Ultraman is finsihed after TEo
>>23917437It's Teover...
>>23917437First Super Sentai. Now Ultraman. Next year will be the end of Kamen Rider, I guess.
>>23917514Next year will be the end of Project R.E.D.
>Super Sentai crashed and burned>Project RED flopping like a fish>Ultraman dying a slow death>Kamen Rider on life support >Godzilla hasn't had men in rubber suits in years>other toku productions completely ignoredTokusatsu is a dead genre

Teo is going to have a Ginga-tier budget because all the money went to Zero.
>>23917695I just read this as Giga-tier budget as in that porn company.
>>23917773They're probably about the same
The current voice of Belial.
>>23917695Why do they think burning bridges at their current position is such a good idea...
>>23917841China is Ultra's biggest audience by a long shot and their favorite Ultra by a long shot is Zero because he's essentially Sun Wukong. Appealing to China is Tsuburaya's best shot at survival.
>>23917437>>23917502>>23917514>>23917516>>23917672>Ultraman has a market in America and China>Rider don't.Now run back to /krg/ and get laughed at.
>>23917923Rider has a market in China. Zeztz is doing well there.
>>23917924Yeah, and only Zeztz. For some reason, China loves Tiga and Zero...But hate the hero Tsuburaya Productions made for them, Metal Kaiser.
Another KINGtos win...!
>franchise dies>franchise survives but has to pander to ChinaHonestly don't know which is worse.
>>23918125The latter, easily
>>23917923Why are you obsessed with Kamen Rider?
Sex with Sorato.
>>23918173Why are the shitposters from /krg/ obsessed with Ultraman?
So not only are the /krg/ shitposters trying to ruin the threads, we got a death battle pajeet in the mix too.>>23918092
>>23918306>>23918309Why are you obsessed with /krg/?
>>23918329>u-ur de obsessed o-oneMaybe hide it better that you're a known shit poster from /krg/.
>>23917695The budget is one thing, but I welcome better directions than whatever Omega first half was. Some scenes felt awkward, like Sorato and Kosei's first conflictWell, calling it conflict is too generous. Sorato was just cool in general, while Kosei was overreacting for no reason
>>23918359You're the one who made this all about Kamen Rider and /krg/ in the first place, dumb schizo.
>>23917841What bridge is burning?
>>23918360Boring was what it was. It took too long to introduce all the toys. You can cut like 4 episodes and used them for the second half when the team gets established instead.
>>23918364the ones /krg/ made up.
>out of NOWHERE
>>23918360Omega had an inexplicable amount of body horror
>>23918374jeet's back. go back to deathbattle.
>>23917672I can see even Rider someday gonna go similar to what Godzilla is now. Many people keep thinking tokusatsu means "transforming hero and giant monster disaster" instead of the filming technique, that's why "toku-anime" term got brought up many times.
>>23918461Tokusatsu literally just means 'practical special effects'. And looking at the Japanese wiki, you see everything they consider 'Tokusatsu'. Including the fucking Muppets.
>>23918467Even in Japan native speakers generally view it with implications of "transforming heroes," "robots," or "kaiju." I believe in general parlance that they probably just use "SFX" to refer to the broad category of special effects. It's fine to use it as a loanword for Japanese heroes and kaiju as a genre classifier. Though there is a practical purpose of using the term since, yeah, stuff like Muppets or kung fu movies or Star Wars or even the Jackson LotR trilogy where they have a hefty emphasis on the special effects and stunt work can be discussed as toku. Just that it's less useful than discussing toku as specifically Japanese media, if you're talking in English.
>>23918482I mean they literally have genres for those. Mechs, Kyodai Heroes, Henshin Heroes, Kaiju...
>>23918497Yes but the point is that while "tokusatsu" is a term for special effects in Japanese, they still generally use it in the same way that we in the English speaking world do.It's understandably more narrow in how it's used in English but if you bring up Wikias you should also recognize that Japanese wikis have a separate page for "SFX as in visual effects" and "tokusatsu as in stuff like heroes and kaiju."
Currently watching Taro as my first ever Ultraman series and I'm loving it. What should I watch next? I remember reading something about Seven being considered one of the important classics.
>>23918560what did you like about taro? if you like the bullshit that taro pulls, you'll like ace. if you like more serious episodes, you'll like return of ultraman
>>23918560If you like Taro you should 100% go back and watch the OG show before anything else. Not because it's SUPER similar to Taro or anything, but you clearly like Show Ultra already and the OG show is just genuinely great, on the shorter end too.
>>23918572I like the aforementioned bullshit and the overall feel-goodness of the plots (like how every episode ends on a shot of Kotaro smiling), and I especially love the monster dismemberment. Also genuinely surprised at how much I like Kenichi as the kiddo sidekick. >>23918574Sounds good, might do OG and then Ace next.
>>23918364Still peculiar that there's no suits for Cosmos or Mebius Phoenix Brave
>>23918376If by body horror, you mean Kosei's over acting, then sure. It was horrifying to see
>>23919128We're about due for another Kaiju Boom.
>>23919128>even Uchusen has no faith in TeoIt really is over
>>23919429lol yeah bro, ultraman, doomed since 1963, amirite leddit? Fuck off.
