I wish there would have been more mecha movies involving stop-motion animation that was used on Robot Jox, but I think it was such a slow process which hindered low budget movie-making, and the audience for the genre was small, that we were lucky to get what we did. Pacific Rim opened up the audience for it a little more, but its still small compared to something like superhero movies.

I feel like one of them needed to have a really interesting world or set of characters or something to make up for them only having max 15 minutes of robots in the movies. You either have to make jaws and make it interesting when the thing of the movie isn't onscreen, or you need the budget to make jurassic park. If you watch a youtube compilation of all the robot fights you've really extracted 99% of the nutrients from it.
