post mecha you can reasonably work on in your garage

>>23960748[garage explodes]
>>23960769 be careful with that PRF...
>>23960711But anon, aren't we supposed to hate fuchis because it's trans or something? Everyone accuses the show of tranny pandering I don't get it.
>>23960859 shush no shitting where you eat think of what okawara would think
>>23960959 wow, excellent taste
thoughts on open top vs closed cockpits?
>>23960977>>23960979whats this? its neat
>>23961065 it's a design a friend found for me on xitter https://xcancel.com/Stupolevbear/status/1848141226782130353
>>23961063I like both. Open top with maybe a light cover for trainer\recon\military-police\utility models. Enclosed cockpits for frontline\heavy\command models. I can't think of very many machines that had both open and closed hull versions though. Patlabor had a nice balance where a bunch of models had the option to open a top hatch and elevate the pilot seat and controls to let the pilot have a unobstructed view.
>>23961085 >I can't think of very many machines that had both open and closed hull versions though. mostly a lot of fairly obscure ones that do that honestly one i learned about recently is the lynx from heavy gear, apparently started out as basically a motorcycle with a gun but got refitted with a closed cockpit because it was way too easy to take out those open top scopedogs are cool too but you gotta wonder why it's just the scopedog that happens too and not any of the light ATs
>>23961094I think it's just because the scopedog was the most widely manufactured model so you could easily find them in almost any junkyard. a damaged scopedog that got its head shot off or cockpit blown open could be converted into an open-top cabriolet scopedog by bandits with a garage workshop, I guess. the military-grade light ATs still had enclosed cockpits just because they didn't want to have the risk of the pilot being shot, I guessfunny enough the one time the cabriolet scopedog appears, it gets destroyed normally and explodes into pieces by taking some shots to the normally armored midsection, so it having less protection for the pilot and top gunner ended up not mattering at all
>>23961126 ah yeah, the zwergs did seem extremely rare from what i remember
>>23960724i still have these somewhere
>>23961094I love ridebacks.
>>23961155 they're such excellent designs, seriously...
>>23961148I love those little guys.
>>23960711 >Robot Spirits version has different faceplates for the :3 mouth This cockpit size also seems way too large, or maybe the torso/head is too small.
It's also meant to have a sportbike riding position whereas this is more like a standard motorcycle.
>>23960748You'll need a trailer.
>>23961374That looks so fucking rad. Looks like something Studio Nue would make.
M-308 Gunner Custom can fit in a garage right? I love this mofo. Wish it was in Final 2.
>>23961182Peace to you anon
>>23961374>>23961487Because they did. Bless Gall Force.>>23961489Naxat iirc?
>>23960739Called it.
>>23961580Glad I don’t disappoint. >>23961182Bait then?
>>23960711conch will bring me stuff.
>>23961572 ain't gall force ARTMIC?
>>23960959Always loved this fanart.BTW isn't it funny that Mother 3's absolute safety capsule is foreshadowing the innevitable end of rela world multibillionaires, building their faggy underground bunkers to escape AIpocalypse, only to die alone?
>>23960711>>23961602>outshines haro in your pathheh, nothing personal you dumb ball...
>>23961606Yes, Youmex was the publisher then?
>>23961572Tamax. One of the two arcade branches of Irem's parent company.>>23961606>>23961644Nue could have still done the design. Ionno
>>23961631the loop is near perfect.
>>23961687It’s a Sonoda product. Miss this shit much.
>>23961064Rare mention.
The TRAD 11, Gallop, and Crab always seem to have been bundled together even back in the day.
Funny enough, Walker Machines are also likely some of the closest to working like cars ITT.
>>23961736this could have been a 10/10 design or atleast better than the carrier if they gave it a proper cockpit hatch.
>>23961764 just like the bulldog, hercules, and tyrant in patlabor which coincidentally also shared yutaka izubuchi as a designer i would say patlabor is to xabungle what cars are to tractors although since izubuchi wasn't the main designer on xabungle that might be a bit of a stretch, on top of the 6 meter class maybe getting close to too big for the thread
>>23961631Terminal Core!

the scale indicated here might mean i'm cheating a bit, but maybe the people perched on top there are just crouching
some of these designs got reused for carnage heart
>>23966663here are some Carnage Heart designs
>>23966669>robot battle V was an actual fucking gameholy shit, just found out today. thnaks anon
>>23966762 no worries. i'm pretty sure sf3d also had games but they're all kinda unobtainium
>>23966767all the crazy shit that we "miss out" on from being outside japan is nuts
>>23966785
>>23966785 i'm NEVER going to read the SF3D or rideback manga in full it's over i might as well set myself on fire in front of a walmart dude
wait my bad it's robot battle v that had a really cool manga
>>23966767>>23966785Still mad that many games had artstyles that I really like but the fashion passed before 3D games kicked off so all the games I think look the coolest are untranslated pc-98 strategy VN shooting gamu.
>>23967061 the quo vadis mecha are in the 6 meter class? that's neat i figured they were closer to smaller mobile suits
>>23961736Eternal suffering mech (trial edition)
>>23960711Cant get much smaller than Microman
i should get more medabots/LBX images one of these days
>>23960807Diving Beetle me beloved
>>23969943>radio>points to smoke launchers>fuel>points to ammo drum>ammo>points to what may actually be some part of the motor>bayonet>no weapon to attach to>pilot> not sitting on my face
>>23961631second gen ford transit looking cubigga
>>23969978 nta but the smoke launcher arrow is actually up front, the one that says >W-PHOS x4 radio is probably just something else in the weird tube thing they're attached to the real question to ask is if power armor is cheating or not
aw shoot forgot to turn off the name
>>23970921its a war crimes dispenser (WH probs means white phosphorous)plus if the pilots to scale, thats WAY too wide and spread out to be Power armor. probably borderline landmate
>>23970936 >plus if the pilots to scale, thats WAY too wide and spread out to be Power armor. good point. i figured with how similar it was to a SAFS it'd at least be a fair question
>>23970966it definitely feels very much inspired by Ma.K, so fair observation
>>23970975 >saucenao found the artist immediately really damn nice stuff. it feels like fanart of obsolete
obsolete came SO close to being kinobut the alien angle tickled my autism in the wrong way and just soured the experience
>>23970979 having close-to-real weapons hardware in that show was fuckin nuts personally i didn't end up minding it since the aliens ended up going completely unseen
>>23971145BOOBA
>>23962013>this could have been a 10/10 design or atleast better than the carrier if they gave it a proper cockpit hatch.
>>23971842 photoshop? not bad.
>>23971892Some Anon did it when it was first revealed.
>>23961622NoA can rot for how badly they mishandled that series (among others).
>>23960711>animated by woke libcuck sciencenigguI SHANT PARTAKE
do unmanned mecha count?
>>23960711 why does adding a ":3" into anything make it instantly fuckable
23972684Sigh Americans
>>23972684Fuck off vedditor.
Ma.K is a gold mine of small mechs
>>23971007I love the roadrunner so much. Wish it had a model kit
>>23973083 i wonder if you could maybe use an LFO kit to kitbash one since they kinda use the same transforming gimmick pic unrelated ofcourse
Say what you will about Fallout 4 but this screen always got me hyped.I grew in a family of cars guys so there's something very nostalgic and homey about seeing a project vehicle up on the hoist.
>>23973193fugg forgot pic.
>>23973194I have many, many issues with F4, but the game certainly has some cool concept art and adjacent.
>>23973219They even did PA right for themselves, but off context…at least this is some people’s bitch.
>>23970979The aliens barely mattered at all. Even the characters complained how boring first contact is when they're just space jews selling alien tractors
>>23973344Yeah, thats kinda the point of my complaint. Its like, Gasaraki reveals the nonsense about the demon samurai and reincarnation but it never comes up again, and the show is just the grain plot until the end.Why bother with it at all
sorry, didn't realize how big that last one was
>>23972809>>23973047>>23973058>>23973660How would any of these generic armored core looking things fit in your garage, bro.
>>23974063>generic armored core>he doesn't know about 5th genOh anon you sweet summer child. The first and last post you responded to are from Armored Core, specifically V and Verdict Day. After the literal technological burnout from 4th Gen thanks to Kojima Particles, AC's regressed back and became nothing more than a bunch of scrap bolted together and were also shrunken down as a result. They're now in average 5m tall and can fit inside a garage.
>>23973612The reincarnation thing was the explanation why the mechs worked and why they were a dead end. It also covered the character arc of the clone MC, his original's waifu and the Eternal Jew that was harassing them. The grain plot required some kind of military force going rogue to protect the Grain Samurai until Japan's honour could be restored through market manipulation, which was the robot's role. They're two separate things happening in the same world, that's all. Obsolete's problem was that there barely was any plot, just a chain of interesting combat sequences connected by robots holding hands. They tried to do scifi, but they focused on cool fight scenes, which is why they really failed to show people making actual good of those free robots.
>>23972951mald
i watched MADOX 01 and while it was pretty good, i got confused a bit is unit 00 a landmate or a cockpit mecha? the concept art seems to point at a cockpit but it has the same leg braces as unit 01
>>23974555Something more akin to the Aliens power loader. You can properly see where the pilot's legs are on the Moderoid kit.
>>23974572
>>23974572 >>23974573 ah no i know unit 01 is a power armor, the OVA was very explicit about that it was sorta funky how that one guy said 01 has NBC protection even though the pilot is pretty exposed from the back
>>23960769Not All At Once, lol.
>>23960837Never got around to watching Sakura Wars. Is it any good?
>>23974825 play the game if you can, it's a game series first and a multimedia franchise second or fourth or so
>>23974063>Krote>Armored CoreRetard alert
Talk about small mechs, how cool would it be to have a Krote, Gladiator or Dachshund in your garage? Just a bunch of disarmed and harmless relic of war sitting in a corner.
>>23974899 a kangaroo or gladiator seem like they'd be fun to take for joyrides in the woods or something
>>23974908Gladiator has been depicted as a civilian mech inspite of it's name so you can imagine people in SF3D universe just pilot one of these for sport or something.
>>23974913 is it really? i haven't looked at the artbooks at all
Oops. That was meant for the drawthread, my bad.
>>23974924Lore wise, Sturmkafer is the military walker while Gladiator is a mercenary walker, implying that it is a common mech that can be customized into a war machine but not actually a proper one like Sturmkafer. And then the Winter Mute set that straight up depicts Gladiator as a Christmast holiday prop.
>>23974066Haven't seen the movie but are legs really the most efficient choice here? Wouldn't little retractable wheels be better? Or maybe tachikoma style legs?
>>23961736You don't need to die to be in those things anymore?
>>23970921>>23972134this one is really cool sucks that you are basically sentenced to hoping an indie game delivers on something with a similar aesthetic
>>23975064 it's cool... >>23975100 isn't the designer in the gaming industry anyways? also i do remember reading about someone making a 1/35 garage kit of it a while back
>>23961063I do like the idea of open-topped mecha, practicality be damned, because they give a great motorcycle like feel.
sakusen shuuryou motherfuckers, nicely done
>>23975307Hawken CRT, our beloved...
>>23975379>>23975307The best part about Hawken was watching the trash mecha being perfectly camouflaged in front of all the industrial waste littering the levels. They should've leaned into that instead of making it a generic WASD shooter.
Surprised “he” hasn’t shown up.
>>23975382It sounds mildly interesting but doesn't seem to be very fun as a videogame. Unless you make a literal "Mecha Chameleon" streamer game, and even that shit gets stale after a month, while the generic action packed is timeless.
>>23975307LORD KANTI?
>>23976349WoTs and FoW seem to be doing rather well. Apparently, satisfying feedback from hitting and a decently high skill ceiling are what keeps people interested. You'd have to lean towards time attack missions and levels that are either partially randomized or change to make things more challenging for the leading team, I suppose.
I'll just say it: Madhouse GitS was better than what aired. I don't hate this, but I'm not feeling it either.
>>23977097World of Tanks is still an action game as far as can tell. Not to mention if Hawken is a stealth game, any seasoned players will be able to regconize the mecha's components and attack, making the junk camo gimmick redundant.
>>23977111>Madhouse
>No Lagann.:(
>>23977311 maybe next time
