A bit trippy, but they did it better that the movie and manga that's for sure.Discuss?
>>23987338SEXBOTS CAN'T ARRIVE ANY SOONER
>>23987338I read like half the first volume of the manga years ago. Is manga/this show Major even the same character as Oshii and SAC major? What are the throughlines?
>>23987366Yeah the body on that bot dammmmn
>>23987371No, Shirow said each iteration of gits is its own universe. SAC, manga/26, 2045, Arise, Movie are different.
>>23987338did they skip the mossad arc?
>>23987462I think they did for very very obvious reasons. It's kind of a touchy thing in the world right now, but yeah they did.
>>23987462>>23987462that is for the final episode so we don't know yet
>>23987338trippy as fuck a damn good portrayal of the chapter
>>23987494To think they did chapter 09 so well can you imagine if Science Saru did Man Machine Interface?
>>23987463The should have just changed it to "Americans"not like there is much of a difference irl rn
>>23987400Trollsubs?
>>23987371The movie mainly adapted two specific stories while skipping most of the manga. The atmosphere and artstyle were different but it wasn't actually a big deviation from what it did adapt. It just focused on a very specific part of the original series.
>Puppet Master doesn't have a male voiceThis series just fucks up every step of the way
>>23988353Honestly, adapting Man-Machine Interface might work if you interspersed some bits of Human Error Processor into some episodes as a kind of concurrently running B-plot to stretch out the runtime into a proper 13 episode cour--because afaik, HEP took place at roughly the same time as MMI, and it was stated somewhere that Man-Machine Interface took place about four months after the end of the original series or something. I might not be 100% correct on that front, though. Either way, Man-Machine Interface is only 11 chapters while Human Error Processor is only 4 chapters, and was originally intended to be a part of the Man-Machine interface manga series, so it should work out just fine.
>>23991857Male voice 2501 was shit Oshii made up, pretty sure Shirow never stated what they would sound like.
>>23991939Yeah some of the character say "that guy", but the puppetmaster's ghost sure had feminine feet. And more importantly, its body looks like Gaia/Erda. Can't really make an earth-mother reference if your character is a guy.
>>23991939oh by the way, Oshii changed his mind and ended up giving it a female voice in the 2.0 remaster.
>>23991912>and was originally intended to be a part of the Man-Machine interface manga seriesIt's a bit complicated, I think I saw Shirow say a lot of HEP was supposed to be part of the first run of the manga, but that he also intended to include more MMI-style stuff into HEP.
>>23991818I think there are massive deviations in terms of worldbuilding, characterization and message though. But it's true that the plot itself, at least the investigation/politics part, is broadly the same
>>23991912Still trying to piece together the timeline. Apparently MiM is years after. But I can see it happening the same time as HEP because Batou days Motoko (Chroma) is cruising in the Pacific.
>>23992462wow can you pan down a little bit when he talks about kanji there?I wanna know what kanji he's talking about cause if "koukaku" happens to mean "processor" in this context then it'd explain a lot
>>23991857I didn't mind that, but the episodes just rush through everything and there's no time to admire all the cool stuff in the world they made. That's something Oshii and Production IG had the right idea for.
>>23992473that's what rewatches are for
>>23992491Nah rewatching something is to get more enjoyment out of something, not to get the enjoyment you should've gotten the first time.
>>23992468I also googled the manga covers from 1991. Apparently the kanji is the same as it is today, so I can't find an example of what he means.
>>23992510well, thanks anywayI'm asking because he seemed to have used the kanji "koukaku" in contexts that have fuckall to do with military shitso my guess was "processor" would work as a common denominator beween-human error processor-the title of orion "roughly translated as magic art tale of the (koukaku)" which would be the naga reactor-(koukaku) computers connected togetherif it could be interpreted as meaning "processor" then it would all make total sense, but it's a made-up kanji so eh
>>23992514According to koukaku lol
>>23992462Right, the Motoko we know, after she fuses with the Puppet Master and mostly cuts contact with Section 9 starts going by an alias as of HEP and MMI. It feels like Batou MIGHT be mistaken when he mentions that the Major was sighted cruising in the Pacific, because when Man Machine Interface starts, we see a lookalike of her that turns out to be one of Motoko Aramaki's spare bodies and avatars that she hops between for her work.Like... these are only three out of like... six bodies she uses over the course of MMI, and iirc one of them was an unrelated police officer she hijacked in the middle of a job. The Major/Chroma herself shows up in a different body, but the fact she makes use of the same kind of digital AI assistant things as Aramaki does muddies the waters a bit, but when we see Major/Chroma again, she's in her original look when someone is attempting to contact her in a manner similar to a seance.
>>23992514Oh hey where do you even get the Orion manga. I can't find anything out there but chapter one. I tried Nyaa, Internet Archive, and Mangadex.
>>23994907catch, nigga/d/dA1PoVkdAnyway I was wrong, there's no way to get "processor" out of the kanjis used for "koukaku"oh well.
>>23995341Ay, yo. Fucking BASED.love me shirow and hyper police
>>23995421:s/hyper police/Mee
>>23987338The newest episode had a bunch of backstory.
>>23996696
>>23996696>>23996697
>>23996750unironically a critical plot point
The voice of Motoko.
>>23996765OH LOOK A JANNU
>>23996765>>23996769>tomboy who hears voices and thinks she's the king's Top Galit just works
>>23987338>OP post image that in reverse image search shows it's from 2001 A Space Odyssey >The week after science saru releases its new episode it has virtually the same image.Does a member of their team post on the board? WTF
>>23996765I wonder if we're going to get the English VA back again. Mary Mcglynn. She's much more memorable to me. The one from the movie and the PSX game doesn't make her seem tough enough.
>>23997421dude there's a couple of 2001 references in the 95 movie too. It's not exactly a mind-blowing comparison to make it's basically what if HAL9000 got to the monolith first.
POLLhttps://strawpoll.com/NoZrzm61BZ3Who is the second best girl after the major?
>>23997774Fuck off.
>>23997774>https://strawpoll.com/NoZrzm61BZ3The Puma Twins are hotter than Grasscutter, and that's a fact. Yon poll's contaminated with fecal brain matter.
>>23997774Come on man you have to admit that Shirow is not very good at creating different looking women. He just changes their hair and outfit for the most part. He's a very cartoonist artist, most of these are the same. Are the fuchikomas a certain sex?
>>23998358>Come on man you have to admit that Shirow is not very good at creating different looking women. he has a type, but you should read Dominion Conflict and APOLOGIZE>Are the fuchikomas a certain sex?nope
>>23998380Oh I only read Orion Appleseed Ghost in the Shell and part of the first chapter of Dominion but no not that part.
>>23998878Dominion Conflict is Shirow firing on all cylinders (except maybe the esoteric philosophical side but presumably that could have kicked in if he had continued it) you should read it
>>23998922>Shirow firing all cylinderspic related Ok I'll check it out
>>23995341i had also been looking for this, bless you anon
>>23999196no problem, just spreading some useful memes (as opposed to empty quotes like in Innocence)
