Is there a reason votoms explode the moment they do so much as trip?
>>23987509Probably has a big engine on a small machine, therefore big explosion
>>23987509It was animated in the 80s.
>>23987509It looks cool.
The fluid used in the artificial muscles is flammable.
>>23987509 >trip >head obliterated + 5 rounds straight through cockpit + probably a missile cel getting struck this dumb westoid meme has gotten too far
>>23987509They're made as cheap as possible, and since they're expendable, they went with highly flammable fuel for them. A well place shot with light them like a firecracker.
i think i remember an anon here talking about how they were designed for reconnaissance and fighting against infantry and not swarm tactics but since they were so numerous they just gave them to everyone
>>23987509It's this >>23987579in universe it's called polymer ringer's solution
>>23987509splosions make for good tee vee
>>23987509The lubricant that gives them those precise motions is also stupidly explosive
>>23987855They were ridiculously effective when the army had all the Scopedogs and their enemies had nothing but small arms with the occasional artillery but they made so damn many of those things that eventually they fell into everyone's hands and the ones that didn't built their own ATs.
>>23987509Canonically, their hydraulic muscle systems are filled with a highly reactive liquid that's under significant pressure.
>>23987855>>23987925Votoms basically replaced all other military tech by undercutting them in price and killing everything else with swarms of mecha. The background writing establishes that war used to be fought using all sorts of different stuff, including loads of those land battleships that show up occasionally, but votoms undercut the entire war market and there was nothing as effective as deploying thousands of the little shits. They're right in that spot where they cost almost nothing, but they run circles around infantry and carry weapons that can let them punch way above their weight, so there's really nothing you can't deploy them against. Any problem can be solved by just throwing more scopedogs at it.
>>23987546I love Taiga posting and Taiga posters:)
Aerial bombardment > Scoopdoogs
>>23987991>Military industrial complex: the anime
>>23987509Chirico isn't piloting them so they suffer catastrophic issues
>>23988034>throws a bunch of conscripts in scopedogs out of a transport into your airfieldYeah nice aerial bombardment nerd
>>23988034>mfw chirico had to evacuate a sunsa bombardment not once but twice
>>23987585 This. Old fatboy clearly got fucked up bad, I don't know why it WOULDN'T explode.
>>23987509>>23987579>>23987869honestly the fragility of AT's is why I've never been fond of them being included in SRW, it just shatters my suspension of disbelief that they'd represent any actual threat in a crossover context compared to almost any other series that's been included in SRW
>>23994407It wasn't the planet destroying city sized magic robots that did it huh
>>23994407This logic is where you wind up with shin getter and gunbuster as angel summoner and everyone else is the bmx bandit.
>>23994407But you didn't say anything when the likes of Knightmare Frames were throwing down with super robots?
>>23994418>Mitchell and Webb reference on 4chanNice
>>23994407Less criminal than nightmare frames clowning on Leos in the Geass/Wing crossover comic
>>23994418But what if the scopedog popped a wheelie and knocked the gun out of the other mechs hand?
>>23987585You wouldn't believe how annoying it was to actually find a gif of an AT exploding despite all the memes
Don't think about Size Scales in SRW too much.
>>23996405There is like a 20% or something (may have that figure on) difference on targeting larger units or smaller units. Sure Ideon and Gunbuster can just stand on votoms baddies to flatten them, but yeeer gotta make it somehow fair lol.
>>23994975That happened in Layzner with the Dtol squad that fights Eiji and co.
>>2399648310% per difference in size, max possible would be like 3L vs 2S for like 50% less damage done or 50% extra evasion depending on who's attacking who. But there's only a couple of games where there's even units on both extremes. If the devs were worried about power scaling they'd end up with jank like Tokusatsu Taisen 2000 again
>>23996483>>23997052That's why the games are always fucking bullshit and I can't stand them.
>>23997070I don't follow
>>23997123nonverbal autism
>>23997070Because Gunbuster should destroy everything and I should just immediately win the game by having it. My power level lists are superior to anything the Japanese think of. There is only one purpose in life and that is to make sure the stuff I likes can always defeat stuff I do not as I crush people that argue with me with extreme prejudice. One day I will gain the power to have anyone that disagrees with me combust on the spot.I am the main character in this life, you are all pawns beneath me.
least delusional gainaxfag
can't have a non-gundam thread without srwfags marvel movie posting all over it
>>23994407Wrong franchise for you to care about shit like that. Chirico critting everything to death in his shitboxes is half the fun.
>>23997070I'm so sorry for your autism.
>>23987509what I want to know is why no one ever used the term "VOTOMS" after the first episodeOr was it the third episode? I forget
>>24003874It's a little silly, isn't it.>is this a votoms?>no it's a scopedog>which is a type of votoms?>no it's a type of armored trooper>okay and those votoms right>...
>>24003874Votoms Episode Three?
Was Mellowlink an abnormal survivor? He's unrelated to Wiseman but I also remember he survived or recovered from pretty ludicrous shit sometimes
>>23994407In the context of the Votoms universe, wars are won by unleashing literally millions of ATs at the problem until you win because this is 2 sides of an entire galaxy fighting.
>>24006295Yeah but it doesn't really work in practice when you have much more powerful robots that should be able to mow down Scopedogs' by the dozens while not taking a scratch from any of them.
>>24006301Look a lot of things in SRW don't make much sense when you clash incompatible universes together.
>>24006313Such as, for example, characters from series where they only fight monsters seeming to have no issue taking human lives
>srw>i draw the line of the size of ATstard
I love how they move
>>24006255the adhoc reframing of Chirico as a literal chosen one instead of a figurative one ruined the entire show. it's basically the opposite of the theme of the series. what the fuck were they smoking.
>>24006493I feel like votoms has some of the worse post-release background writing. Chirico is a quantum immortal and all votoms are one errant spark away from instantly exploding at all times, even during refits? How do they even transport these things without one blowing up and chain-exploding the entire ship?
>>24006593>How do they even transport these things without one blowing up and chain-exploding the entire ship? You don't fill it with the combustible fluid until it's ready to go.
>>23987509>Is there a reason votoms explode the moment they do so much as trip?Same reason why Soviet/Russian made equipment catastrophically explode by just looking at them
>>24006493I didn't find it violently offensive, but turning his base luck into "yeah the bullet will just redirect itself" was a bit bullshit.
>>24006605I feel like they're depicted good to go in whatever state pretty often. There's this one early piece of sidestory writing that has someone almost die from making sparks while just trying to disassemble one of them. It's just too much. They go through some very rough treatment in the show without immediately detonating always and chirico is never wearing any safety gear when he's doing his regular repairs and testing.
>>24006605>>24007298>forgetting about Pailsen Files where all the combustible fluids are locked and stored away somewhere else, safely kept for them to one day explode on their own, never used
That's a lot easier to explain than why anyone bothers to use large ships in Gundam when they can be one-shot by any mobile suit with a beam weapon.
>>24009320True. Also mobile suits nuclearly explode
>>24009320Because you gotta transport those suits to the place where the explosions happen.
Given we have four VOTOMS threads, I opted to choose this one as it's the thread most broad in terms of VOTOMS subject matter. Now, for AT firearms, while most are chambered at 30 millimeters, how many would the guns in the middle and bottom carry? I can imagine the gun in the top would carry between a hundred and one hundred fifty rounds, but if you're using box magazines, how many 30mm rounds can be accommodated?
>>24014120The design of the scopedog rifle magazine has always confused me. I don't see how it could actually work
>>24014255I figure it's just basically a box mag that's more vertical than square.
>>24014332That's how I see, though personally, I would call it a drum (not to be confused with drum magazines normally seen with the M1 Thompson and PPSh) seen with the FN Minimi/M249.
>>24014120>I can imagine the gun in the top would carry between a hundred and one hundred fifty roundslollmao
>>24015103canonically holds 120 rounds
>>24015146What about riflically?
>>24015155riflically it gets a 70mm above-barrel grenade launcher
>>24015146 those sourcebooks are written by gundam people i don't trust them
>>24015146What did the cross eye for Scopedogs do again
>>24015189if it's an autism question you have, your only hope is to get an autism answer from an autism man>>24015216you're gonna have to be more descriptive
>>24015146What about the rifles used by Shako's Bersergas and the Diving Beetle's GAT-19 medium machine gun?
>>24015282>>24015189>those sourcebooks are written by gundam people i don't trust themBetter than nothing. Also, VOTOMS is npt Gundam, so lore policy may be different.
>>24015286Meant "VOTOMS is not Gundam".
>>24015277>you're gonna have to be more descriptiveThere's the green, red, and cross eye for the good ol' scopedog, one's default and the other's for zooming, think one anon said it's a wide lens or other but I don't really know what that is or how it'd differ from the regular view
>>24015296oh, you mean the rotating triple eye thing. it seems to be set up like how smartphones have multiple lenses because each one does a different job betterthe longest one is telephoto, the shortest one with the cross pattern is wide angle, and the last one is called "precision shooting lens" and I have no idea what makes it precision other than maybe it's just a middle of the road lens optimized for the Scopedog's usual range of engagement with most of its weapons.maybe the wide lens has a fisheye-like distortion that makes it not suitable for regular use all the time, and the telephoto is tunnel vision but long range like 8-10x. the precision lens could be like a 1-3x or something like that.>>24015282unfortunately the book don't list them since they're not used by scopedogs. the book in question is "Master File Armored Trooper - AMT-09-ST Scopedog"I'm sure there are other databooks, but this is the only one I happen to have scans of
>>24015324>unfortunately the book don't list them since they're not used by scopedogs. the book in question is "Master File Armored Trooper - AMT-09-ST Scopedog"Thanks
>>24015324 >>24015421 huh. i remember the red lens in the anime specifically being thermals but maybe my memory is failing me
>>24015436Actually I think I remember the same thing. I'm sure there's inconsistency with onscreen depictions of what the lenses do as that's pretty common in long running series.
>>24015282The Votoms Odyssey book states that the Berserga's GAT-40c holds 32 rounds and that the GAT-19 holds 20 rounds.
>>24015457Which I find to be dangerous because it didn't look like Shako, Kiddera, Potaria, and Kan Yu equipped their respective ATs with spare magazines throughout the Kummen arc, though you could say the same with Chirico still having ammo for his Marshydog's GAT-22C machine gun, which should have less ammo than the standard GAT-22, from episodes 21-27 (in Kiddera and Potaria's case, they do switch to Standing Tortoises to infiltrate the Veela Palace alongside Chirico and Fyana in episode 25).
>>24006593Aircraft carriers transport thousands of tons of jet fuel and high explosives but nobody questions why they don't randomly explode.
>>24015479The 22C uses the same size magazine as the standard 22, the 22C just has a short barrel and removed stock for easier handling at the cost of accuracy.
>>24015479 >Which I find to be dangerous because it didn't look like Shako, Kiddera, Potaria, and Kan Yu equipped their respective ATs with spare magazines throughout the Kummen arc the cuts at the bottom of the beetle's backpack are actually mag holders so you'd get 60 rounds... some later versions are modded to also have the space inbetween the cuts also hold 3 mags so i guess it'd be 120 rounds? not bad compared to some ammo stowages on IFVs
>>24015479It would obviously be better to have a couple extra magazines but if found in a dire situation you could pick up and use another ATs weaponry.
>>24015553>double pile bunkerlol it would actually have less penetrative power
>>24015537Nice to know, though I can imagine by the time Chirico cornered Borough in episode 27, the former must have had very little ammunition in the GAT-22C's drum to fight Ypsilon and his Strike Dog afterward, especially they, along with Fyana, were cornered by Gon Nu and the Diving Beetles that came with him.
>>24015324Ok that's... somewhat helpful minus the fact that neither of us seem to know that much about cameras and optics, but thank you!>>24015421>for rain waterOh, that's cool, I did not know that>has a cute lil washer tooAww..
What obscure ATs do you like?
>>24017747 muscle beetle
>>24006480I get up like that too.
>>24006480The forward knee bend is so jarring when it happens but it also wouldn't be a scopedog without it
>>24017965I always saw that to emphasize that ATs are bipedal machines, not metal humans with a human pilot inside, which was the norm since Mazinger Z.
>>24018221It was actually an attempt to add some kind of transformation gimmick to the design because that was Takara's bread and butter as a toymaker. Since it was done after the design was mostly finalized, they had several different proposals like this exploding knees variant.

>>24020767>when ur an exploding coffin on wheels but u roll with your scopebrosWorth it
I just really like the sound they make when they skate around.
>>24014381normally i see people call those just boxes. since it's just a belt in there instead of feeding with a spring like a magazine.
>>24022673"ammo box" feels more like one of those supply crates but maybe i'm just getting too videogamebrained
