wonder how this thread will go
>>23959482HG or MG? I think the MG Owsla bootleg has one included?
>>23959444You do know that eventually a later member of the Hazel line will drop the "stealth bomber" look entirely in favor of a look that's more curvy like the original, right?
AK Hazel bootleg looking good
May as well repost here. That upcoming bootleg Hazel is a kit based on the Metal Robot Damashii. Meaning it's non scale.Meaning it will look odd next to your AoZs. Assuming you even care about that, considering the HG HZII is gigantic. No, I will not stop bringing it up.>>23959530Hopefully they'll do the Kelderek soon-ish.
This is what sex looks like btw.
>>23959648The AK Hazel is closer to the original HG, just with updated engineering. The nonscale Robot Damashii bootleg kit is something else entirely
>>23959656Uh yeah. Did not mean otherwise. Also, does the Weibo page for Watership 4.5 look like this to anyone else?
>>23959648It's such a waste honestly, completely killed my interest in the kit. Gonna look especially weird if you try to stick any other AoZ gear on it.>>23959660Works on my machine
>>23959656So their standard Hazel release is gonna be these new proportions? Did they reinforce the waist to deal with more weight? Proportions aside, that's the real flaw of the HG Hazel
>>23959671afaik the joints are 100% new. There's no telling how stable it is until we get a hands on review but promotional images look promising
>>23959656wish they made a version that's an exact copy of the Bandai kit honestly, a good quality bootleg would still be worth a lot. Then again I am the kind of beast that'd replace GM Custom's legs with the GM Quel's because I like the stumpy proportions more.
>>23959648I don't give a shit about scalesBUT MAKE IT TITANS COLORS YOU FUCKS
>>23959688There is a bootleg of the HG Hazel though. I bought it to plug the arms and legs on a Woundwort but I haven't built it yet. Parts look about as sharp as the Bandai version at least.
>>23959702i know there's a bootleg by XFS and maybe another one but AK is on another level compared to other studios, their kits are basically on par with Bandai. It'd be basically like having consistent access to the HG kit proper.
>>23959687Looks interesting. I shit you not I literally have a surplus of like...idk 6 various hazel kits or so laying around as parts fodder but I'd get these if they have improved joints
>>23959667>It's such a waste honestly, completely killed my interest in the kit. Gonna look especially weird if you try to stick any other AoZ gear on it.They hinted that they'll make the Hrududu and Woundwort too. Coincidentally also designs that have MRDs to their name.Dunno what's going on in the bottoms Transpack sections though. Don't recognize any of those backpacks.
Sure wish Sentinel got an ounce of love from bootleggers though. That MRD S Gundam costs a pretty penny these days.
>>23959788if chink are now making figures out of the metal robot spirit molds I don't see why they wont tackle the damn ver ka line, I'm down for an affordable z plus c1, I'm not going to pay 17k jap shekels for that shit
>>23959802I already have that one so I allow Chang to skip it. Sorry boss.
>>23959650Is that a fuel tank on the gun?
>>23959846it seems to be a flamethrower alternate
>>23959444I cant believe how frequently I deal with aoz haters who say it's all slop when suits as sexy as the reben wolf and haze'n-thley ii exist
>>23959784>Don't recognize any of those backpacks.looks like Hizack backpack and Hizack torso
In F90 era the Gigantic Arms went the full circle and are being used as the, uh, arms again.
>>23959709AK stuff are just so good. Their Hizack bootleg is somehow more solid than the Bandai kit due to better polycaps.
>>23959656AK version looks closer to the artwork, i like it. Hazel is supposed to be abit slim. The old HG looks too fat.
>>23960171depends on the depiction I think, some are pretty similar. But it is true that Hazel is usually at least a little slimmer and that has only become more common over time so I can understand people preferring the AK kit's proportions.Personally I'm partial to the more bulky look. There's this interesting dynamic where Hazel is that chunky, almost cumbersome wannabe Gundam that gets even more weighted down and modified to keep pushing it beyond any reasonable limit to keep mimicking the Gundam. The bulky legs in particular are important for that IMO, it's the biggest departure from the humanoid silhouette.Of course Hazel is a Gundam through and through but this undercurrent of *fake vs real" is central to its characteristics.Especially when you also consider the contrast with Woundwort. That one is stranger and far more out there and yet there's that sense of sublime refinement and sophistication that makes it feel like a more "authentic" Gundam.
aww hell it's Jagd Mirage II
>>23960219Hazel is everything Ground Gundam could have been. An imitation that is constantly updated and taken care of instead of becoming a failed disposable unit. They even slapped parts from the better Gundam onto it to make sure the old boy keeps it going.
why is the hazel so popular?
>>23960425I don't think it's more popular than the Woundwort
>>23960442Honestly both of them are equal in popularity, the cult following kind of popularity. Beside AOZ enthusiasts, average Gundam fans think Hazel looks generic and Woundwort looks weird.
>>23960459>Beside AOZ enthusiasts, average Gundam fans think Hazel looks generic and Woundwort looks weird.I assure you there's a lot more people besides proper AoZ fans that look at them and think they're cool and buy them. This goes for pretty much any suit really
>>23960425hazel is "the little guy that tried", everyone loves the udnerdog that is always trying to improve and I guess it succeded becasue its final forms are really superior to the vanilla gundam and the mk ii>>23960442>>23960459woundwort is "petite form with huge dong hanging between its legs? ITS LITERALLY ME!"its improved forms are also cool
>>23959650What's this?
>>23960553Advanced Hizack
>>23960553custom proto Hizack Flight Type
>>23960565Hobby Dengeki calls it " Hizack Icarus prototype unit ".
>>23960570same shit, doesn't matter
>>23960571Different shit, does matter
>>23960565>>23960560Gonna be honest the titans woulda been more interesting if their mobile suits looked like kitbashed EFF units with some Zeon elements instead them always using monoeye suits
>>23960608nah, Zeta designs are perfect
>>23960608this is such a sick ass design
are the AK model kits good? the hizack and woundwort look super cheap compared to the real thing from bandai
>>23960794AK/EW models are fantastic in my experience, basically on par with Bandai molding and even engineering for their original stuff. That's why they tend to be more pricy than crappier bootlegs like XFS, though usually still a tad cheaper than legit kits and don't have to worry about scalping.
>>23959444Does AoZ have military numbers for different fleets and forces in its continuity? I was trying to look this up for UC Gundam but apparently Zeon and Earth only produced 6,000 mobile suits for the OYW which seems tiny.
>>23960871You're gonna be hard pressed to find these sorts of numbers for most things, let alone see them used consistently or treated as anything more than a completely arbitrary number with no greater meaning.Point is, don't sweat this kind of stuff, you're better off speculating what makes sense to you.
>>23960610I know the titans used zeon manufacturing ala operation paperclip but I wish that they had more EFF suits in is what I’m saying, UC engage got it right both sides using GMs
the kit has radically different proportions and is way taller but they are still showing off you can stick Bandai parts onto it
>>23961284I love that they essentially made a revive. It looks like a modern HG with simple frame for the limbs.
>>23961292a revive would at least try to be size accurate, this might as well be 1/120 scale
>>23961294>a revive would at least try to be size accurateLol. Lmao even.
>>23961312Seed is a completely different situation between the extremely varied depictions between linearts, anime and even remaster, the general stylization AND setting materials switching how height is measured there
>>23961316Shut the fuck up
>>23961319make me
>>23961284it's good that there are bootlegs of the Hrududu coming out so you we can make that cannon version for cheap
>>23961312Total head is measured by head, not antenna. The new kit is more accurate
It ain't supposed to be a revive bros
>>23961427Nah. Gouf Ignited is 19m head height yet it looks 2 meters taller than UC Gouf ( 18m) lol. Revive kits tend to baloon the scale, accurate my ass.
>>23961439this looks about right to me really, especially considering Seed is favoring dramatic proportionsanyway offtopic much??
>chang>scalepick one you retard
>>23961451because it's not supposed to be in scale because it's a kit of a non scale figureguys let's leave the pretending to be retarded shtick for /gpg/ please
with all the AOZ kits, both bandai and 3rd party, wat is the largest thing you can realistically build with them?
>>23961529with no modification needed at all? I don't think you can make any official design bigger than Hrairoo with Gigantic Arms. But if you make a way to attach Psycho Mk-II's arms and legs onto Hrududu II then you can make the entire Full Armor Queenly (sans the boosters on the hips) thanks to AK's Advanced Kehaar II
>>23961529some guy made the Queenly albeit with some modifications such as metal rodshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SuRJLTH8ac
>>23961532This would be pretty simple if not expensive>3 3rd party kehaar expansion kits>3 woundworts>2 hrududu iis>hg psycho gundam mark 2
>>23961451Even Bandai kits don't obey the scale lmao. Find me a Wing kit that's actually as small as the in-universe scale.
Presented without comment.
>>23961756the only thing missing is the connecting parts those can't be easy to scratch build though
>>23961294sheesh yeah that's just ridiculous. Instantly lost all interest, wtf is this
>>23960565I like the shark head it's got.
>>23961788so what caused it be Penelope tier in kit form? was Fujioka tripping when he slapped all that shit on the TR6 and claimed it's roughly ExS size?
>>23961806it's just how the kit turned out, proportionally it tracks with Woundwort's slightly upsized dimensions which in turn make for much more reasonable engineering and better part compatibility with other kits. It's not like Fujioka or most other mecha designers have direct control over how the model kits are made anyway. In the first place this is using the now 20 year old design from Flag of Titans that was never totally finished rather than the modern Reboot refined version
>>23961808I don't understand why Bandai scaled the height to be the standard 18m when the Woundwort should be closer to 16 or so. That was the root of it right there.
>>23961809like I said, easier to engineer and to make it compatible with other kits which is one of its main gimmicks. It'd be really difficult to include the transformation and decent articulation if you make the whole thing like 15% smaller or whatever. And sticking Hizack or Hazel legs onto it would also look a bit off in comparison.Besides, people are way too hung up on Woundwort's height when it was never really set in stone beyond one or two rough ideas. The kit's designer said this size is based on setting materials anyway.
>>23961294I don't think this is the AK bootleg
>>23961865it is notit is from another brand
>>23961806>was Fujioka tripping when he slapped all that shit on the TR6 and claimed it's roughly ExS size?Yeah Woundwort is supposed to be tiny and baloons to 19 meters tall upon Hazen Thley customization. It is not that hard to connect the dots. He never claimed Woundwort to be like 18 meters tall or someshit.
>>23961811>The kit's designer said this size is based on setting materials anyway. And the setting material for Wounwort's scale exists. Hazenthley is not supposed to be that big because the giant one is supposed to be, you know, Gigantic.
>>23961895anyone have a pic of a HG HZII next to a Psycho Gundam?
>>23961895So you just kinda didn't read the rest of my reply
>>23961903
>>23961932yeah that's laughable
>>23959444>Kenki Fujioka getting hired by fromsoft for AC7 when?Muthafucka I've been thinking about that for awhile. Also:>GET
So at what point do hazels start clearing zeta/zz era tech? Like is the Hazel Rah better than the MK-II/MK-III/Zeta/ZZ? Or the hazenthley? I just don't get it...Also i wish someone would make some 3p pieces for the MK-V esque faceguard some of the aoz units have.
>>23962273Hazel Rah is said to be about on par or slightly ahead of Anaheim's contemporary binder-equipped mobile suits with Hyaku Shiki and Gundam Mk-III cited as examples, though this is with the caveat of Hrududu being not only much larger but also imbalanced and therefore more difficult to use in practice. This can be compensated for by using two sets for Hazel Rah Second Form, but then agility and range of movement are sacrificed and it functions more like a mobile armor, akin to a cute and tiny Dendrobium.
>>23962276Do you think the Hazenthley is better than the S Gundam specs wise?
>>23963857I don't really care for comparing specs in most cases, but especially when TR-1 Haze'n-thley doesn't even have listed specs. But based on descriptions I don't think it's quite on the same level, though not far off either.TR-1 Haze'n-thley is the point where Hazel was so thoroughly upgraded there are virtually no Quel parts left (strictly speaking even at Hazel Custom stage they were all heavily tuned up) and it's the peak of TR-1 series, but I don't think it's an equal to TR-6 Haze'n-thley II which is set as a counter and parallel to S Gundam. There are obviously a lot of factors that muddy it up and can't be compared directly, plus since TR-1 Haze'n-thley can interface with the entire TR-6 weapon system and adapt but if we're talking about simply the suit as presented I'd put it at least a smidge below S Gundam, maybe akin to Zeta and such.
>>23963857Doesn't Sentinel have some absolutely retarded specs for their MS? I'm talking "author didn't know physics and tacked on a couple extra zeroes" level
>>23959667>>23959784
>>23964099That's interesting and all, but I meant the Hazenthley II. Since it's more of a 1:1 comparison with the S Gundam. My bad.
>>23964260then yeah it's basically equivalent to S and ZZ
Reposting a Messer build I did because it got me thinking. The Messer can use it's back skirts as lift surfaces to improve atmospheric flight capability. It does so in the movies. The Gouf Flight Type had rustic little wings on the side of it's skirt to improve flying ability.I think it's stated somewhere in the lore that some Zeon engineers were Paperclip'd into working on the TR Project designs. The Icarus Hazel is an improvement of the atmospheric flight ideas of the Gouf.Hathatway's Flash is removed enough from the Gryps era that there is no telling where designs idea from the time went. So it's interesting that the Messer is bringing back some elements first seen on the Flight Type.So the Messer could very much trace part of it's genealogy back to the Hazel and it's flight ideas. It's also interesting that the Gustav Karl achieves flight through sheer thrust like the Hazel Icarus while the Messer uses lift surfaces like the Prototype Hazel Icarus.
>>23966745It’s certainly possible, though at this point it’s only mere speculation
>>23966745I think there's something to it, if simply just the concept of using the waist as a mounting point for lifting and air maneuvering surfaces in addition or instead of the backpack. At it's core this is no different from backpack-mounted binders and stabilizers, but the different location allows for simplified backpack structure that focuses purely on thrust. This is more optimal for a machine like Messer since it's not even attempting to truly fly, it focuses on gliding and hovering which is more practical for a suit of that size. But it is interesting how back with Proto Icarus this approach was deemed impractical as it wasn't aerodynamic enough. And yeah, Titans were absolutely using lots and lots of Zeon data. They made a big spiel of having weapons made "by Earthnoids, for Earthnoids" but it's kinda inevitable some Spacenoid personnel wound up working for them, IIRC we have a few explicit examples even. That said I wouldn't really compare Gustav Karl to Hazel Icarus, sure the base principle is the same but that's kind of just the standard. Even by the time of Gryps Conflict regular mobile suits like Marasai and Hyaku Shiki could fly by their own thrust, the limiting factor was somewhat reduced maneuverability and more importantly fuel capacity. They weren't at all optimized for it the way dedicated suits like Byarlant were. Gustav Karl is the same situation, it has enough juice for one or two "jumps" in the air after jumping off a SFS however that's it, the suit is more agile than it appears to be but it's still not at all made for aerial combat the way Messer is. And naturally both are not even comparable to Minovsky Flight-equipped machines.
some chick made a 1/100 Woundwort
>>23966745Messer is a leftover tech from post Zeta era since most of the data made from Geara Doga and Sazabi. It's flight capability is probably from how improved the thruster technology is through out the years, including it's role as Xi Gundam's escort.
Oh, you~
>>23967116I can see a link between the Gustav and Hazel Icarus they are both lardasses that fly through sheer thrust yeah others like the Byarlant could do it but they were more specd for it? more refined? I guess that's the wordHazel Icarus was proof that you can attach enough bells to a design to achieve flight regardless of it's weight
>>23967116Fat ZZ is fat. Chonk
>>23959444So Flag of the Titans is not translated?
>>23967490it's been translated for like three years now
>>23967494No I mean the original photonovel.
>>23967507it's the exact same story without the post-war chapters
>>23967508Oh, so there isn't more commentary technical info in the photonovel about the mobile suits than what's in the pdf novel and Gundam Wiki? I'm just used to there being a lot more gear- and vehicle-specific comments in Imperial Armour.
>>23967541i mean yeah there are mechanical descriptions on the pages dedicated to it but they aren't part of the photonovel itself, so I didn't realize that's what you were referring to. In that case no, I don't think anybody ever tackled translating the entirety of them.
>>23967550Ah, got it. Thank you.
>>23967235Official ships btw
>>23968877"Ships?" What ships...? I don't see any ships- Oh, you're talking about fan-derived mental illness. Nevermind.
>>23968877I can see it for Eliard and Carl lmao. Shame some people are too stupid to understand the concept of one of the biggest foundational pillars of fandoms. And god knows nobody here ever talks about the AoZ spaceships either.
>>23969015The Sand Angler is honestly rad as fuck.
>>23969082But it's not canon. The manga makes that explicit.
>>23969490genuinely who fucking cares
>>23969015Are those hover ships?
>>23969495Sand Angler is, Mud Angler I think is for the canals and is an actual ship
>>23969495Sand Angler has hover units for ground travel but it can also use the Minovsky Storm devices to generate sandstorms and travel underground through the sands of Mars. It also still retains the submarine capabilities
how much Hazel gear do you think could you realistically stick onto a GM III?Pic kinda related
>Pic kinda related
>>23971593It's a stealthtech Hazel
>>23971593>>23971577this site doesn't like me man
>>23971602depends how far you're willing to go and still call it a GM IIIultimately it shares a ton of similarities with the base Hazel and it can swap backpacks to use the TR-spec one and pretty much all the support craft would work with it regardlessit could also receive the same leg modifications hazel did without all that much different of work most likely since the underlying base frame is still heavily a GMIn essence the only thing that makes the GM III not a Hazel is simply not having Hazel parts on it, which it could change out to get as easily as the Hazels were first made
>>23971602Unf man that looks pretty good. Vaguely Thunderbolt-ish.The backpacks are explicitly compatible. So everything you see on a Hazel's back can work. The Hrududu II unit is also pretty much universally supposed to work with everything.
Thoughts on this fan design? Looks pretty good to me.
>>23971630pretty coolio, similar and close to the original yet still very distinctI love the cannon on a wheel
I swear to Christ alive that the Hyzenthlay II was added to EXVS. A version of it, anyway. This was a while ago. I wanna say 4 or 5 years? Can anyone substantiate my claim here? Because I went looking and didn't find anything. But I ain't making shit up, I remember.
>>23971886you're from the alternate timeline where it was hyzenthley and not hyperion is all I can assume
I'm currently working on a project. I'm not particularly a big Gundam fan so I have 0 experience with the specifics. I ran into some deadends and I need you guys' help with figuring out things. The hip mount for one, is something I've been stuck on for months. How does it work?
>>23972218It just plugs into the waist. Pic related. Here's a link for the rest of the kit manual, might help you.https://www.dalong.net/reviews/cg/cgh172/cgh172_i.htm
>>23972218'ere you go
>>23972018I ain't crazy, I swear. I remember vividly. There was a thread on /m/ and everything. But I can't find it on the archive. Probably because everyone spells Hyzenthlay differently.
>>23971630My problem with fan designs is that there is no clear artistic vision behind them. The artists just slap random shapes and mechanical bits together for 50 twitter shares.
Woundworto meido...
>>23972324Yeah but how does it work? I should probably add that I'm designing a 1/60 PG TR-6 with all the mechanics and transformations documented by Fujioka, but his designs arent exactly consistent. The HG barely captures the design, and it partsforms a lot. Even the Metal Damashii couldnt help but partsform. I know the hip mount is attached to the drum as well as the rectangular cutouts, but that's about all I got. They have to rotate 180 too.
>>23973012Lowkey your best bet is gonna be posting about this stuff on twitter, Fujioka is active there a lot and sometimes answers these sorts of questions
>>23972880There is only one person that can do AoZs right. But fans have made some cool stuff.
>>23973012I'm not sure how much this would help but some guy made his own version of a fully transforming TR-6 without partsforming: http://aarumodels.com/?p=162
>>23973008I like women with huge cock
>>23973171Obari-sensei...
>>23973171yeah we can tell, you're in this thread
>>23973135It's interesting but its not exactly very accurate to the source material, and it's missing the level of detail I'm looking for. I'm going to the extreme to make every modular piece, ie the Drum Frame will have the hrududu mounts, the primrose II being used in a.hambrabi and barzam and such. Further more by "parts forming" I mean you should be able to remove pieces of the Wort from the Drum Frame and configure into Hyzenthley or whatever, without minor disassemblyI have to balance all of that along with structural integrity and articulation, as well as an inner frame. Maybe I'm insane but who knows.
>>23973179dude why the fuck are you doing this while not being a big fan?
>>23973179Woundwort can't become Hyzenthlay without structural changes, it shifts to a double drum frame which is essential to its separation and transformation featuresI also second the other anon's question, the hell are you trying to get into this much detail for if you aren't a big fan? Seems strange to me especially when this is a really complicated machine from the pool of Gundam designs. Even in AoZ it's the top of the mountain for complexity. If you aren't a big fan aren't you just setting yourself up for problems?
>>23973179idk if you're doing it just for shits and giggles or to test yourself but godspeed
Modelled the ab pivot today. A lot of considerations but at least the Wort has a fairly large and exposed inner frame. Not sure how to secure the pivot for transformation, maybe a lock like an action base?>>23973451All the components that are on the drum frame are on a detachable clip mount, I will have to design a drum-to-drum mount for Hyzenthlay as well as Reboot Rah II>>23973316>>23973454I hate Gundam I just like Fujioka Kenki's designs
Mint is nice.
>>23973960>I hate Gundam I just like Fujioka Kenki's designsMany are saying this
I know AK bootlegs are supposed to be on the high end price wise but the HG Hazel with all addons going for as much as a Hazenthley II Rah is a bit ridiculous
>>23974396I'm seeing them go for my equivalent of 30 USD (with shipping) and if you can show me where I can get a Haze'n-thley II for that price I'll post my feet pics for free
>>23974398Yeah just the Hazel isn't that expensive. I'll probably end up getting only the Hrududu out of all the addons
>>23974396How much would a Bandai Advanced Hazel plus the Hrududu and Primrose cost though? With all the price hikes those ain't exactly cheap like they used to.Although yeah I ain't buying all the AK accessories. Mostly because the Hazel Rah Second Form is the last Hazel form I'm missing on the shelf.
>>23974424In theory it might be around the same ballpark or actually a bit cheaper but that's not accounting for shipping and assuming you are both buying directly from source (so no store cut let alone scalping) and they are all available which reads like a bad joke even as I write this.Meanwhile AK's set is right there, one click away, any time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJxaXq5HHu0Oh, here is what I was talking about. It wasn't EXVS but this Gundam Battle CN thing. Which seems to be EXVS by another name.Hyzenthlay II Rah right there.
>>23974637UC Freedom Gundam
>>23974637dang I think I can count the polygons herehonestly pretty impressive to make a rather solid model of it with this kind of detail
I still think about these sometimes
>>23977329Nice yaoi hands
>>23971602i want to steal this idea. I've made my own GM-III concept with hyakushiki/nemo/mk-II parts but never thought of using hazel parts. No idea how to scratchbuild but i love this GM III based off hazel concept. Like a GM III if the federation wasn't broke.
I wanna see what Kenki Fujioka’s take on PMX003 The-O would be like
>>23972218Bummer. The drum frame doesn't work as I intended. I have to go back to the drawing board but I have no idea how to construct one. Again, I'm not too familiar with most Gundams so I'm struggling to make something that works.
What would happen if the woundwort was the size of a person and had a fully functional female AI like dolores from Zone of the enders?
>>23978978He will touch The O eventually. Took him a long time to introduce Geymalk and and Zssa.
>>23978978Best we've got for now is Hrairoo Rah II's butt having similar thruster config to The O. Besides all the sub arm stuff anyway.I'd like to at least see something toting The O's beam rifle, preferably modified so the fuckass thing doesn't need dedicated E-Pacs to a different standard. It'd also be cool to see some kind of Titania reference somewhere.>>23979261Even these were sorta indirectly, Fenris Wolf takes after Geymalk but doesn't share many actual parts with it and Zssa is just a modified marine version of the booster, not the suit itself.
Which kits do you guys put your enhanced booster shields on? I’ve had a hard time deciding what I want to do with them because of how little they show up in lineart
>>23979013Honest to god is the Woundwort even a gundam that can be recreated in 1/60 scale accurately, because I'm struggling to even figure out half the mechanics. I've got like 0 engineering background and 0 Gundam building background, am I just retarded or is it really that simple? I see too many modellers just build their Gundams like that, many of them make it transforming too.
There's a million (bootleg) hazel kits. I heard there's a difference between them but I've never done AOZ before. Which one is the good one?
>>23979395I'll explain gwailo >MGthere are three the Custom, Custom in deployment colors and Owslanever built any but I heard they're pretty alright >HGCustom and Custom in deployment colorsagain never built but heard it's alrightthere is also a 1.5 HG made by AK in Custom, deployment and Black Hares colors not out yet but given AK's track record I don't think they'll be anything less than solid
>>23979402By AK you mean the guys behind the Gundam Head GM spartan? Also I heard there are 3rd party accessories out there. Do they all work with every HG in the market?
>>23979478by and large yeah though they might need minor fitment adjustment. After all it's all based on Bandai kits
>>23979478>By AK you mean the guys behind the Gundam Head GM spartan?yupI have that kit and it's pretty good>>23979478>Also I heard there are 3rd party accessories out there. Do they all work with every HG in the market?there are bootlegs of the Hrududu II and Gigantic Arms available also made by AK I thinkthey are coming out with the Primrose Hrududu and High Mobility partsif they work with all HGs I have no idea
The truth is out there
Fujioka saved my life
>>23979263>>23979261I like The-O and not just because V.II Snail and his AC are basically the same
>>23977329I'm curious how the wired arms would work here. On Engage Zero they have a whole control wire doohickey extending from the backpack and going through the elbow joint, the whole arm fires off instead of just the psycommu hand. Naturally Barzam is a more sophisticated and refined machine rather than an early Titans Psycommu test unit so it's a different situation. I think it'd be cool to use the upper arm latches as mounting points for that, this way the arms proper could remain free and usable even when launching all-range attacks. But at the same time the visual appeal of the whole arm launching is hard to deny.
Hrududu Holst is such a simple concept but it's so sexywhen the AK bootleg is out I'll see about trying to stick my Messala's boosters onto it. Then probably put the whole thing on a Hazel but maybe now, just the fighter alone is cool.
Anyone know if the HG Gaplant Hrairoo Titans Color ver can equip a Hrududu II, to make a sort of revive version of the retail kit?
>>23981049You can. But it's not a revive. It's a 1.15 at best.
>>23981049Yeah it definitely can, the Gigantic Arm unit version is just that same kit in different colors + Hrududu II and the arms
>>23981050Yeah I know, I'm mainly just trying to thin out my backlog and I like the added part separation and hands on the Titans ver>>23981051Thanks anon, I hadn't even thought to check the gigantic arm ver despite the fact that I have one in the backlog lol
Do they make bootleg hrududu iis? I kinda wanna make a woundwort rah
>>23979263>Zssa is just a modified marine version of the booster, not the suit itself.Well, Hambrabi appeared in AOZ but it had nothing to do with the original Zeta Hambrabi nor having similar appearance. Conceptually AOZ is a collection of Fujioka's unique take on Zeta MS so you have both regular redesigns of humanoid MS like Hizack, Asshimar, Barzam and weird homages like Fenris Wolf, Big Zamru and Hazel Icarus. Just whatever Fujioka feel like it.
>>23981609yeah AK made a bootleg like 2 years ago or so>>23981648>Well, Hambrabi appeared in AOZ but it had nothing to do with the original Zeta Hambrabi nor having similar appearance.that's just straight up not true
>>23973008Powerful.
>>23981650AOZ Hambrabi was made from scratch. You can argue that it resembles Hambrabi's transformed state a little bit but that's about it.
>>23982667well for starters he had his own fun with the actual hambrabithe hambrabi II is in fact very derived from the hambrabi itself though and never pretends to be anything other than exactly what all the others IIs are, something that isn't the real deal but is functionally fulfilling its specific mission design parameters
>>23982667It absolutely is connected to Hambrabi, the TR-6 names reflect the functionality, not the parts used. Naturally there's a lot of overlap but it's not necessary, see TR-6 Hizack II made entirely with Marasai and Xeku Eins parts because it's just a nickname for low-performance Zeon-family form. Or Hazel II in its most famous form without any TR-1 parts at all because it's the high mobility version and Hazel's nature means a lot of TR-6 loadouts can quality as that.Hambrabi II has many similar structures and equivalent parts, plus it's directly connected to Hambrabi. Original Hrududu doubled as a prototype for it. It's just that due to TR-6's nature in addition to being the high-mobility close combat space fighter it also interfaces with its role as a G-Armor and Core Block System derivative.>>23982676pretty much all this
>>23982754The text specifically said Hambrabi's MA mode, not the technological connection. Hambrabi II was developed from G Parts, which was made from scratch.
>>23982791are you being insufferably obtuse and daft for some higher purpose or just to pass the time?
>>23982676LowZack, Rebaundoc and Nonbrabi are more like joke designs and refered to as new mobilesuits due to their offensive qualities being stripped away. About the actual combat stuff, Hambrabi II and Aqua Hambrabi don't have real humanoid forms like their classic counterpart and their development pipeline don't have the OG being involved as a real data, just aesthetic cues and homages.
>>23982798They have humanoid form by being attached to a mobile suit, that's the Hambrabi MS equivalentAnd arguing there's no connection to Hambrabi, even besides all the explicit text, is grounds for getting declared as legally blind.
>>23982794It is what it is. You can say every gundam came after RX78 were influenced by it's design, but the development pipeline is an entire different subject.
>>23982798They aren't joke designs at all. They're just industrial designs. MS can do more than blow each other up and be interesting. Turning the stinger tail into a drill and the whole thing's transformation into a stable mining platform deal is cool as shit and if you disagree you just kinda suck. He doesn't do a lot with a lot of Z designs. Especially Scirocco designs. That there's even a Hambrabi II and the non-Brabi is probably about what it deserves if not moreso. I don't hate it but it's far from the most inspired and interesting mechanical design of Z. In fact it may be the single laziest transformer of the bunch and maybe even the least compelling of all the Titans MS, dude has no gimmicks except claws in MA mode and Gabthley shits ALL over it at doing that anyway. Well, it has all the monoeyes, that's definitely dope and the stingray design is cool but that's doing so much heavy lifting for an otherwise plain motherfucker.Anyways there's both a directly derived and indirectly derived functional equivalent Hambrabi so your original statement is just silly by whatever metric you wanna choose, honestly just out looking to argue for no reason
lol
>>23982953KINO
>>23982953>you see I realized that smaller Mobile Suits like the TR-6 was an interest-ACKKKKKKK
>>23982973it literally is smaller tho, just look at Galbaldy next to it. Chest is like a third of the size.
>>23959444Really need "Kenki Fujioka type of feel" games. But I know only BA3 can truly satisfy it, for now. I wait.
>>23982973Remove all the weapons and shields and look again.
>>23983063I know nothing about it but apparently Romeo is a Dead Man should qualify. Fujioka literally made mecha designs for it, doesn't get more authentic than that.
>>23982973On a related note I still can't get over that ZZ is a manlet next to CCA era MS
>>23983070>Romeo is a Dead ManWhaaaat? The Suda51 game? What did he design? Didn't look like a mecha game to me.
>>23983075it's in the picno idea how much role it plays in the game, but it is a legally recognized child of Fujioka
>>23983078Ok found a video of it. Apparently it's from the epilogue of the game. Just a cutscene, you don't control it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiddnYr85HQ
I'd give anything to see TR-6 with MP Psycho Gundam limbs or other parts but it's just the exact wrong size, too big for normal limb replacement and too small for giant god-style forms like with regular Psychos
>>23983075He designed that Woundwort look-alike mech. Also several Khara staff worked on the game, too, especially Mahiro Maeda.
>>23984132damn what the hell is this game and how have I never heard even a whisper of it? that's some crazy talent
>>23984137Most of Suda51 games are extremely niche because they just look too grotesque for your stomach to handle.
>>23984115Ok hear me out, MP Psycho Gundam, but give it the big arm and legs unit. Now it’s a real Mass production type psycho gundam
>>23984221Sounds retarded
>>23984221I don't know why but this picture is making me uncomfortable
>>23984221HG HZII is MP Psycho Gundam sized btw
>>23984221G-Doors shames the family line. Using the Psyco Gundam name on it is pretty lame.
>>23984305That is exactly why the Titans would gobfor it
>>23984382valid to be honest
>>23984370Wish there was a kit.
>>23984370Truthfully I don't think G-Doors had a chance to shine. If prototype Sazabi wearing its head could create black holes and fuck with the minds of everyone around it imagine what it could've done in the hands of a capable pilot
>>23984563honestly not very interested in any of thatI just think it's too small to be a Psyco and the designation is kinda lameI like a lot of Moon but it ain't it nor is a lot of the Newtype stuff for me, but there's plenty to like still anyhow so no need to gripe about what I don'tI just particularly think it's a weirdo to get the Mark IV name when it doesn't have the decency to at least be a little large, least more like 25m you know? Whatever though
>>23984370eh I think it's cool, remember the whole thing started with a regular-sized prototype, it was forced to become Perfect Zeong-sized due to imperfect Psycommu technology and associated feature creep to compensate for that like Minovsky Craft.G-Doors returns to the original concept by externalizing the Psycommu, the mobile suit itself is small, simple, agile and effective like the original Gundam. At the same time it goes in a completely different direction from the Gundam Mk-V so it's not samey. Also worth noting G-Doors isn't designed to operate as a single base defense/assault lynchpin the way the first two models are, it's speculated it'd reach its true potential if operated together with them as a tag team, echoing the usual tactic of combining the large mobile armor with an escort suit.
>>23984571>I just particularly think it's a weirdo to get the Mark IV name when it doesn't have the decency to at least be a little large, least more like 25m you know?I believe it is just a post-Zeta era Gundam and a few years before CCA-Hathaway era so the height is the same as MKII, Zeta and ZZ, around 19-20ish meters tall. MKV from Sentinel was an anomaly among it's gundam brothers because it was an attempt to downscale Psycho Gundam and turn it into a mobile suit. Meanwhile G Doors was the more standard rendition and similar to MKII.
Never mind size, G-Doors is just boring as a design.
>>23985142Almost everything in Moon looks boring as fuck. Fundamentally, the silhouette looks intetesting but Gyobu just slap a bunch of panel lines onto the design and suck the fun out of them.
>>23985142you're a boring design

>not sure if cool or creepy
>>23985249>Hamma Hamma but in red!Yeah cool fanfiction bro
>>23985249Moon designs are so hit and miss for me, I don't dig this dude at all. It doesn't really follow as an interesting development of the Hamma Hamma to me and it definitely just looks worse than the OG. Kondo Hamma Hamma this is not. Feel like you gotta be the first person I've seen to call it the coolest shit ever but like what you like friend.Lots of Gyobu's designs feel off to me, I loved his work elsewhere but stuff like the Zaku IV doesn't track very well as a Zaku for me.
>>23985363Geara Doga will always be the real Zaku IV to me. Gyobu's Zaku IV looks more like a souped up Hizack.
>>23973008>>23982643it's canon in SD Gundam too
>>23985548Doga is the heir to the spirit of Zaku family but I still like how Zaku IV doubles down on what made Zaku III stood out instead exactly because there already are other baseline grunt mobile suit models available. There's no sense trying to compete for this role so instead Zaku IV is an outright limited production high-spec versatile escort unit instead.
>>23985894The giant axe feels too IBO to me. If it doesn't have that obsolette melee weapon and Gundam-esque chest design then it might be acceptable as a forgotten attempt at Zaku IV.
>>23986211heat weapons never truly die out and bigger axes are better axesI also feel like at that point in history just having titty vents doesn't mean all that much, it's just a good spot for them
>>23986218This is the best Galluss
>>23986238Gallus J inches over for me, I generally like the ZZ suits more than Fujioka's Mars Zeon units but it's gotten closer over the years. Still, Gallus Sex is hard to argue with, splicing it with Qubeley and Gyan DNA works really darn well.
>>23986238WIsh Zhang did that over the GIII desu.
>>23986218Gyan itself fell out of fashion so that's not saying much. Gallus S has missile fingers similar to J and it is a Zeta era MS so i'm pretty sure it is better than the old busted Zaku. I mean c'mon, it could pack some punches in Unicorn.
>>23986271>Gyan itself fell out of fashionThat's what the Earth Federation wants you to thinkGenuinely kinda lost on what else you're trying to say, I might be stupid.
>>23986279>That's what the Earth Federation wants you to thinkMore like objective fact. Zaku couldn't catch up with Gundam and GM's beam weapon lmao. Heat weapon stopped being useful since 0079.

>>23986753this is so fucking funny to me
do you think the Penelop has shoulder cannons because of this guy? or the Gabthley I guess
>>23987559There's no explicitly stated connection, but it's a good guess as any really. They're both shoulder-mounted beam cannons with a very wide range of movement which is rather rare all things considered.Incidentally Penelope's shoulder cannons are quite peculiar since they were originally dubbed as beam vulcans despite their size, and IIRC some games mention they can emit beam blades too. But for the time being the movies only refer to them as mega particle cannons.Xi meanwhile seems to streamline them into just large beam sabers, despite the mounting point they're functionally close to traditional backpack-mounted sabers. Before the movies some sources had them double as mega particle cannons but it seems movie version doesn't have that besides one oopsie.
>>23987829things are free to change from one source to the next as they always have and always will continue to but the model kit directly calls them sabres
>>23987833ok okay then forgot about that lol
>>23987834It makes a ton of sense and I was happy to see Xi just slice the Gustav Karl in half with the sabres still mounted to the shoulders. For high speed units doing flybys agains traditional shit it's pretty logical to have some articulated sabres.Love how they emphasize these machines as being actual machines that will use weapons in practical ways rather than explicitly always being a proxy for a person in the movies
>>23987836>>23987833also random autism but I like to vent it sometimes so deal with it, but it has bugged me forever they have two separate ports for the composite shield weaponsold sources had the same emitter pulling dual function as so many other things with just a handheld beam sabre stored in the back, or the novel design which definitely has no articulated beam cannon or sabre and just one single port period (but who even knows what it has the novels never say)It just bugs the hell out of me because that little articulated beam cannon looks really silly to me, and the primary beam sabre port is heftyEverything is just so much simpler if it's the same port pulling double dutyThis singular feature drives me nuts about the movie versionAutism over
>>23987838valid to be honest, it IS strange. I like 'em weird but I understand where you're coming from.
>>23987840Yeah honestly I say old sources but it really is a feature of Moriki's redesign, I suppose it was Katoki that made the rear units beam sabresProbably the one thing I really have to thank him for on the design I guess, 100% upgradeI get the thought of it having more field of fire or whatever but it's mounted to an arm already and it's a whole extra little articulated unit and it is just so silly feeling especially if it gets treated like a powerful beam, and tons of things love the "quad beam" attack from Penelope over the years
>>23987846Thinking about it some more, one explanation for it is interpreting these composite weapon units as less "missile launcher plus beam gun" where the beam gun function is pointlessly split into two and rather as the equivalent of "beam gun with missile launcher plus arm-mounted beam saber", thing like old box-type beam sabers directly mounted on the forearm.By this logic the idea could be the saber is kept as an independent module primarily for quick attacks and self-defense rather than regular melee combat (which is unsuitable for Penny's bulky form compared to Xi) so having it be easily accessible at any given moment can be valuable. Therefore beam guns are kept as a separate portion of the same weapon unit so that using one does not interfere with the other at all.Don't get me wrong, it's still a weird choice and the exact design of the folding beam gun is a bit iffy but it's not totally absurd. It is a prototype after all, and by comparison Xi is more streamlined so it can get away with simply using a more traditional shield with a beam gun and missile launchers rather than a one of a kind weapon format.
>>23987947The single thing that still stabs my tism in the heart with any of it is that just above on the shoulders they have the combo guns/sabres apparently, I'm preoccupied so I won't go check if Moriki's original breakdowns highlighted them as such but it's how they are now and having them just next to the forearm units that divide it up totally sends meJust have consistency
I love Woundy's head
Still in need of help with the Hip Mount bit. How does that work?
I'm quite fond of Hazel Rah and it looks really freaking good here. It's just a combo of existing figures but it still has a certain luxurious feel to it.

>>23990332I'm not sure I'm following, Bigwig II doesn't have a claw mode, it's just a fuckheug cannon. It's attacked to Inle's waist section and guided by the lower Haze'n-thley II but I'm not sure about the exact mechanism structure. I'll see if I can find anything.

>>23990418reverse bunnysuit with facemask...
>>23990332>>23990414best look I could find, Fiver II drawings indicate it latches on with a sub arm
>>23990414>>23990422Why does it need a high end MS like the Hyzenthlay II instead of something simpler?
>>23990429Because a) you need a high spec MS to operate the darn thing, processing power and other systems and what not. Of course Inle itself has a lot of that too but it can't hurt to have more. Hazel Owsla could use Bigwig out of necessity but it wasn't ideal, contrast with TR-1 Haze'n-thley which is noted to be capable of itb) operational flexibility and versatility, if something goes wrong you don't want the suit to be completely defenseless. Which is exactly what happened at the Colony Laser battle, Inle was inoperable but Haze'n-thley II rolled out alone and still got shit donec) it's cool

it's tangentially /aoz/ so I'll post it here, the new Metal Composite Gundam Mk-II can use bazooka parts for the classic grenade launcher option BUT it also has this brand new different beam rifle configuration. It's similar to Hazel's rifle form but subtly different still.

That manufacturer doing the MRD Hazel kit is doing some more parts. These images have the the Watership 4.5 logo on them so maybe they're looking in turning their stuff into model kits instead of the resin that they sell (I think it's resin anyway).Meanwhile no word on Bandai doing the next AoZ kit.
>>23998467I don't like this Hazel sculpt but that's still cool, I wonder if AK is using their stuff as well
And here are the 1/144 (ish) Hazels we have now.Left to right:>MRD kit, AK 1.5 HG, original Bandai HGThots? I think something needs to be said about the first two being more accurate to the lineart since they're more slender, but I can't help but prefer the chonk of the 2005 HG. Inaccurate? Perhaps. Cooler? You bet.
>>23998492I'm taking the Bandai HGUC any day of the week for the rest of my life.Yes, it's more bulky than the lineart but the left one definitely overcompensates and ends up too sleek and lanky. Which is fine, that's what MRD is about, it's just not my thing.Something about the AK kit just doesn't feel right honestly, might be due to the pose though.
>>23998492even though Fujioka has a bit of a habit of doing it himself now I'm not big on Hazel's proportions feeling balanced. A big part of the OG Hazel was strapping shit to a frame that worked and it getting kinda sorta nearly theseus'd slowly into its bespoke form. Basically stuff like the leg units feeling too bulky and generally being a little awkward feeling is the true Hazel vibe for me. The sleeker and sexier the typical Hazel legs become the more they end up feeling like what the TR-S has going on with its more advanced form, it's gotta have that fat squat feel to be Hazel to me. That said definitely a lot I still like about the left sculpt. The head is nicer overall for me particularly and the bulge of the chest is nicer shaped.
>>23998492Hazel will always be a slim boy to me but i understand the HG's appeal. The stubby proportion reminds me of Okawara which is something i need more in my life.
>>23999027I believe Hazel having a tall, sleek proportion was there since FOT. Yes it has big feet and calves but it is definitely not a squat.
>>23999392it is on the sleeker side here but the MRD is still on a completely different level
>>23999392Yeah he's varied it from artwork to artwork, it's just always been a thing with him for pretty much any design how it can change proportionally from a higher effort piece of art to other reference ones. The OG lineart tends to have the squatter, "uglier" proportions though. Same with his original Quels vs the newer, rather sleeker ones without calves the size of Oggos.
>>23999501Like as far as Hazel renditions go this guy might as well be a fat little goblin compared to other art but he's my cute little fat little goblin. Obv the subarm unit helps make it feel chunkier here but the way so much bulk is always in the knees and skirt makes it seem vaguely like a fantasy dwarf in my mind or something. I don't know how to put it. Either way, all Hazels are pretty cool for the most part. A couple renditions have made it too skinny for me in fanart but most are great.
>>23999501I don't know where the first Hazel Custom lineart is since that slim looking Hazel was the first one to appear in FOT, there might be a Hazel Custom lineart without the subarm spec somewhere. Fujioka tends to make inconsistencies because he needs the mechs look streamlined upon the customization. Aqua Barzam's lineart literally doesn't make sense once you saw the HG and that is the beauty of it.
>>23999552Wait, found it. The legs actually looks pretty long without the sub arms, i understand why people complain about Katoki now.
Talk about stubby Hazel, is it just me or the HG actually balanced it's proportion out abit? The upper body seems fatter compares to the unorthodox design of the original lineart >>23999562
>>23999562The drawing on the left looks like the exact image that the Metal Robot Damashii is based on. The figure is great but I always thought of Hazel has having chunky legs.>>23999576Some of the kits are a kind of middle ground.
>>23999589Yeah i can see it. The original artwork has weirder proportion though, looks like something came out of Sentinel. The toy looks more standard with slimmer waist and slightly bigger shoulders/head.
>>23999589I always imagine Hazel as a distant ancestor of G Saviour. They give it quick cosmetic change by changing the armor on the spot upon different mission and environment. Fatter legs for subarm, slimmer legs for independant mode, stuff like that.
>>23999601Don’t forget the F90, that too was highly influential in its mission packs that would later influence not just the F91, but also the Crossbone series and even the Victory type’s
>>23999603Zeta era grunts were really a dead end in retrospect. While having high performance, their customization and upgrade potential was too low. No wonder they stopped being around by the time of Victory and eventually G Saviour era.
>>23999606Hizack was a fine machine as a stepping stone, Nemo is a proven design but proven redundant with just later developmentsZaku III despite being really high performance and expensive was also designed heavily for customizability, maintainability and generally upgradability, the Geara Doga is noted as being fairly similar just much more economicalBasically every mainline Zeon grunt has in its core the idea of being a frame adaptable to different roles/modularity startin with the later Zaku II variants in earnest and every successor of it from the jump. They're all fine machines. But Zeon never won, the Feddies did, so the Jegan and its smallscale successors at what got pumped out in infinite numbers compared to all these dudes that were around for a few years of fairly brutal fighting.
>>23999629That Zulu shoulder's cool, pulling it back to Zaku II stylingsReally needs a pan mag MG though
>>23999612GM and Gundam were toying with the similar idea as Zaku II and early Zeon MS. Easy to customize and use them as a pattern to make better, up to date MS. Unlike Zeta and CCA MS, most of the idea to extract some profit margins out of them were sloppy patchworks like Silver Bullet and Geara Zulu. Meanwhile the Fed got so much out of the old busted GM with countless successors using it's pattern. Creating a really strong MS just for the sake of winning without thinking about longetivity like Dennan Zon will lead you nowhere, you might get 1 or 2 successors out of it but sooner or later it is gonna be a dead end cause you can't use it's technology anymore in the next 15 years.
>>23999612Even the Titans with GM/Gundam based technology lost. The bad guys rarely win, simple as that.
The legs fit suspiciously well...
>>24001762This is just Barzam II with extra steps
>>23984221>>23984901>>23985249I wonder if we'll ever get more Moon stuff in AoZ. The fact that G-Doors adheres to the Titans's universal compatibility standard, combined with its superficial resemblance to the Hazels/Mk-II makes me think TR engineers were involved with its development
>>24002431indirectly we have a bit more thanks to F90 Cluster. We know Jegan project began with the idea of a souped up Gundam Mk-II based on the RGM standard but budget cuts after Haman's War forced them to downscale performance and it's theorized this is the point where Barzam and/or TR Plan data was incorporated. This is also around the time when the Jeda was designed based on the initial plan, hence it still retains parts like a Mk-II styled backpack. It's also noted that operational records show discrepancies, suggesting that there were several different prototypes under the RGM-88X label besides the Moon Gundam variation. It's entirely possible there is another "Jeda" predecessor to Jegan that's structurally much closer to Barzam (Jegan already has some similarities) and incorporates SSD equipment.
>>24002431AOZ like the name, covers Zeta related MS. You might see a precursor to Psycho Bawoo and Rick Dijeh down the line, but not CCA related tech like Varguil.
>>24003823we already have CCA related tech and later, MUCH later. Gelgoog III is linked to Sazabi and Reben Wolf has early Geara Doga data in it. You've got no shortage of references to F90 and later too, whether relatively direct connections or just exploring same or similar concepts.
>>24003827Gelgoog III and Reben Wolf's relation to CCA monoeyes are quite distant due to the self contained nature of AOZ. Moon Gundam actually explained where did Sazabi came from instead of just "A is C's inspiration" from the text description, if AOZ covers Moon, it is gonna be Zeta related stuff like Rick Dijeh, Zero Shiki, Psycho Bawoo and probably Dag Doll.
>>24003944sazabi never needed any more explanation than we had in the movie and then we got proto Sazabis in MSV immediately anyway so it's super never needed an explanation and varguil is extremely unnecessary (no shade to it just saying)
>>24003948Well AOZ is full of explanations that are not really needed but still cool to see so i don't mind Varguil. Geara Doga in CCA had good enough explanation as it was>Well, just recreate Zaku II but with better technologyAnd then we got things like Doga and went even further back to the past with Reben Wolf. Do we need more of Geara Doga's ancestry? No, but it is cool and it is good to see more new designs out of it.
>>24004063I'm always of two minds about it. I feel like a lot of UC works are afraid to toy with real new ideas for things. There's only so many prototypes of prototypes a prototype can have retconned in before it's a little silly. AoZ's found a lot more interesting footing in taking designs and carrying forward from them overall than the inverse I think. It might be a hot take but I'd rather more stories just disconnect at least a little. I love AoZ plenty but I also appreciate when things dare to just strike out on their own. The more stuff tries to connect everything the less anything ends up feeling too unique, there's some balance. UC can feel remarkably small as a setting because of how few powers are actually really distinct and doing things through most of the animated timeline. I know all the reasons for that, but even with every explanation I feel like there's some room for some stories surrounding more independent manufacturing blocks or just dudes who aren't using derivatives/ancestors of stuff we know about. Moon can expand a whole story about Moon Moon, a colony lost to civilization, but we're hard pressed to have a story about some singular colony uprising or a resource asteroid that's developed some MS of their own and revolted or whatever. Not saying make it totally un-Gundam either, have some GM IIIs go blow them up yknow, it's cool. Just an entity that makes a world with billions of people in some questionable amount of space colonies around the Earth feel a bit bigger, yknow? Sorry for the rambling, just some musings.
>>24003944AoZ is hardly self-contained, at this point it's been a part of the franchise for more than half its life and it has influenced many other works and is part of the official setting worldview reflected even in Hathaway movies
>>24004431Unless you see a wreckage of Hazel Custom in Hatthaway movie, it is just a backend lore. AOZ is like a modern age Sentinel, you don't need to read it to understand the later UC era, however you do need to watch CCA to fully understand Hathaway and Unicorn or watching F91 to understand why mobile suits in Victory are so small.
>>24004505>it is just a backend loreyeah no shit?
>>24004505you don't need to do any of that, Hathaway contextualizes its plot within itself just fineyou also gain absolutely nothing from watching F91 before Victory, F91 doesn't even "explain" small scale MS it just has them without much commentary. Not like there's really anything to explain though, the giant robots have varied in giant robot sizes and it's a super meaningless detail until you buy scaled gunpla merch.Unicorn might be one of the single best entry points into UC for my money to a new viewer and definitely doesn't need anything viewed before it, even if I have mixed feelings about it as a work it does a wonderful job of outlining the basics of UC in the very first episode.
>>24004516>you also gain absolutely nothing from watching F91 before Victory, F91 doesn't even "explain" small scale MS it just has them without much commentary.F91 has the most important thing to know is that the miniaturized MS are far stronger than any older, bigger MS. You saw Jegan getting owned by a bunch of dwarfs and that is a good set up to understand why everything in Victory looks so disconnected to the previous era of Gundam. Big robots suck now, these 15m tall guys are the shiny new thing.
>>24004536that's really not important
>>24004536You don't need to know that (and it's not true)reminder a ""large"" scale MS shows up and is a veritable monster in the end of VictoryZanneck doesn't give a fuck how strong you think you get for being 15m tall
>>24004516>Hathaway contextualizes its plot within itself just fineLol hell no. If you skipped CCA then you will scratch your head with questions like>Who is Quess and why is Hathaway traumatized by her death?>Char and Amuro are dead? How?
>>24004541Isn't Zanneck like, 19 meters tall? That's as a tall as ZZ lmao.
>>24004545you won't be asking those questions because the movies either blatantly answers them or indirectly answers them if you pay attention and don't treat them as second screen content>>24004550you mean like the Jegans getting btfo in F91? it's the same height
