-=READ THE GUIDES=-

Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!

For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!

For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.

-=GIRLPLA GROUPBUILD=-

Build a kit featuring any brand of Girlpla, including but not limited to:
>Frame Arms Girl
>Megami Device
>30 Minute Sisters/Missions/Etc.
>Figure-Rise Standard
>Megalomaria
Additionally, any "Feminine" mechs like the Nobel Gundam or Valsione are fair game as well. What you do with your build in terms of theming is up to you so long as your base is "Feminine".

Send a description along with both WIP and Finished images of your build to gunplaplamo@gmail.com

>Probably piss poor
>Probably...
Do you even have a compressor like this? What is it with people in the internet seem to think only the most professional, expensive stuff is good enough to paint some plastic toys. A set like that gahleri is good enough for primer, color and top coats. If bro likes airbrushing be can always get a smaller brush model to connect to that compressor or get a real compressor when the membrane one dies.
>>
>>23916419
There is over a month of time left, no need to rush yet.
>>
>>23916423
NTA but in general compressors without tanks are not recommended since with airbrush one of most important aspects of compressor work is to deliver stable pressure. In typical work, you frequently enable and disable airflow, which in case of compressor lacking tank will mean constant turning on and off, along with pressure fluctuations, not to mention continuous work to provide the pressure and associated quick overheating. Sure, they take less space and all that, for priming or base layer they are okay but even cheap Chinese variants with tanks (and, to be honest, 90% or something of compressors available will be same rebranded Chinese model) will allow him to do that and more, should he ever decide to move forward, for only slightly higher price - and I assure you he will at some point. I, too, once got cheap "mini-compressor + airbrush" kit and I consider both a waste of money - they do allow very simple primer/base coat stuff but nothing more and that's very, very limited use for airbrush.

To avoid being groundless, that mentioned Ghaahleri mini-compressor would cost me 360 PLN, equivalent of 80€, while compressor with a tank I use right now, Chinese local variant, cost 400 PLN aka 90€. This really makes no sense. Of course, some Sparmax or Cretex models would cost 4-5 times as much but I find no issues with my current model.
>>
>>23916432
This hobby is a waste of money desu.
>>
>>23916435
If you enjoy the hobby then money invested into it is not wasted. If you do not enjoy it then find different hobby, as, by definition, it is activity for sole purpose of having fun.

Only wasted money is the one invested into tool or resources that ultimately are abandoned in favour of more reasonable ones that do their job better. Like some kind of "cope camera" you buy and pretend it's "just as good" those more expensive ones instead of some reasonable model that justify every shortcoming and still finds it's use along the main one. Like "premium" synthetic brush that fails to emulate actual natural hair instead of cheap synthetic brush for applying details with metallic paints, washes or drybrushing because it's not afraid of strong chemicals that will clean it well but destroy natural hair one and even if, it cost fraction of cost and can be got in bulk. And finally some cheapest airbrush model that spend more time in pieces while you try to figure out why the fuck it refuses to work AGAIN instead of some reasonable mid-zone variant you know what is capable of.
>>
>>23916432
Atleast you put some nuance, I respect that. I got both some Chang airtank compressor and that gahleri one and I like them both. Sure a membrane compressor is not ideal but, even of you get a separate moisture trap and a cleaning pot, you can start airbrushing for under €100,- because it is a complete set in a box. I got both from a local friendly scale model store for a few Euro more as directly from China but Euro consumer protection gives a one year warranty. Getting it from AliExpress will be cheaper but if it breaks early you are fucked.

Amazon usually has stuff like that, as do many hobby stores. I got one when I first started out that had files, nippers, a knife, and tweezers. The contents will usually vary depending on where you buy them from, of course.

Looks like Yazan's stingray suit with a cape on it to me.

>>23916566
Do not recommend. They are usually low quality bottom of the barrel junk that would be mean to give to even the freshest of beginners. Awful nippers that pinch nubs off giving you more work. X-actor style blades that get dull within a couple of uses, etc. Maybe that's a tiny business idea, start making model builder bundles to sell to people that don't consist of the worst chinese junk.

- the blue parts had a weird greasy layer out of the box so I had to wash those parts before doing anything else with them

- this is the first MG kit that came with water sllide decals, I applied those and the emblem of Mitchell Derek, the pilot who ended up using this F91 in the grand finale of the Steel 7 battle (and died there lol). These watermarks are kind bad as the edges are very prominent and visible even after using a decal softener with them

- the shoulder exhaust fins are FRAGILE as fuck, I ended up snapping the most lower one of the left side and it was a pain to glue the thing back into place and it is now immobile

- the side skirt armor which store the 2 beam sabers don't fit properly into place, so you can see the piece slightly off

- the hands are shit, left one can barely hold the rifle and it will fall off if you look at it funny

- the yellow stickers were my greatest dread but actually, they are pretty good. they have good adhesive power, are pretty thin so you can apply them easily no matter the surface they go, even the curved ones in the chest
this is especially noticeable in the shoulders, as the large stickers go around 3 whole faces and fit perfectly, hell, they even hide a ugly seamline in the border of the shoulders

- the backside of the head lacks a proper metallic sticker for the camera there, so I made my own, it can be seen in this pic, same for the beam rifle, as the sensor also lacks the respective sticker for it

it was definitely the right chpice to slightly sand down the ball joint that connects the torso with the waist and the wrists to allow a more fluid movement and avoid accidentally stressing and breaking those parts
the VSBR are pretty big and almost as tall as the suit itself when you extend them

however, the small size of the suit itself makes it also a very light kit, so it really need to be handled with care

that aside, the titansque looking color scheme really give it way more personality than the boring bland white F91

RE 1/100 Hamma Hamma is getting reprinted Q4 2026. It is not on Bandai's website yet, but suppliers have mentioned that it is part of their delivery batch. Suppliers also mentioned reissues of the 1981 MAs and warships which Bandai hasn't disclosed yet.

Large stockists in China/Asia have been accepting preorders for the above since 2 weeks ago and Hamma Hamma closed quite early. Japanese stockist don't like spoiling stuff, but Chinese ones do.

RE 1/100 Jagd Doga and Gun EZ are coming in September 2026

I don't think that only the best shit works. I rigged an airline from an aquarium pump (a decent one no less) to an airbrush to get started, and tried the canister propellant kind of airbrush as well. Eventually I realized how much money I was wasting avoiding buying a regular ass basic chinese compressor and went to Harbor Freight to get the cheapest compressor. They had an airbrush specific one for like 60 bucks with a shitty airbrush and I used that for eight years.

The one you or whoever linked was just a repackaged aquarium air pump. Exactly what I started with. I didn't speak from a station of looking down on it, I spoke from experience about it. Since then my son has made the same mistake, and I had to let him. You're probably older, so you might listen. I gave it to you straight. It'll struggle with most things and sputter when it starts overheating. To boot you'll waste time and money fixing paintjobs and feel like you're not capable of it or failing, when you're just fighting tools not meant for the job.

>In the story, it was just destroyed as prototype parts before assembly, or repurposed as civilian heavy machinery at a construction site (does that mean they managed to mass-produce even a few?). Turning the GQ Gun Tank into a model kit is probably too much to ask for, huh. Commercializing a big, Dom-sized box for something with zero screen time feels like it'd be asking way too much, right.

>箱がドム超えそうな大物

bandai needs to focus on late UC as a whole it's retarded we're getting ANOTHER Zaku II variant while several F91 and Victory suits don't have kits new or modern
>>
>>23917782
Putting the focus on less popular stuff is a great strategy and I am surprised they never thought of that before. You should be the new CEO, the shareholders would love you.
>>
>>23917782
Late UC has a plethora of designs that bandai can use. This discussion is regularly had, but there's truly no rhyme or reason behind why those retards do what they do. They're extremely lucky that they have such a valuable IP and have built up their manufacturing capabilities, because if they hadn't done that, they would be in the same position as Koto with how ass retarded they are with their decisions.
>Let's re-master the same gam- I mean robot model kit we've remade 10 times already in the past 5 years! That's what the consumers want!
>>
>>23917813
That is unironically what sells best.
>>
>>23917814
look, all I'm saying is that over the years I've seen enough "new" designs of late UC model kits instantly sell out enough times that you can make an argument contrary to that.
>>
>>23917817
They sell out because they make them in lesser quantity.
>>
>>23917824
>still sells out
>Then bandai has to do the same old song and dance of doing new batches because they didn't anticipate the popularity
>>
>>23917828
Better than what happened with G-Witch and just pallets of what's the name of that mecha. I didn't watch the show, but I remember pallets of it at a discount.
>>
>>23917813
Bandai likes to feed on popularity. Most of late UC media: F91, Victory, G-Savior ( may be ) were failures and didn't amount to anything. Not to mention the miniaturization of late UC makes it difficult to release the kits in the most popular line aka HG.
>>
>>23917828
>They make and sell smaller batches, then make more eventually while also constantly producing the popular things
This means they are bad at doing business and should hire some random retard online who knows what people really want. PG glup shitto full retail.
>>
>>23917839
>glup shitto
I had to Google this. It's a tumblr Star Wars meme? Really?
>>
>>23917843
I thought you knew everything
>>
>>23917828
that was bandai's intention. all of the MG poll winners got paper reissues at best just so they can say "we reprinted it, now shut the fuck up!", and to also induce FOMO so they sell out fast enough.
>>
>>23917839
Sorry, guess I'm the only one who is capable of pattern recognition.
>>
>>23917856
Your idea of pattern recognition is saying that they were right to sell what they're selling and then throwing a fit about them not selling things that aren't popular.
>>
>>23917851

I take breaks, I've had a painted build just waiting for decals and matte top coat posed on my kitchen table for a week and a half now.
Painting also helps with not getting bored of the process. Some days you are just clipping and sanding, another putting on primer/color/clear coat, another assembling, etc.
>>
>>23918053
I usually swap to working on a smaller, more simpler kit with far less runners, helps to get back into the right mindset then go back to working on the original project. That or I take mild stimulants.
>>
>>23918053
i hate leaving a mess on my table so I progress steadily on builds
most of my other hobbies are digital and I finish a lot less projects when it can just sit in some folder
