Do you think we men have what it takes to create and maintain a civilization without women? Also, Vandread thread. Does anyone remember it? What are your thoughts?
>>
Vandread is awesome. It's crazy we don't talk about it and Heroic Age all the time in here. Banger shows, the lack of robots I guess.

>Do you think men can live in a society without women
No, have you met your average mouth breather? They think with their penis.
>>

It's funny that you mention Heroic Age because that's the next anime I'm gonna watch after this one. Love me some space operas.
Regardless, Vandread definitely looks the part of an early digital anime, and the CG has aged pretty badly. I feel like I would've enjoyed it more if it was made ~2 years prior.
But I like that the premise is basically Star Trek Voyager where they get sent far away from home and have to find a way back. It has some fun moments too. I enjoyed the episode where they celebrate Christmas on the ship.
>>
I also like how combining the Vanguard and Dreads together results in the pilots sharing a cockpit.
>>
>>23968947
I'm still waiting for the show to be in SRW. X-Omega doesn't count.
>>
Meia was the best girl.
>>
I'm not quite sure I understand what happened to Earth in this anime. Apparently, "humans have reached a saturation in their genetic distribution rate" and have hit an evolutionary dead end. How does that translate to Earth's surface turning into a constant inhospitable storm with a set of giant gears overhead? Why do humans NEED to evolve anyway?
>>
>>23969147
I like this engineer girl.

When Character Developmentā„¢ goes too far.
>>
Interesting ideas dragged down by incredibly generic execution. I really should've liked this show, but was just bored most of the time.
>>23969147
Correct.

He lost his nipples too.
>>
>>23969325
He evolved away his nipples. It was the last step towards that dead end.

No love for this retard?

>the CG has aged pretty badly.
Best part was that they used the CGI almost exclusively in space.
Whenever they were on a planet or something the mechs would be hand drawn to not clash that much.
>>
>>23969364
She's cute and pleasant, but I wouldn't say she's the best. Really most of the characters are at least entertaining.
>>
>>23969364
>>23969376
I consider Dita second best.
>>
>every time they do a new mech combination on the fly, the controls change and they have to guess what all the buttons do
That isn't very reliable...
>>
>>23969384
I'd agree.
>>
Favorite form?

>>23969438
The female form.

X w is like old DD. It had everything. What a shame.
>>
So it would appear that not many people remember this thing.
Regardless, I finished it and I'm left with very mixed feelings. The ending was rushed to hell and back and it wasn't satisfying at all. The world-building gets pretty nonsensical towards the end, as is typical of most anime to be honest. There are individual episodes that I liked, but for the most part this was a drag. Perhaps it deserves to be forgotten.

If you're from SEA in the early 2000's and had access to AXN, then yeah they'd remember. And some of them would consider their favorite anime of that time like me. And by current year standard, they are a minority in a sea of SEAmonkeys plaguing the internet.

sorry vandread sucks theres a reason it's
>Do you think we men have what it takes to create and maintain a civilization without women?
Yes

Bitches can't even make a fucking sandwich anymore.
>>
>>23969147
Honestly, more early to mid-era 2000's shows should have bucked the usual "first girl wins" trend--Hibiki and Meia had a way better dynamic and development in their interactions and was way more entertaining to watch them interact and bounce off of one another. Dita caused way too much trouble for Hibiki for me to find her endearing, even when it turned out that her cheerful ditzy attitude was apparently a facade.
>>
>>23968947
Absolutely loved it. I don't think about it often but it's probably somewhere in my top 20-30
>>
>>23975134
>even when it turned out that her cheerful ditzy attitude was apparently a facade
No that's just how she is. Her saying "I know I'm stupid but I prefer it when people smile" doesn't mean she isn't ditzy.
>>
>>
I still think Barnette is the sexiest
>>
>>23974030
>So it would appear that not many people remember this thing.
I've seen plenty of people remember it. It just kind of doesn't come up a lot but it's generally well regarded. Plenty of people pinning for that third stage.

Thanks for these. I had forgotten all the Raboot knockoff units they had in the show. It's look that it's mecha but not very memorable.

I'm glad that I didn't think that one chocolate girl was the sexiest, because it turns out that she was a man in disguise all along. That would've led to sexual confusion on my part.
