Piloting is entirely different from design/manufacturing/maintenance so if you want to do the former just do flight school/air force. If the latter, you don't have to be "smart" per se, but you have to have a "feel" for how physics/numbers work. Most of the time it'll be more about troubleshooting than invention, and if you can't work on a project/task for hours/days on end without burning out you're not getting far into any big engineering program
You should study to do plane maintenance. Or if you're really smart mechanical/materials engineering.Robots are not a software problem, the real issue is getting enough energy to power them up.
