how quickly they brought him back afterwards, I'm guessing the answer is no.

I have a weird soft spot for Hot Rodimus. He was just tired and done with things and clearly didn't want to be there.
>>
>>23917022
yeah he doesn't want to be a leader or fill optimus's shoes
>>
>>23915295
No I was mad they killed off Wheeljack.
>>
>>23915295
Nah. Character dying is a normal thing on animes most people watched growing up. Hearing American kids leaving the theaters sobbing because of this makes me think they're bunch of pampered sissies

Iron Hide for me.
>>
>>23917019
Hot Rod looks like a 70's Japanese super robot. It's a cool design. Rodimus is a bit of a mess but I never got the "winnebago" stuff from boomers, I see he had the hanging trailer area but there's no winnebago model with bigass exhausts or a sleek cab with a spoiler.
>>23917022
Rodimus has a respectable attempt at breaking out of typical 80's cartoon writing hampered by it still being an 80's syndicated show that needed to air out of order if needed so any character arc had to be cyclical. The Burden Hardest to Bear episode should've been his big moment where he's finally accepts being a Prime, but instead he keeps carrying the same selfdoubt because every episode is written around the same writer's guide without an overarching plan.
>>
>>23918226
The post movie seasons were kind of weird. They gave up on the whole IN DISGUISE thing, which was always pretty tenuous, but it became more a space adventure show. Spike even got all Flash Gordon.
>>
>>23916505
I had to watch it in school.
