>Nemshow 10/10
>Dreams surpass Nightmares 8/10
He's just the best to ever do it, what can I say? I like that Nem's perfect world is being a literal idol. I like that Oblivion is a megalomaniac. I like that Phantom is indeed the last nightmare to tie this all together for Nem's sake. I like that Baku can just tactical bomb dreams regardless of the circumstances. It's concise, if only the bullshit of everything preceding it wasn't so janky.

It was an okay episode.

Solid directing from WataJun, one would expect an action director like him to lean more on the action aspect like Sakamoto does, but he went for a more artsy drama vibe with some horror-esque bits for these past 2 episodes, which is kinda surprising.

It was an episode with a typical "good guy gets trapped in a fake ideal world where an important character doesn't exist" premise. I think it could've definitely been more emotional than it ended up being, the first breakfast scene between Nem and her mom was pretty heartwarming and a bit sad knowing the context, but The Lady went mask off and things started going bad for Nem way too early into the episode to really let me savor that bittersweet "illusory world" deal. I think they could've also highlighted Baku's absence in this "ideal" world more, if only to drive home how supposedly important he is to Nem.

The short comedy bits with the cops were whatever, and we also got some cheeky references to Gavan Infinity now that it just ended.

Biggest surprise in this episode for me was the amount of agency The Lady still retains despite being merged with Phantom, to the point she even tricked and tried to fight Oblivion off. And Oblivion put up less of a fight than every other Gore Nightmare so far including Punish, but they're obviously not done with him yet (hopefully).

My biggest gripe with this episode is something I had already talked about last week, which was the fact that, despite being a 2-parter focused on her, Nem basically ended up having no agency when it came to ending this whole situation and reverted to a mere damsel in distress that had to be saved by Baku yet again even though these past few episodes had begun highlighting how she was attempting to be more useful and was finally starting to stand up for herself. Baku has singlehandedly saved the day so many times that it's no longer exciting when he does it at this point, but I guess the scene where it's revealed that he finally managed to find Nem after lamenting that he couldn't do it last week was neat.

I also wanna know where Nem's real body was taken to and how Baku managed to find it (if it wasn't just through dream bullshit), hopefully they delve into this next week.

>Nem basically ended up having no agency when it came to ending this whole situation
Welp, I just paid more attention to the preview and it seems like The Lady/Phantom's illusory world is still up in the next episode, so they can still somewhat salvage things in this regard.

So Baku is longer a human right? Like it's the Ace scenario again but only limited to dreams.

I liked more than some recent ones. Not having Nox helps a lot. I wish they just leave him as policemen Odaka when fixing Phantom's world but we already saw the preview of the next episode.

>Nem basically ended up having no agency when it came to ending this whole situation
I kinda wish they had Baku trying to reach her but Nem herself was the one to start breaking the nightmare and then Oblivion appeared.

> And Oblivion put up less of a fight than every other Gore Nightmare so far
I think Oblivion is more non-combative but focused on reality warping stuff.
>>
>>23955635
To add, I just hope they just don't blatantly kill Phantom/The Lady just like that. We really need some closure between Nem and her. Not saying she should be redeemed but she can't just be reduced of "monster of the week" like it was with Catastrophe.
>>
>>23955282
It was an okay episode but could've used more to the mini-arc to make it land better. Between the empty world segments and Nemu's waking up scenes it's making it unclear how many layers of dreams they're on. I expect that's intentional but I do hope this pays off bigly.

Now that I think about it I do wish the show did the surreal nightmare stuff a bit more. I'm hoping Kami's saved up some real good shit of that kind for the finale because we're looking at oblivion likely being the very last boss nightmare to go down. He'd work for a large scope threat and even at personal scopes as long as he's specifically hunting after Nemu. I'd like it if he turns out just be a detail and for us to see Baku's closing challenge be him doing everything he can to save Nemu against the nature of her doomed existence so it rounds out the "Save the girl" theme of the show.

This entire show is a monkey's paw
>we want shows with few riders
Here's a show with exclusively 3 riders. The lead is okay and the other two are some of the worst in all Reiwa with zero chemistry between the trio.
>we want shows where the rider fights alone against all odds
Here's a show where the lead hero does exactly that, but we don't do anything interesting with the premise and he's mainly unbothered by the deck stacked against him.
>we want less toy shilling and episodes dedicated to drama
Okay, here's episodes with minimal costumes and just human drama, but because we failed to create good characters with interesting relationships you get a very boring two-parter where nothing cool happens.
I enjoyed the Gavan parody and the fight at the end, but that was about it. It's funny to me that by this point they don't even explain how Baku survived his erasure; he's just "that guy" and can survive anything. Which just makes every other agent's death besides Sieg being permanent (according to the movie) pretty funny when two riders can just return whenever they feel like it.
Glad that The Lady dies next episode, fuck that bitch.

For Zeztz, it would be cool if he was only that OP in dreams, and in real life he was an average rider in terms of power. Feels like that'd be a good balance. He only excels in a certain realm and is just okay-ish outside of it.
>>
>>23955499
That's probably the endgame given the scene where he mistook dreams for reality and the movie spoilers, but I don't think there's any signs that he's changed in this episode, he wasn't part of Nem's ideal dream because The Lady explicitly made an illusory world without Zeztz in it and Baku was clearly using the power of Exdream to reach out to her.
>>
I thought Oblivion wiped people out of existence when Nem forgets them but I guess they just got wiped out of Phantom's personal dream realm

truth nuke.

The other riders are not even likeable.
>>
>>23955785
I think Oblivion just wiped out Nem's memories of people inside her dreams, which helped The Lady set up her illusion world with new versions of the characters sans Baku (and possibly Sieg), and then Oblivion started wiping out some of the people in the illusion world as it began breaking it down to reach Nem. Or maybe people did disappear in the real world, but the effect only lasts as long as Nem forgets about them since her own perception warps reality like The Lady possibly hinted, so everyone might have actually become their illusion dream world counterparts in the real world since that's how Nem remembers them as now while Baku returned as is because Nem could still vaguely recall his last words to her and he had no alternate illusion world counterpart.

Pretty great episode, the atmosphere was really solid, I liked how Oblivion fights, liked seeing Lady be actually active and her reactions during the episode as her planned started failing. Also Phantom's theme.
My issue with this episode is that it really made Nem's powers feel sort of pointless? I get that this needed to have late to set up the conflict with Oblivion but at the same time I feel they should have done this way earlier because it wastes Nem as a character.
Regardless I hope Watanabe directs more episodes in future shows, wasn't expecting him to lean into horror rather than action. Compared to Fukuzawa's debut in Geats or even his 2-parter in Gotchard Watanabe impressed me way more.

A great episode, even with a few flaws.
Leaning more towards a subtle horror atmosphere was a great direction. The constant tension and underlying dread contrasting the happy moments in the delusion were well done, coupled with how easily The Lady slipped in and out of character in certain scenes, particularly the scene where she talks about hiring Nox to be Nem's bodyguard. The scene with blood splotches appearing on the walls as she walks down the hallway after the illusion starts to break was also well done. The whole situation unraveling because she went back on her deal with Oblivion to protect Nem was also well done, as well as the reactions during the reveal. The cut between her glaring at Oblivion behind his back, to looking apologetically at Nem is particularly notable.
Despite all the conniving and directly going against Nem's wishes, the fact she truly had Nem's well being at heart was fully on display and made the scene all the more heartbreaking.

However, the resolution was a little rushed. It would have been nice if Nem had come to her senses before Baku showed up. I wish Baku's rose had played a bigger part in his appearance towards the end too, although I noticed it being referenced in the blue flower pattern on Nem's earmuffs. The choreography during the fight with Oblivion was kind of sloppy in a few shots too and really could have used better editing, particularly the kick Baku throws before knocking the memories out of him. That said, it evened out after Baku brought out the Breakam Zeztzer and during the short exchange with Phantom, oddly enough.

The ending with Nem waking up bookending the episode was 10/10 though. I do hope they go into detail about how Baku tracked her down next ep.

I liked seeing the characters in their AU roles (and the Gavan parody) as well and almost wish it had gone on a little longer, so it's nice to see that the illusion world hasn't been completely broken.

>Baku appears because The Lady couldn’t erase Nem’s dream of being with Baku

So Phantom gets defeated next episode, next two parter will be a proper fight against Oblivion, the the last 2-parter will be a fight against a new form of Oblivion?

Every time I think this show can't get any dumber it manages to top itself with how fucking dumb it is.

There are very few plot threads left so I could see Oblivion getting defeated in the next 2-pater the the last 2-parter is an epilogue
