They had a relationship before the amnesia event, though. This kind of misses that the reason their relationship is like that is because Kou was emotionally distant and their relationship coming with a lot of unresolved baggage. It's not really because Rain didn't want to shake the boat she just didn't have a whole lot of options and then during the game, well, the amnesia makes it difficult to continue having the relationship they did. Even then, maybe I'm mistaken, I think at the beginning of the game she's very clearly insinuating sex and Kou gets flustered and is unaware.

I went on a deep dive about how it is possible that there's still a scientific debate on if crustaceans feel pain or not even though scientists have been testing that shit for hundreds of years and there's endless records of pain responses and it turns out the entire thing is just a throwaway idea from René Descartes that got way out of hand about how he believed lab animals like dogs are incapable of "suffering" even though they can feel "pain" because Descartes was deeply religious and thus believed animals have no souls
