What the FUCK happened between 0079 and Zeta? Did they literally just blow the entire income from the first series and all the merch on improving quality for the sequel? I've only watched one episode so far and this is already classic High 80s Anime Quality.
>>
watch more anime newfag.
>>
>>23917522
I have watched a bunch of anime. I was expecting a quality increase and a musical style shift but not to the degree I got.
>>
Zeta has worse animation unironically
>>
>>23917511
Since it sounds like you mean money, model kits and the power of toys happened after 0079 ended after being cancelled and ending 9 episodes short, but had a bit of time to sit and they realized they were on a gold mine. 0083 is your general rush through on the main retroactive bits between 0079 and Zeta.
>>
>>23917511
What do mean? Zeta also looks like shit
>>
>>23917511
There was usually a stylistic change in the anime industry every turn of the decade. Animation didn't change much from 2010 onwards.
>>
Kycillia has such sexy eyes
>>
>>23917511
Animation style in general just changed a lot in that period of time. You watch something like Urusei Yatsura that ran continuously from 81 to 86 and the later episodes just look like a completely different show.
>>
>>23917511
Funny enough is that they were different animation teams, the ones that worked on Zeta previously did shows from Xabungle to L.gaim. The original animation team that worked on 0079 Gundam however would go on to do shows like Dougram, VOTOMS and Layzner and you can absolutely see it
>>
>>23917511
80s TV anime looks better than 70s TV ainme. Anon shocked.
>>
>>23917796
What the fuck happened with movies between 1920 and 1930? They have SOUND now? What the FUCK? What's next? Color?
>>
>>23917511
That tends to happen when things are made 6 years later.
>>
>>23917800
Unironically everyone should watch Singin' in the Rain. It's a 50s film about the 20s, it's funny, and the dancing/stunts (Donald O'Connor specifically) are fucking nuts.
>>
>>23917511
If you actually watch the progression from 79 to Zeta through the works in between (Ideon, Movies, Xabungle, Dunbine, L Gaim) it's really not a huge leap. Gradually the artwork improved through all the Sunrise shows.
>>
>>23917920
Some like it hot > Singin in the Rain
>>
>>23917922
Except those are all slop with no notable animation while 0079 was legendary and inspired a generation of animators
>>23917796
80s TV anime is worst they have ever looked, especially by Sunrise who was a really below average studio

Billy Wilder is unironically one of the best directors to ever exist. Pic unrelated.

I stopped listening to the opinions of anyone who uses the word slop anymore.

Wow. You're a huge larper.

For non-retards there was a noticeable drop in quality with Zeta
>>
>>23917794
Lupin remained consistent and didn't decline until pink jacket. It's more Tominos a writer and not an animator.

>>23917511
its just a different style i like 0079 more budget was bigger though i think (?)
>>
>>23917995
heres an interesting observation doesnt it seem like fun tomino has better animation than sad tomino?
>xabungle
>gainer
>turn... ok that one is that much better.
>greco

Lupin III Part 2 ran from 77 to 80, so before those stylistic changes from the early 80s. Like you say there though, Lupin Part 3 from -84- already looked very different.

Since the change here was actually badly received, later specials tried to stick closer to the Part 2 designs.

The issue with UY though is that they gave a lot of freedom to the animators to use their own style, which is why it has a huge art evolution during its run (and also attracted big name animators from the time since it was known as the series where they could do whatever they wanted).
>>
>>23918033
Judeau, Roux, Haman, Beecha, and Char scream 80s though. Char just can't handle the turbo whores of the 80s.
>>
>>23917511
MSG has so many dynamically directed fight scenes, nearly every episode has some interesting twist on the formula.

Zeta is 80% shots of unanimated overdesigned mechs being dragged across the screen, occasionally moving their arms paper doll style, and firing yellow lines at one another which sometimes do damage, sometimes kill other ms, usually just don't do anything at all
>>
>>23918050
It's just stylistic differences.
0079 has MS move in very personified, knight-ish way. Zeta's combat is mostly machine-like.
It was in CCA where they find that sweet balance of both.
>>
>>23918062
The federation didn't understand what Char was saying and had to tell his handlers the Big Zam and battleships don't exist.
>>
>>23918050
>MSG has so many dynamically directed fight scenes

It also has a ton of stock shots and G-Armor garbage. You sound like you just watched the movies.
>>
>>23918114
>G-Armor
That's the best part.
>>
>>23917511
He made Dunbine inbetween and its quality rests between the two.
>>
>>23917952
Why didn't M'Quve also stab the Gundam? If Amuro was gonna suicide dive the Gyan, then it goes both ways.
>>
>>23918265
The real question is why did he stand there unmoving while the Gundam leaped into the air like a retard
>>
>>23917944
One of the ragers is known to hate anything by Tatsunoko that wasn't directed by Sasagawa too, which shows their narrow shit taste.
>>
>>23918265
>>23918269
Did you not understand the choreography?
>>
>>23918274
It's not incomprehensible, it's just stupid.
>>
>>
>>23918281
Do a better one then.
>>
>>23918285
Sure
>Gundam jumps in the air fully exposed
>M'Quve simply point his beam sword at Gundam
>Gundam impales itself on it
The end
>>
>>23918288
>>M'Quve simply point his beam sword at Gundam
>Gundam parries the sword and stabs him with his second sword
Now what?
>>
>>23918291
Gundam can't parry because he's falling and M'Quve's sword is point at his exposed torso. It's physically impossible. Please, retard. Enough.
>>
>>23918292
>Gundam can't parry because he's falling
Yes he can, he has two swords.
>>
>>23918295
No he has one sword drawn and a gun in the other hand and having two swords in hand in that exact moment wouldn't change anything anyway (completely nonsensical).
>>
>>23918114
I've watched both. The G-Armor is fun.
>>
>>23918314
He'd parry with the gun and then stab with the sword, retard. Are you even paying attention?
>>
>>23918342
That's less logical than what was actually animated. Good job tardface.
>>
>>23918345
It's more logical than what you wanted to happen.
>>
>>23918348
Not by a longshot (lmao)
>>
>>23917934
Looks more like Kubick.
>>
>>23917934
>Pic unrelated.
>>
>>23918050
You aren't wrong. Tomino was heavily involved in the character and mobile suit choreography of the original MSG. He took a step back during Zeta and allowed others to handle how the battle scenes were choreographed. Tomino focused more on other things.
>>
>>23917511
For me it's the difference in confidence. Zeta feels like Gundam that's figured out what it wants to be and is going for it with everything it's got. Just look at the intros.

I can tell you're lying because the staff hated the G-Armor and couldn't even be arsed to draw it correctly half the time.
>>
>>23919411
Faggot.
>>
>>23918283
not everyone can be AEUG's Blue Star
>>
>>23919411
>guys you have to hate the G-armor because Tomino hated it!!
Ok but if you didn't know any of the backstory, it's a cool surfboard for the Gundam that also doubles as other gimmicks.
>>
>>23919444
>Tomino hated it
This is a lie btw.
>>
Why are zetafags so retarded? Why it's almost always them to come up with such shit threads?
