Set in a pre-industrial fantasy where mech are magic and mythological, could that work as a setting? Would you watch it?
its a setting where dragons and golems exist. Im surprised fantasy mechs aren't common. But then no one knows how to be creative with fantasy shit anymore. It's either gay woke slop, or isekai shit.
Consider doing any amount of research on your own before asking questions.
>>23985269The first question you should have asked is whether such series already exist or not. The answer is they do.
>>23985283>>23985288There's just White Knight Chronicles.
>>23985282A Fantasy mech should be described the way Achilles is described in the illiad, how he could singlehandedly turn the tide of a battle, and if seen by the enemy would cause a route. Even the greatest fighter, Hector, felt he stood no chance against him. That alone would be a good enough setting for a fantasy mech series. Then the Odyssey is about Odysseus trying to get home in his ship and he has a fun battle against a cyclops in his mech.
Sure
>>23985291Never heard of Escaflowne??
>>23985269there are plenty of fantasy mecha shows
Knight's & magic is awesome.
>>23985269>could thing that exists work?no
Magic Knight Rayearth
>>23985269Nobunaga Escaflowne GaliantKnights&MagicDunbine Are you stupid?
>>23985568>GaliantGalient doesn't really count since it's just fancy sci fi technology brought to a pre industrial planet
>>23985269No, it's completely impossible. Could never be done.
>>23986166ehh, sufficiently advanceddo a magic dance, do a complicated boot sequence, shit's all the same
>>23985269Step by Bloody Step was pretty good
>>23985269Fantasy mecha is cool as hell.
Fantasy mecha is lame. Why would you need a giant robot when magic exists? It's retarded.
>>23985269Yes. Done a couple of times even.
Golems and magic are literally among the oldest fantasy stories in human history and basically you're fucking retarded
Dragon Quest has robots
I was thinking is Masou Kishin considered fantasy?
>>23987044Yeah, it's not really "medieval", but it's clearly a fantasy world with tons of typical things from Japanese western inspired fantasy.
Break Blade was good until the author got bored and dropped it.
>>23985269Broken Blade isn't necessarily fantasy but it straddles the line between fantasy and sci fi to a degree. It's a great setting and probably my favorite mech explanation and mechanics in any mecha I've ever seen basically all the mechs work because all of the pilots are "mages" and can use mana to animate quartz crystals that interact with their mana, thus making the mech move. So not only is this a cool mechanic for how the mechs(and all the other tech) works in setting, but it also adds another element outside of just piloting ability and know how as someone who is a great pilot but has weak mana isn't going to be the same as someone who is a noob pilot but has strong mana, and thus can squeeze more performance out of the mech
>>23987204>isn't necessarily fantasy but it straddles the line between fantasy and sci fi to a degreesee:>>23986213
>>23987200>>23987204Is Break Blade and Broken Blade for the same series or something. I'm too retarded to figure it out.
>>23987257One is Engrish title and the other isn't
Break Blade sounds better. That said it's a slop anime.
>>23986969Dragon Quest has Everything
>>23985269Mechs can run on steam, of course it will anon. Shit will be sick. Would be funny how many magical bullshittery they will make to explain shit modern machines and systems do that makes contemporary mobile stuff work. Yes I would watch it
>>23986803The mecha IS magic
>>23988521Brilliant I LIKE IT!
>>23985291wish I could find an undub of that
>>23985269casual
>>23986803>>23988521Giant humanoid robots are an obvious, logical application of the magic Law of Similarity.
>>23991002Elaborate?
>>23985269https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9xuDJsjY88
>>23985269Bro has never heard of google
>>23986803What if the giant robot (or construct in this case, I guess) was specifically crafted to combat magic. Or the magic system itself is based around the concept.
Ok but what if the mechs were human sized and piloted by fairies?
>>23994981I can get behind this. Oh and they use their units to fight against the humans?
