-=READ THE GUIDES=-

Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!

For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!

For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.

== STOLEN GROUPBUILD ==

Build a Mecha or vehicle built by one faction, but change its aesthetics and style to its rival faction! Examples include but are not limited to
>Canon examples of mechs being stolen and used by another group (ie: Casval's Gundam, Feddie Zakus, Ashura Mazinger, etc)
>Designs intended for one faction that were repurposed into a design for another faction (ie: Gerbera Tetra)
>What-if scenarios (ie: A Titans color Zeta Gundam)
>Stylistic interpretation (ie: What would a EFF version of the Z'gok look like?)
When it comes to your build, really make it clear that your mecha is being used by the other side!

Here's the thing about the MGEX Mighty Strike Freedom:

1. It was going to get an MG anyways. Since it's fucking Seed, Bandai are going to milk it for all it's worth, especially before too much time passes after the movie. Despite its massive cost, it's going to sell like hotcakes and Bandai would have been fucking stupid not to pounce on the opportunity.

2. It being an MGEX just makes sense. Not only can they recycle most of the MGEX Strike Freedom, but if it had been a regular MG people would have complained that it was a downgrade from the MGEX, and that Bandai were forcing people to buy both and kitbash them so that they can have the "best" version of the Mighty Strike Freedom.

3. Stop thinking of MGEX as its own line, and think of it as a special Revive edition (same also applies to PGU). There are nowhere near enough designs to actually make MGEX its own line, they're just MGs with all the possible bells and whistles. Unicorn was still a mess even after the OVA version fixed the abortion that was the Ver. Ka, and MGEX Strike Freedom was effectively a 2.0 of the old 2006 kit.

The only real question is when we're going to get MG Infinite Justice Type II and MG Destiny Spec II, since their predecessor kits are quite long in the tooth (MG Destiny is a 2007 kit, and MG Infinite Justice is a 2008 kit). Hell, they might be MGEXes as well, at the very least Destiny has enough gimmicks to potentially warrant one, maybe even a P-Bandai Zeus Silhouette. Bandai sure as hell aren't going to pass up that opportunity.
>>
>>23996081
tldr please consoom goyim no ask question
>>
>>23996085
I never said I liked it (I don't) or that I was going to buy it (I won't). I'm just saying that from Bandai's perspective, it made absolutely perfect sense to release a retail MGEX Mighty Strike Freedom. They're definitely going to make a shitload of money from this because 98% of Southeast Asia gobbles up Seed, and unlike the PGU Nu it's still within the realm of affordability for most consumers. The only real surprise is that it took them two years to come out with this announcement, when they probably could have done it last year or even the same year that the movie came out, given how little new development they needed for it.
>>
>>23996081
I was hoping like they could at least also release upgrade parts as like PBandai to turn your MGEX Strike Freedom to Spec-II and/or Mighty Strike like how there is upgrade parts for ZZ ver Ka to Enhanced ZZ

as for MGEX, there could be like other candidates, like MGEX Penelope/Xi since they need to capitalize on Hathaway's Flash
>>
>>23996091
There will probably be Chinese conversion kits for that. Hell, someone might make one for the old 2006 MG, since there are already at least two third-party 1/100 Proud Defenders out in the wild.

I don't see Xi getting an MG until after the movies are all out. And even then, it would be both an engineering and budgeting challenge since the existing HGUC Xi already costs a pretty penny and increasing its size by 44% would probably drive it into MGEX pricing even if it were released as a standard MG. It's going to have to be about the size and bulk of the MG The-O, but with actual MG-quality engineering instead of the oversized HG that The-O turned out to be.

>>

I don't think a Pbandai MGEX Mighty Strike is feasible. It has a handful of new armor parts, especially the new shoulders frame, too. Option set should be some modular and simple, not a scattered component set that ask you to strip naked the base kit.
>>
>>23996107
i think what caused the backlash was because Bandai tried to make a spectacle out of it with that whole teaser thing. the reactions would had been more controlled if they just randomly revealed it during a random day. kinda ironic that nips would rather see an MGEX Astray than this.

Enhanced ZZ ver Ka pbandai parts ask you to disassemble the shoulder, the shield wings, the legs, the knee, the feet, the sabers, the lower stomach sections, just to name a few just to insert the new enhanced parts.

that is more haphazard scatterbrained shit than replacing the old spec I parts to spec II parts

I own the base ZZ and honestly it is not that complicated. ZZ's shoulder thingy and armshields are just huge pegs, the feet assembly is just a sliding. You can remove them easily, unlike Mighty Strike Freedom, the armshield is built into the forearm and the most of armor parts are designed to stay in place. The only modular part is the backpack.

it has a serviciable story with relatively solid characters which are elevated by the stellar work by the VAs. You can see some ideas have been cut and possibly glued back in some places where they did not belong originally, but there is a start-to-finish clear story to follow.
>gameplay
very solid, deserved the award it won back in the day. Compared to old-school AC there is a mechanic taken straight from Sekiro which is OK for the story (for the PvP is debatable) and the aiming system has a (facultative with downsides) lockon system like Souls games.
It's a good game overall and possibly the most polished of all AC games, I would reccomand it

There is this thing called different strokes for different folks. Gunpla in 1/144 has been a poor people brand for decades so they are gonna have a harder time accepting the changes, especially when the kits usually come barebones compares to other brands with like 10 different expressive hands and retail option sets instead of web exclusives.

>>
>>23996561
You know when the supply of something is massively choked that other sources of it get more expensive, right? Plastic products across every market are more expensive now. I have a job where I regularly have to pay for plastics and they got about 20-30% more expensive after the war broke out.
Do you think american gas stations were sell iranian gasoline? No, but it still got more expensive because global demand for petroleum products was constricted. The same thing happened with plastic precursors and plastic got universally more expensive.
Not everything is some doodoo conspiracy to price gouge you.
>>

>Not everything is some doodoo conspiracy to price gouge you.
>Bandai re-releases the MGEX Strike Freedom and pretends it's a new kit for 150 more dollars
prices have been increasing since 2020. Covid was the excuse, then covid ended and there was nothing going on but prices still increased. Then tariffs were the next excuse. Then tariffs were refunded to bandai and now we have Iran being the excuse as to why my plastic robots cost double the price and bandai is still making record breaking profits yearly despite their products being thrown in the trash and nobody buying them.

I'm going to hide any further replies you make, because it's pointless to continue attempting to have a conversation with you.

It is a common belief in these threads that plastic is expensive just because oil is expensive, but that's not really true. You can squeeze out such a huge profit margins from small amount petroleum, the price hike literally doesn't matter. They don't collect random plastic in the wasteland to recycle them, just KPS runners from the donations and then melt them into black gloo. It is actually pretty cheap.
>>
>>23996574
Clear plastic on gloss coat looks good
>>
>>23996579
the GAY EYE feature seems to be adamant that it's far more expensive to recycle it because of the collection, sorting, them chemicals used to melt down the plastic.

>>
>>23996587
Bandai only use chemical recycling for one kit so far which is the NG 1/144 F00 Gundam. The usual ecopla is thermal recycling, they melt the runners using heat which explain why are all end up being black. If gunpla production is that expensive then Bandai would sell 13cm HGs for 100 dollars rather than 20.
>>
>>23996594
>all end up being black
So the boxes that are labeled with ecopla aren't even entirely ecopla, but just the black pieces?
>>
>>23996594
Unfortunately the process of cleaning and sorting out plastic sources for recycling make it a lot less cheap than you think it would be.

>>23996596
They're entirely ecopla. Theres also off white and gray ecopla which can have additional pigments added. Thats why ecopla kits are always kinda funny colored.
>>

>>23996601

As i said before, they use gunpla runner donation. The incineration will probably purge any unwanted properties so there's that.
>>
>>23996611
You still have to sort everything out by type of plastic and remove anything that might be incorrectly put in there. Then there's a washing step because you can't just incinerate the impurities. They actually need removed before recycling because that would just introduce impurities into the plastic. The plastic isn't being incinerated. That would be insane.

Except that's what thermal recyling does, you just burn shit until it melts. I doubt they have that good of a quality control because ecopla and black plastic in general has dogshit quality, probably due to the unwanted things got melted along with it. They probably melted ABS along with it because plenty of brown and black plastic got warped and shrunk over time.

The real reason for the dissappearance of regular MG releases is because the post-COVID contingent of Gundam fan doesn't buy them. I blame every youtuber who ever made a "How to get into gunpla" video for this because for some reason MGs were always described as "harder than HGs". The newer builder is afraid of building MGs and doesn't know gunpla in general is modeling on baby mode
>>
>>23996618
Incineration is not the same thing as getting it hot until it melts. Do you really think the melting point of PS is higher than the point of incinerating every possible impurity? No. There's a washing step.
>>
>>23996625
I always find MG to be the real baby mode because the color separation is so good and parts are easier to be handled by children because there is no way there are gonna swallow a 5cm piece of plastic.
>>
>>23996630
>baby mode is when the model kit is more complicated and has more complex parts to deal with

Well, the whole point of HG is that it's both the "standard" and "economy" option. Small, cheap, easy to assemble, and wide variety. Ease of assembly panders to children building their first gunpla, and enthusiasts are encouraged to paint them for full accuracy (as well as custom paint jobs and the like). Wide variety also panders to enthusiasts because you have all the options in the world for custom kitbashes, and low cost encourages buying lots and lots of it.

>>23996664
They're fun. Of the other five, the only one not really worth watching is Metaverse since it's literally just an advertisement for their failed tie-in game. Build Fighters through Build Divers Re:Rise are more full-length and have actual stories, still largely there to advertise gunpla but it does it in a way that you're willing to excuse. Build Fighters Try is easily the weakest of the four, but it still has its high points.
>>
>>23996667
HG is probably the most ideal scale for adults in such an ironic way. They feel closer to those challenging military scale models with the lack intricate details like driver seat/cockpit and waterslide decals, forcing modelers to either buy 3rd party stuff or make them from scratch. The kids are probably happy with the price and like stickers so that's probably what the 8+ means.
>>
>>23996625
Doesn't make sense since MGs have to had always sell less than the HG line. And beyond that the line was suffering from a slow death since 2016 or so.
>>
>>23996625
I don't buy much gunpla anymore in general thanks to them doing away with MGs. It's mostly just reprints of ones I didn't have at this point. Congratulations, they played themselves.

Bandai has no incentives to make more MGs when their funny line keeps going up year over year. When you think about it, you give Bandai more incentives to make more MGs by buying bootlegs and Changkits than buying everything Bandai puts out. But a couple of anons aren't ready to handle the truth.

It looks industrial, which is actually befitting an RG and a Gundam that was made using the spare parts of other Gundams. And if they move and allow for increased shoulder movement range (without having to move the entire goddamn shoulder armor with it), then all the better.

I have been watching different content creators' reactions to the news and I can't say I felt anyone I've watched was being disingenuous so I'm honestly wondering who you're talking about. To be honest, yours has felt the most like that since even you admit that what they're showing off seems like marketing gimmicks.

Telling people that their criticism won't affect anything is ultimately counterproductive and bad for everyone. It's bad for us as consumers as what we want to buy isn't going to made. It's bad for Bandai as they waste money developing products that aren't going to sell. It's also bad for you as people aren't going to watch the content you make about said products and aren't going to buy said products from places like where you work. If nothing else, people's criticism can be a bellwether for how the market will react to a product and Bandai would be stupid to at least not take it into account.

Just look at the games industry where companies have wasted minimally hundreds of millions of dollars developing games (live service ones especially) a random guy on the street could have told them wouldn't even make its money back. Bandai aren't mindreaders. If the information isn't out there, how are they supposed to know the direction they should go? By the time poor sales numbers come in, it's already too late. How many times has information come out about how someone in Bandai didn't expect one thing or another to blow up in popularity? The Gundam IP itself is an unlikely triumph that was only successfully capitalized on because the people in charge appropriately responded to audience sentiment.
>>
>>23996903

>>
>>23997021
I appreciate and value the perspective you have to offer when it comes to the sheer amount of love and detail you put into kit projects but I really don't think it's out of line to criticize Bandai's production decisions, whether someone's an influencer or not. Or any corporation's production decisions. When most of your market is people who will build and at most do nub clean-up and do a basic panel lining (many of my builds are like this, with an occasional painting project that takes a while longer), it's probably a good thing to at least listen when a majority of people are crying foul. As a consumer I don't buy that negativity is really performative in most of these cases.

This hobby is already a luxury and extreme privilege to experience that many don't have, so I think it's almost always a good thing when influencers/content creators are extremely honest about a kit's negatives before people with less disposable income (not to mention without the resources to use and spend on all the sheer amount of things you need for a really nice paint or custom project) commit to a kit that just isn't going to give them as good an experience out of box, or in this MGEX's case, being too close to the same as the last release with an extreme price increase.

Ultimately, when you've got a very close relationship (employed? idk? it's not entirely clear to me but it seems pretty damn close to employed) with a prominent online gunpla and plamo retailer, you've got a pretty vested interest in getting people to give them (and by extension, Bandai) money, and I do appreciate that you're generally pretty open about that, but it definitely affects my willingness to give you the benefit of the doubt on how genuinely positive or truthful your perspective is.

The "no kit is bad" is really just a perspective from a modeller looking at painting this for competitions, diorama etc. Bandai makes gunpla that double as toys, not just models nowaday, its why we have sliding gimmicks for RG ground gundam and MGSD 00 Raiser. Im more in the toys camp myself, so I appreciate the modern tech and gimmicks bandai has been putting into their models.
>>
>>23997029
Because at some point people realize a lot of plamo tools can be obtained cheaper from generic make up tools and that a lot of painting technique overlaps with plamo painting. Even poorfags/ spacelets who use portable airbrush instead of proper airbrush realized they can just use those meant for painting nails. At some point, the ideation progress. Painting nails is the next logic step.

Don't blame the robot for what the chines- I mean modern bandai did to it. UC One Year War robots were originally designed to be like proper war machines, inspite of them being designed also to be toys. Pic related. Solid armor panels all over with few greebles or panel lines.

I know this is the circlejerk hour but actually talking about the RG Ground Gundam, I love what they did to the shoulders. It's definitely not true in any way to the original design but RG isn't really about that anyway. Hanging armour for the shoulder armour front/rear portions has been on my mind for ages as a design motif and it's cool to see it done here. Big fan of that alone. It's a very practical design element and I always thought shoulders were the perfect place for hinged or hanging armour.
>>
>>23997409
Which is why you talk up the good Chinese kits? I fail to see how having a melty about a toy release is educational.
>>
>>23997406
all fun and games until the resident schizo starts complaining about you talking about the competitors and starts pinning all his grievances on you
>>
>>23997411
> It's a very practical design element
I guess modern tanks use skirts to attach their hinges to protect the wheels and treads, but I don't think it's practical for this. It adds a major weak spot to the shoulder armor that's supposed to be protecting the squishy mechanics beneath.
>>
>>23997419
You gotta keep in mind it's armour intended to protect a joint underneath, so practically comes from design in accomodating (and protecting) that. It can easily raise and lower with the joint behind it without the whole shoulder block moving. It's very practically designed for articulation compared to something like the entire shoulder block rotating with the shoulder joint. Less complexity, less maintenance, in more realistic terms. If the shoulder armour takes a shot it fulfilled its purpose, the hinges connecting them might be vulnerable but so is the actual joint just a few feet next to them and honestly with how they've designed it there's not really much of a way to even shoot the "hinge" so precisely. Moreover if you have a big locked shoulder unit it's that much more difficult to repair. A hanging slab of armour is as simple as simple gets for a shoulder protector, if the block's damaged you can replace it with any crane and a person in minutes.

Ngl /gpg/ this is pissing me off.
>>
>>23997428
>Less complexity, less maintenance
A single piece of armor that rotates with the arm/shoulder is more complex than designing a hinge system that lifts when the arm moves? is light enough that the arm doesn't have to fight it but heavy enough that it will hopefully protect against not just small arms fire but possibly tank rounds? That doesn't sound right.
>>
>>23997428
I would argue that IRL military would detach these elements for maintenance after missions, similar to how planes are partially disassembled after flights (one of the reasons why F-14 were phased out - having to take off plates around wing moving mechanism was just too problematic) and the connection would not be that vulnerable anyway, not much more than actual armour around. It's pretty reasonable overall.

Btw, personally I'm still unsure if gundams should be treated like walking tanks or walking (and occasionally flying) planes.
>>
>>23997433
Yeah, I hate the painted fingernails trend too, it fucking sucks.
>>
>>23997438
Well, I shorthanded a little on that. Such a style of shoulder protection is absolutely capable of being the least mechanically complex since the top portion which holds the front and rear plates doesn't need to move at all, and in fact, no part of the shoulder thus needs to move except for the simple hinged armour plates and you're left simply dealing with fixed structural supports instead of any actual powered joints.
I doubt the shoulder is so simply linked to the torso as this could be done on this particular kit but I didn't go through the video to really see, I'm sure it's still going to be designed around the shoulder armour top bit wrapped around the peg between the torso and the shoulder joint or otherwise affixed to the shoulder.

In either design the shoulder has to lift the armour, the joint must move all that mass when it does. This actually requires less energy because it only needs to concern with lifting the front armour panel, rather than any movement of the shoulder joint requiring the entire mass of the shoulder armour to be moved with it. Especially with some Gundam designs this can lead to some stupid mass distribution for a joint to have to deal with honestly, not so insane for the simple design of Ground Gundam's shoulders though.

>>23997444
I've held a general view forever that in reality most mecha outside the blatantly super robot sphere of things aspire to or otherwise are most similar to helicopters for any practical purposes but nearly every setting is concerned with rule of cool first and foremost and people's tastes on what they envision robots to be is what decides that at any point. 08th MS Team is definitely more on the tanker inspo than anything aerial.

don't like the direction where RG is going.

the first generation RG got some horrible coloring mix like a cluster fuck of color gray mixing with white , blacks mixing with the gray

The second generation of RG generally speaking went a lot muted. For white color mobile suits, there isn't that much of color contrast that really distract the eyes, tallgeese to even God Gundam. follow this direction

But after God Gundam they went back and even went the extra miles by not only having high color difference but also pointless black "dents" all over the place. Rx-78 2.0 just looks bad and ground Gundam is no better.

Though darker color suits usually don't have this problem

They didn't, someone in the marketing department probably googled some 3d designs for MK II and lazily copy pasted it there. The metal structure is very different to this 3d design.
>>
>>23997675
Someone in the comment section said they might have used his 3D model as design reference and accidentally uploaded it as official. They obviously planned this toy 3 years ago but that was probably just a mockup for display.

their preorder system is misleading / a scam. if a preorder isn't listed as "preorder (purchased)" then preordering is just waiting indefinitely, potentially for years, potentially for something that may never be produced.
they do not create the mold and start actually casting the GK until preorders hit their target threshold.

>UC One Year War robots were originally designed to be like proper war machines
No, arguably only the Zaku fit that criteria, most of them were throwaway monster-of-the-week bullshit meant to make the main toy of the show look strong. It was only really when MSV rolled around written by actual military otaku that they started comparing them to real war machines like the Gelgoog's Me262 to the Zaku's BF109.
Even then, the guys who made MSV thought most of the designs were unsalvageable. Like the MSV Goufs not having heat rods because whips on a robot was the most retarded shit ever, or not a single aquatic MSV because they're all ugly sea monsters and if they had their way would be retconned out of existence.
(No, picrel doesn't count because they're not actually MSV, being designed during the run of the original show, but they get lumped in with them for convenience)

I built the Efreet Nacht, with the bright pink sword, and it was so terrible I got discouraged on them and regarded all the bootlegs as trash.

Pleasantly surprised by the Efreet Schneid bootleg. Some flashing, fitment otherwise good.

>The MG The-O was a 2004 MG released in 2010, and its quality is comparable to a 2020 HG.
People forget that not every 2006-2014 MG was a ver. 2.0. The O is of comparable quality of the subsequently released Deathscythe EW and ReZEL. It is vastly superior to the best HG.

I had parts constantly falling out due to being too loose, and the shoulder joints cracked and broke even after I pre-emptively sanded the actual joint balls.

This was XFS so it's possible I got a lemon but given the lack of color separation that should have been present and overall poor feel of the kit you probably got a different bootleg

I also have a half-built Pale Rider Cavalry and Pale Rider Heavy Weapons and those are both nice

Old Boxes? Covers are separated and neatly folded into an easily viewable format and put in a folder for easy viewing. Container portion itself is discarded.
Remainder/Option Parts and Instruction manuals? Put in a plastic bag for each specific kit and organized into separate plastic boxes categorized on type of kit.
Old Runners? Chopped up and uh... now what.

20+ kits from all kind, Bandai HG/MG/RGs/30ML, Moderoids, Kotobukiya MDs and Changs I don't even know how to categorize over a year and half. And the box is nowhere full. >>
>>23998120
So wares blade is a pretty famous (in japan) ttrpg that came out in the late 80s. Its getting an English release in early 2027 thanks to a pretty successful Kickstarter through lion wing publishing. The game plays like AD&D in a sense, it's an old school trpg with very indepth rules on the Ryudes (the Mechs). The setting is like a proto Escaflowne meets the Galient ova meets Record of Lodoss. I'm working on a skirmish game based on these rules and Baron's war.

I'd rather see an MG Reborns or Cherudim first. If Reborns is first, then Cherudim is next. If Cherudim is first, then Reborns is last after all the Season 2 Gundams are released, including the GN Archer. But if they are making an MG Exia 2.0, they have to include the Repair II parts out of the box, and a remake of the Ignition Mode will also come with the Repair I parts, which would also be separately sold in Premium Bandai.

alright, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, the thing about Vallejo is that it doesn't quite stand up to masking process, especially when I wanted to cut the mask directly on the seams no matter what kind of surface prep or how long I allow it to cure. >The O for 12k yen had zero excuse for every major vernier on itto be part separated
Name a single kit with verniers the size of the chest verniers of the O that have them color separated, especially from 2010. I'll wait.
I have no explanation for your personal vendetta against this kit. The 12k price tag is honestly fine when you wind up with a half kilo kit at the end of the build.

Again, you completely ignored the ReZEL and Deathscythe being of similar quality because you can't refute that.

>Chest vernier
who said chest vernier? but sure, here you go, it's called the fucking MG Sazabi you little mouthy retard talkin about shit you don't understand
>personal vendetta
I have no personal vendetta against it. I bought it well after and I like it plenty, it's a centrepiece of one portion of my displays. The idea it was actually some totally great kit and just on par with everything at the time is nonsense by someone who wasn't fucking there and is running defense for the kit for ??? reasons. It was an outdated mold released at a high price point that was a disappointment, and there's a good reason it was a disappointment: because it wasn't matching the standards of the time let alone the expectations of a 12k yen MG.

They aren't of similar quality, period. ReZEL has better colour separation. So does Deathscythe. Both kits actually accurately represent the gimmicks of the kit. The O will never live down not having 4 beam sabres, nevermind being covered in vernier which don't have the decency to be part separated at all from their frame elements in the majority of cases.

Meanwhile this? This right here?
The O wishes. If ReZEL was constructed to the spec of MG The O, this white vernier housing would either be the blue of the leg or just the black of the interior. Which you'd know if you looked at MG The O and MG ReZEL, nevermind actually built them.
>>
>>23998520
You're asking for two part color separation, this isn't even comparable. The verniers on the O are two colors. Grey outer part. Teal inner part (optional dark center, as would need to be colored). The grey is color separated to the same size and degree anywhere as in your sazabi example. You're being intentionally obtuse. The sazabi only needs to achieve half as much.
>The idea it was actually some totally great kit and just on par
I never stated such. I said it was decent, and on par with some of the less impressive kits of the time (ReZEL, Deathscythe (or any Wing MG, honestly)
>>23998527
Oh shit! a giant white piece that can rely on the underlying simple-ass inner frame to separate color! Wonder why the significantly protruding O verniers can't do that!
>>
>>23998530
I'm asking for part separation. I'm not asking for a perfect recreation necessarily. It's actually not that hard though.
>You're being intentionally obtuse.
No, you're being fucking stupid. The centre of Sazabi's shoulder vernier are also black. "Yellow sides, black nozzle in a concave recess" is extremely typical. It's no fucking different bud, it's asking for the same thing: two pieces instead of one. Actually in The O's case, it's more like just asking for any of them to actually even have a piece instead of simply being completely molded as inner frame details.
Do you see how they did the back thrusters? The ones actually separated? They could do that for all of them. They literally could. It is exactly the same as Sazabi's shoulder, fuck it is the same as the collar inserts on The O itself. Insert pieces just like that can fit in all of them and all you're left having to do is paint the flat interior piece black. That would be very easy, you know? The kind of thing a 12k yen model might be expected to do in 2010.
>Oh shit! I don't know how models are made!
Damn man guess what they could do literally the exact same thing with The O's thrusters and it would be an improvement over their design right now. They're kind of an important part of its appearance, being the only detailing visible across most of it between the armour in various forms. You might think a 12k yen model would do something like that.

it's completely doable actually, where would you like me to compare the Sazabi MG Shoulder to on MG The O? I'll put it right next to it just for you.

I just went ahead and did it to the shoulders
Oh my hecking god look at that!
btw ReZEL's clear inserts on the torso? pretty much the same size as it
weird that for a kit that's totally not better engineered than The O btw
tell me more about how I won't own this kit next anyways
>>
>>23998552
congrats, you just demonstrated that the yellow pieces on the sazabi are LARGER than the whole vent on The O. And don't have the central hole you were memeing about!
0/2, an attempt was made
>>
>>23998554
cool that you don't understand depth, they're damn near the same size as the larger holes
of course keep in mind this is in fact a kit made almost 10 years prior so I should really hope they could do better than the Sazabi did right?
>central hole
not sure what you're talking about, they're right there, there's simply no panel lining on the Sazabi. Are you okay?
>>
>>23998557
You do realize that the grey protruding vents on the O are color separation, no? The teal parts you would need here for the full two color separated vents would be 2mm wide at the largest, and 3mm tall. Bandai has never made color separated verniers that small (excepting the yellow rings on RG Nu's forearm). You are quite simple and do not understand the components that would be required to achieve what you are asking for.
>>
>>23998561
You do realize the Sazabi is meant to have black centres (again) right, and that having them built this way is better than the alternative and in fact makes it much easier to get perfect accuracy? Like do you understand anything? I said it wasn't about perfect accuracy, but far better because the important part is the interior colour. The majority of the vernier on The O are larger than that Sazabi vent. I could go around and find even smaller parts if I wanted. They'd made MG F91 by the time The O rolled out I assure you it has even smaller parts than would be needed for 90% of parts to provide reasonable separation to The O's vernier. For fuck's sake F91's backpack vernier are the size of most of them.

You're making weird excuses for a kit that released before you were cognizant of the world and trying to be a revisionist about it. ReZEL is a better kit. Deathscythe is a better kit. The O was an embarrassing release for a lot of reasons and this is one of the bigger ones. A 12k yen kit in 2010 had all the expectations of separating, at the very least, most of them. You act like every piece is the chest because you want to make the strongest little autism argument you can but the fact is the backpack, feet, skirts and several other prominent areas are large pieces that look like shit OOB and there's no excuse you'll ever conjure for it. It's lazy bullshit and that's why it didn't sell. And here you are trying to say "no no it's impossible those giant backpack vernier couldn't possibly be even just two parts" because you're a clown who has decided to be contrarian about something for I don't know what reason, but even in the face of facts you keep deluding yourself about reality.

In short, you're weird.
>>
>>23998569
So you're saying you'd rather have teal vents everywhere, and have to paint the outside grey, and the inside grey as well? Because that's what you would get with the technology of the time. The ReZEL and Deathscythe are 100% comparable and your only attempt at proving otherwise is a singular white piece on the ankle thruster.
No idea why the O pissed in your cornflakes, but it's absolutely wild that you'd shit your pants this hard over some anon calling the kit "pretty decent."
Even if the teal parts were separated out as you want them to be, and you had to fill in the grey centers by hand, you would again be dealing with 1mm to 2.5mm parts to properly color separate the chest and shoulder verniers. You're not even being intentionally obtuse at this point; you're a certified windowlicker.

>Because that's what you'd get with
No it isn't. It literally is not. The majority of The O's vernier have ample room to have an insert piece which is teal in them. The actual, real majority could just accept an insert piece. They are large enough, period, by 2010 standards and even by 2004 standards.
Do you realize how large the foot vernier are on it? They're as big as Gundam chest vents dude. They're not small pieces. This wasn't difficult to do then. They were lazy.
The only sense in which they're comparable is they show how out of date and poorly crafted The O was by comparison. Which, again - is why it didn't ever sell. Can't dodge reality man. It was not made to the degree they could have at the time, not even close. Is it going to explode? Does it give you cancer? Does it implode on itself? No. Is it an alright representation of The O? Sure, except for the fact it costs what it does, which is relatively important to a model kit you have to buy to get.

For the chest shoulders and top of the skirt? Absolutely not possible with the tech of the time.
For the lower skirt and foot thrusters it would be possible, but if you already are going to paint the whole torso, why bother? Paint isn't going to kill you.
>>
>>23998598
I see you now must shift your own goalposts to "and why does part separation matter anyways, don't you wanna PAINT IT?"
Well sorry retard, guess what, it's molded in colour for a reason and there's a reason people value part separation and colour accuracy for these kits and your inability to understand that is quite illuminating as to just how dull you are.

I accept your concession
better luck next time!

Some people here are really retarded, and forget that prices for kits back in the day were also based on how many units bandai expects to sell to turn a profit.
Theres a reason why sazabi ver ka is offensively cheap while O alot despite containing similar plastic content amounts.
>>
>>23998714
They still do that and it's extremely common in any high scale business because of opportunity costs. What do you think they're doing, pricing according to the plastic? The plastic that costs them next to fucking nothing? Prices for toy anime robots are always a product of estimated return, mixed with a lot of logistical elements that actually matter in large scale production like amount of new molds, amount of runners and size of box they necessitate and all the other things that go into releasing a model beyond just the actual plastic.
Perhaps what you, the actual retard, fail to realize is that everyone fucking knows that now and knew that then and it was still an unacceptable price for the release, which is why Bandai didn't reprint it forever. Literally the market decided it was a bad model. They estimated wrong and didn't get a good return at that price because, surprise surprise, you can't just make a stupidly expensive release of a middling-to-low popularity suit AND phone in the quality, because you were banking on the few fans who actually wanted to buy the fucking thing to do so. But when they can't even give it 4 beam sabre blades - always worth remembering The O has a singular gimmick and it involves using more than two fucking beam sabres - then the response is and was the warranted "who the fuck do you think you are, Bandai? I'd pay the tax for an unpopular model if it was a passionate reproduction, but this is lazy as fuck and you clearly didn't really try at all."

And then it didn't get reprinted for the next 15 years.
>>
>>23998732
In hindsight, bandai has always hated the people who made them rich for some reason. When was the last time you got those larger sized pilot models? 20 years ago?
>>
>>23998744
They didn't really do that many of those and I don't really think that many people lament their absence so I understand why they didn't do them.
They also went and did the Hardgraph line for the people who would care and while I have no clue how well it did they certainly didn't keep making more when there were more OYW designs they coulda interpretted in 1/35th for sure. Same with stuff like the EX ship line, a personally lamented loss for me.
