>>23922029Honestly if I were to guess one overall theme it would be the team format helps give Sentai something that women like that they don't really get in the same way from the other franchises. There's a reason why a lot of girls' anime is based around a friend group. Like Precure is also structurally similar to Sentai (episodic, group focus, slice of life segments based around things like holidays or going on fun trips) and that's designed specifically for girls.And for Sentai it has the benefit of capitalizing on the team structure to allow for it to have a higher ratio of ikemen (and ones that may have unique types of characters) and while it isn't relevant for all women, having an expectation it will have females as transforming heroes who actually are fun to watch probably does help a lot.

Just watched Polar Beginning after putting it off for some time, that was really damn awesome despite the pacing being way too fast I somehow go to like the whole team which made me wish this was a proper mini-series. Did blu-ray short series like Snipe's, Gorider or Type Tokujo perform that badly that they don't do this anymore for Rider either?Also damn this proved to me that Hasegawa would make a good Sentai if he'd ever get picked to do it, this special almost felt like something Yokote would do but way edgier. Honestly when Sentai entered hiatus after it didn't sting too much at the time since I actually liked Gozyuger even if I didn't consider it a top-tier show, but not being able to get a Sentai written by Hasegawa due to the hiatus and Gavan Infinity just being barely above average for me just made the situation hurt more.Also was surprised that this was done apparently by a fairly new director too? Glad that he's getting work with Gavan at least since his Sniper episode was one of my favorite of that show so far although that was mostly due to Yamaguchi's script who should also be given the chance to head a toku eventually.
