What other mobile suits including the AU can handle beam magnum?
>inb4 IBOfags with their muh anti-beam armor
>>23967157I would assume OP means “handle” as in “wield”
>>23967154Xi Gundam picked up Alyzeus one handed and didn't wobble an inch it would probably be fine.>plz Bandai release a real stream I want to watch this again in HD
The idea that suits blow their fucking arms up shooting never really made much sense to me. Like even if we pretend it's really got that much recoil(it doesn't, or the magnum would be kicking super fucking hard) couldn't you just reinforce the arm? Like why does the silver boolet need spare arms instead of just you know, making the arm stronger? Surely that's cheaper than engineering and supplying an arm change gimmick? Actually, didn't they do exactly that with a mk2? Why didn't they do the same with the silver boolet? If a beefed up mk2 can handle it why can't a much more modern and beefier suit?
>>23967194There is no BD.
>>23967192I'm guessing because it was a slapdash refit, rather than trying to compensate for the fucked up recoil they just threw out a mech that already had detachable arms with a few spares from the warehouse strapped to it.
>>23967154The beam magnum is fucking stupid, there's been similarly superpowered beam weapons before that didn't break the mobile suits to fire, The ZZ had one in its head. Its even more stupid instead of just reinforcing the suit the fucking idiot bolted a whole mini-factory onto his next MS to replace the arm that gets crippled when he fires it.
>>23967268>slap dash>a whole ass dedicated arm slide n switch systemNot to mention the loadout carrying the extra weight of 4 extra arms lmao, fuel canisters (popular in the same era btw) be damned
>>23967395ZZ should've had a turntable of heads on top so it could fire the high mega cannon repeatedly.
>>23967167Bith benchod
The Gouf was shown to be able to pick up a full bodied gundam, by its neck, with no noticeable stress. Wouldn't that mean it might be able to handle the recoil? I know it didn't have the power plant to fire it. But I feel the question was about the recoil.
the GM III, with no modification or improved specs
Can Wing Zero handle beam magnum recoil?
>>23968759This thing tanked a self destruct to the face.
>>23968762So did it's pilot, ergo both heero and kira should be able to shoot beam magnums bare handed.
>>23967154Gundam frame stronk.
>>23967192The Unicorn is supposed to have Fukui OC donut steel psychoframe enhanced strength.
>>23968796The gundanium pilot seat flying out protected Heero from the blast.
>>23967192>>23967154Why not use a recoilless mechanism, especially in space?
Beam Magnum is just the GP02's beam nuke concept but shittier
>>23967836Incorrect, it had a OYW GM arm from the spare parts bin. Also the moral character of the suit matters so it would be >GMIII>Jegan>Gera Doga>Nu Gundam>The Sazabi's cockpit>UnicornThat can handle it.
>>23967192It's even dumber because the beam magnum is on par with a mega launcher. That could be anything from the Hizack's overhead cannon to the Zeta's Hyper Mega Launcher to the Hyaku Shiki's mega bazooka launcher, which the FAHSK's can rival at full power according to some versions. None of those MS ever exploded from using their mega launchers.
It's something that could've been a cool idea if they put a little more thought into it but they didn't and it fell down the wrong side into "that's stupid" valley.
>>23967154Why does this even exist aside from needing to blow up a ship?
>>23971023The idea of a gun that uses up an entire e pack every shot is pretty cool, unfortunately it's handled really dumbly.
>>23970462didn't G04's beam launcher explode?
>>23967666I dont speak mud tongue
>>23971047Why not make it half as strong, then it wouldn't break the arms and could be fired a bit faster.
>>23971171Breaking arms at all is part of why it's dumb, there is no logical reason that it should.
>>23971325Thing is it's not even all that hard to come up with a better piece of fluff to explain it largely working as-is. The special supercapacitors it uses to discharge all that at once give off an electromagnetic pulse that fries electronics not built to withstand it or something. Anything's better than it just being the big cool gun that breaks arms of less cool suits.
>>23967190Damn i thought the poor lighting shitposting was just shitposting, but that is pretty bad
>>23967190>Xi Gundam picked up Alyzeus one handed and didn't wobble an inchThat's called poor, stiff 3D animation.
>>23967395>The beam magnum is fucking stupid, there's been similarly superpowered beam weapons before that didn't break the mobile suits to fire, The ZZ had one in its headThe High Mega Cannon was a weapon made for the ZZ, and the ZZ was built to handle it. Same shit with the Beam Magnum, it only breaks the arms of MS that it wasn't designed for and weren't built to handle it, it works perfectly for its intended units: the Unicorns.
>>23972472As always - it looks good in actual HDR. That is an SDR screenshot of it possibly not being tone mapped correctly for anon.
>>23972667Anon it's a shitty screenshot of a shitty camrip, tone mapping doesn't even hit the top five of picture problems.
>>23971325with the money wasted breaking all those arms, they could've bought a gundam
>>23972768Apologies, I'm just tired of people watching the HDR wrong and bitching about it rather than fixing their setup. The night scenes actually feel like night which I really enjoy.
>>23967157Post Disaster beam weapons are laughable anyway.
>>23967154Coomer Gundam Mk-II
>>23972841Bitch, the people who watched the IMAX screenings at cinemas complained that it looked too dark. If the viewers have to do some fuckery for the scenes to look good, it's because lighting and color grading of the movie itself isn't good.
>>23977819I watched an IMAX screening and it looked fantastic, fuck off.
>>23977866I saw it on one of the biggest Imax screens on the planet. The Oenbelli section was still ridiculously dark!
>>23972768>>23972841That particular camrip is actually brighter compared to what most people saw at the theaters. Hell, it's even brighter compared to the clips Bamco has put out online which is probably close to what the streaming release would look like once it comes out.
>>23977891I did too, and the issue there wasn't so much the darkness of the section as the bright white subtitles on screen at the same time. If they'd dimmed those or something it would've been fine.
>>23977896I should be fair - I think that's the only section of the movie that I'd consider actually troublesome, the rest is perfectly visible it's just an artistic choice I don't like. I hate that cockpit scenes are just washed out murky grey as if there's no light sources at all in thereIt also kinda stands out that the 2d animated scene with the Xi and MP-Nu just happens to be totally lit up normally instead of being obscured like all the CG animated scenes
>>23977918Colour palette is a fair criticism but Gundam's usually treated panoramic cockpits more like windows than emissive displays.Particularly during the big fight at Uluru there's a lot done with lighting coming from weapons fire and explosions. Can't wait for decent rips so I don't have to keep posting screenshots from trailers and the fucking official Sweet Child AMV.
>>23967192Because the author of Unicorn is retarded.
>>23977931In the 360 cockpit do pilots just see beams coming out of nowhere? Or do they see part of a disembodied rifle/arm half-materializing outside the boundaries of the 360 cockpit blind spot?
>>23977963Most depictions that actually try to tackle this have the limbs fade out as they get closer to the cockpit, since the panoramic view is being reconstructed from multiple different sensors anyway. The POV also tends to be elevated to closer to the head to begin with, even though the pilot is physically in the chest in most suits, though that's not fully consistent. That VR interactive movie thing, Silver Phantom, actually had to tackle that. It was hard mode because they put you in a Delta variant with transformation too.Just dug out the first screenshot I had from it, you can't really see the fadeout here but you can see both the Jegan arm and the weird perspective of the cockpit being lower than you expect. Not sure if I actually have any showing how it fades limbs out.
>>23977963You mean enemy beams or their own beams?I feel like it's a setting that can be turned on or off, with the default being off because there isn't much of a point to seeing the arm or weapon. rather than rely on the pilot visually recognizing the arm or weapon is damaged, it'd be better to have some sort of HUD status readout or an audio warning
Master Asia probably uses this as a side arm and mentions it's not as good as his fists afterwards.

>>23967192It’s not about real physical recoil. It’s about electrical supply. Unicorn was mode for it, other MS are not. They only need to supply one shots worth of power to complete a reaction through their ports, not five times that at once.
>>23978534Except that’s false, it breaks the suit’s arm, otherwise if electrical the suit would power down or something. However the silver bullet just change the arm and the delta arm is just broken, so it it recoil
>>23978627All the tech info mentions that it's due to overloading power supply circuits not due to physical recoilIt's specifically about the delivery circuits in the arms apparentlyIt's all really dumb and forced and you'll never hear me argue otherwise but that is in fact their explanation
>>23972667You know, mobile suit Gundam looks equally good or bad on film, CRT, and modern digital hires
>>23978712So we're once again back to how UC can't ever decide how power delivery for beam weapons actually works.
>>23978797sure whateverit's not any more deep than that they wanted the beam rifle to be special again and just mumbojumbo'd an explanationthis is pretty much how all of this works in the first place so you should come to terms with it and stop taking it as some huge failing
>>23978805I'm not one of the prior anons, I'm just pointing out that different works are really inconsistent on what's done by the suit's reactor, what's done by the onboard storage in a weapon and how the two interact.
>>23978807it follows the same basic principles but it's also in there that the beam magnum isn't an ordinary beam rifle/beam, the sheer compression and energy required to dump a whole e-pac in such a short package is supposed to be immense. Likewise the resulting beam has special properties, all just stuff to make it unique and emphasis again a new Gundam that has just the basic Gundam setup of a powerful beam rifle and impenetrable armour (i-field). But this shot property is really distinct ultimately from other high output beam weapons which usually fire as a large, long stream. The magnum is pretty unique because it doesn't really fire beams, it pretty much fires "bullets" of beam. Either way it is the same basic operating principle of supplying power from the MS to an e-pac, but in this case it's just said to be a lot of power that fries circuitry. Some sources state it has actual recoil and the Unicorn can only handle it because it's made with psycoframe, but as far as I know they've settled more on it causing electrical problems at this point probably because it is easier to square away as something we don't know enough about the technical particulars of to say it can't, but they might still be flipflopping on it. Either way you can just ignore whatever you don't like, none of this is real and it can't hurt you, the real canon is the one in your heart that you enjoy and when it comes to shit like this ignoring it or squaring away your own rationale is better than spending too much time getting upset at dudes in Japan having ideas for cool robot gimmicks that don't entirely square with everything else
>>23978827Anon I understand that, I'm not losing sleep over it, it's just annoying when the people making it half-arse it so bad because they want to harken back to early 0079 when the beam rifle was unique and then barely clean up after.I'm capable of both understanding that this is a silly topic and still wanting to talk about it on a mongolian basket weaving enthusiast blog.
>>23978832well my point is they didn't honestly half ass it anymore than pretty much anything and with the explanations they gave there's really nothing contradictorythey're just a little dumbThat's my point, it isn't actually stepping on any toes or contradicting crap, both explanations they give work in their own context. They just require accepting the magnum is a special boy gun which it already is by every trait we really see of it so what's the problem exactly? I got my problems with "psycoframe is super duper strong" personally but it's not the biggest pill gundam's ever asked anyone to swallow, and electrical malfunctions because the gun's got unique power demands isn't a huge ask either to me. There's nothing that wrong with the explanations, at a certain point you just gotta admit the issue is elsewhere and just a matter of taste
>>23978627But they do power down. Look at literally any time it’s been used including Delta Plus and Silver Bullet suppressor. SBS has literal electrical sparks what the fuck do you want >>23978797Except we do. And this is how. The MS provides the final charge to complete the reaction in the gun since the M Particles are pre loaded to a state right before breakdown. It’s always been consistent. Cuck.
