I guess in terms of how happy it ended for everyone, but it bothered me how they wanted to leave a bittersweet ending with Baku sacrificing himself for the greater good, and then in the final scene he's just fine. Either commit or don't bother at all.

Surprisingly comfy final. At least the show ended on a suitable note. But god that second half was rough. Still second best Reiwa after Gavv, I guess...?

A mediocre and forgettable series that, while being far from the worst of this writer, is so middling and boring that it leaves you with no actual emotion by the end, other than indifference. While it had some ok characters, the biggest sin is that they did not know how to make any interesting character relationships or a strong character development arc for anyone outside of the protagonist. Every single supporting character is bland as fuck and good for nothing other than jokes, and that kills any emotional attachment you could have for this story. Despite the twists and turns, it ends up having the same blandness people criticize bad spy stories for, just without the romance usually involved in it.
I probably could have forgiven that had the secondary and tertiary not been the most annoying and evil people in the world that the show expects you to be cool with. Genuinely monstrous people who deserve to die, and yet the show portrays them as heroes. I know this writer loves to do that with his villains, but this was egregious on a whole other level, down to their team-up being pathetic. Like that joke video they made of Agito teaming up with Ryuki riders, including Ouja, but doing it unironically. That's just rubbing salt in the wound.
I can't call it the worst Reiwa show because it's not as offensively bad as they can get, but it's the worst one we've had in quite a while. At least the last two shows, with how bad they could get, still had characters I cared about. I just couldn't wait for this show to be over.
Funnily enough the show right next to this one seems to be very focused on strong character relationships, which is exactly what I need after a year of Baku fixing everything and everyone else just being in awe at how cool he was.

7/10 finale and a 7/10 show, overall I'd say the show had excellent acting and direction, aside from Nox I thought every character was at least fine, most 2-parters were fun, aside from the inserts I loved the music, I appreciate how the show had more bike scenes than usual even though I would have liked for them to go further (I fucking hate bike laws) and the story was all roght. While there were only 4 episodes I straight up didn't like, the story as a whole is really wonky and aside from Baku there really isn't any character I really like despite Nox being the only one I really hate and there being 3 and the Gore nightmares being just OK.

When compared to the rest of Reiwa for me
Gavv >> Saber >> Zeztz > Geats >> Zero-One >> Gotchard >> Black Sun >> Revice
Kami really helped the show for me because I feel several aspects of the writing are way off but the direction him and the other episode directors gave alongside the phenomenal acting from the show made multiple emotional moments and comedy bits land for me. But the cast still feels really misused and Nox is straight up offensive.

My-Th being written by Arakawaa is definitely going to pave the way for an intriguing writer. I think what Reiwa has been lacking is a solid show that also has a solid side cast. Gavv was the closest but it petered out at the end.

>Ending: 10/10
>Series: 7/10
It was far better than I could've imagined. They really tied all loose ends and opened ones up that could lead into newer stories. The fight with Oblivion was serviceable, and ironically the worst part of the episode for me. Because Oblivion's trying the same tricks again, with the same goal in mind again, I really just want to see what they'll do to take him out. And it's a tried and true rider kick with a final form version of the first suit. Complimented by the triple rider kick that preceded it. This was one of Zeztz better looking fights, as predictable as it was.

Props to letting go of the plot with hitting the ground running. I love that the introduction for 8 leaves the audience with confusion about CODE's existence, only to pull the rug from under when she meets Baku. Who is just fine being a dream denizen? He's chilling like Giorno Giovanna after Part 5. There was no real consequence for Baku except he can't return to the real world at will, which seems to be absolved as the intro had the gang waking him up. TBD what his actual status is, but it's looking good. And I loved that Nem is having routine dream trips with still-blind The Lady. Everyone really got the ending they deserved. Even Nox, resigned to an existence of monotony that matches his vagueposting of yore.

Kamen Rider Zeztz is a 7/10. It has everything going for it, the concept, the style, the characters, the music. Aesthetically, 10/10 toku. It drops the ball with halfassing the plot and delegating characters to the sidelines when they're just wasting time in its place. THERE. ARE. SO. MANY. areas of alternate writing, or just plain change of focus that would improve this show's flawed areas immensely. Different decisions need to be made as far as character direction, plot focus, and overall setpiece implementation is handled from here on. But for what it showcased, it had a style and hook that kept me liking it. Its spy edge is its saving grace.
>>
>>24000261
>Gavv was the closest but it petered out at the end.
Saber was, it was more solid than Gavv for 3 out of 4 quarters.
>>
>>24000269
Yeah Saber's only really weak part was the very start. From when the swords of logos turned against Touma was when the show really picked up. It didn't have the best homestretch but it was definitely the most solid of the Reiwas.
I still think Gavv had a better side cast, though, but to each their own. For me, Saber's at least in second.
>>
>>24000261
nta but yeah it always feels like there's a conflict of interest between the writer and producer resulting in the show feeling lacking, Sentai also had a similar feel in the late 10s. I don't really dislike most shows from that period aside from Ninninger, LuPat, Ryusoulger, Revice and Gotchard and I personally really love Gavv but it always feels that there's a big aspects of these shows being butchered in some form.
I'm really excited for My-Th since not only we have Arakawa who's a writer that can work around Takebe's biggest weakness but also both the cast, him and Takebe are working as if this was Takebe's last outing so it seems they're giving it their all, the cast in particular feels kinda stacked.
>>
>>24000224
As a final episode probably an 8 or so.
As a whole series it's pretty middling for me. Some of the fights were cool and the suit designs grew on me but the character work was pretty lacking and especially not helped by all the resets. The other two riders are massive jobbers that get their character development speedran at best. Basically everyone that isn't Baku or Nem [or connected to them directly by blood] feels like an afterthought These last two episodes focused a lot on the power of friendship but with characters who only sometimes share substantial scenes. . It's also kind of jarring that Sieg doesn't have an upgraded suit, especially when he's standing right next to Midnight Shadow and Exdream. There's some good things in here but also a lot of wasted potential, particularly in the Code Somnia arc, which also funnily enough, happens to be the most invested I was in the show. I'm watching Faiz at the moment and that has its flaws as well but I feel more invested in those characters and their factions than I do in the show that was pitched as partially being about spy shenanigans. Honestly, the dream theme is kinda undercooked sometimes too because it's not as trippy as I was hoping for. Especially early on, the "dream world" just looks indistinguishable from the real one. Maybe they should've thrown a filter over it or something
>>
>>24000268
>They really tied all loose ends
They absolutely didn't, I'm currently making an extensive list of all dropped plot points and things they didn't elaborate on.
>>
>>24000236
Everything in that scene should've been the other way around, its like the script had the wrong names and no one realized.
>>
>>24000224
Zeztz is the first series I've watched as it came out weekly so I'm kind of biased but I think it was a solid 7 or 8. The only other reiwa rider I've seen is Geats though.
>>
>>24000224
>Finale
8.5/10. It was pretty good, even if the new form seemed to just be there to beat Oblivion in a non-spectacular way.
>Series
7/10. The best part was early on, when it was MotW Nightmares. The middle portion just after the timeskip was bad, and things didn't pick up again until the Gore Nightmares were introduced. But even then, not as good as the early stuff. Things just became a really confusing web, it wasn't clear what people's motivations were or how they were accomplishing things, what was real and what wasn't, and it devolved into the same 4-5 people having the same fights over and over again.
>>
>>24000282
>They absolutely didn't
I was being sarcastic with that line.
>>
>>24000268
I wish I could be this delusional
>>
>>24000261
Gavv barely had a side cast; it had just 4 characters.
>>
>>24000224
At the very least I feel the show achieved its goal of being a good entry for beginners since for me it took Geats' place as the most 7/10 show in the franchise (which I guess it's fitting for the 7th Reiwa show that's all about 7s) and it made a clear enough distinction so that of you see the show out of context normalfags don't see it as a Power Rangers rip-off which could hopefully open up more people to toku
I usually wouldn't use "hopefully" but it seems most people at Toei are luckily still focused on Japan and are only seeing the rest of the world as a secondary money source amidst the declining economy
>>
>>24000277
>I still think Gavv had a better side cast
More than half of Gavv's side cast is made up by the awful villains that lived longer than they should've and ended up having nothing to do as a result. Hanto was also never quite handled in a satisfying way outside of Frappé's debut arc despite his relationship with the others being great, Rakia's revenge arc was needlessly stretched out with extremely obvious red herrings because they didn't want to off Glotta until the end, Shouma's uncle was wasted potential that didn't get a proper resolution since he's still waiting for Shouma to open up about the truth, and I also hated all the baiting around Dente's death only for him to end up being killed by Glotta of all people.
>>
>>24000293
nta but how's a 7/10 delusional? It's a perfecly fair rating and anon explained his biases
>>
>>24000293
But enough about Zeztzfags.
>>
If they chopped off the last minute of the ending I would've been happier. Like who the fuck decided to slide that in?

Based on how I'm feeling after it's over I'd probably rank it higher than I expected. It's no Gavv, but I really enjoyed the episodic opening cour and the balls they had to pull the premonition twist. There were some nice forms, they pulled off the chest belt IMO, and Dawn is up there as one of my fave tertiaries just for getting to see Tachibana san as a weirdo blonde mafia prince old dude. There was definitely plenty of muddling, Nox was a vagueposter and underutilized, and CODE was a weak antagonist. Once things shifted to the Nightmares as main antagonists it ended up being pretty strong, and the writing was nicely thematic. Also The Lady staying relevant like she did was a big plus in my eyes because her actress gave a kickass performance. Finale was everything one needs from a Rider finale.

A solid 777/10.

Bow down: I am the emperor of dreams;
I crown me with the million-colored sun
Of secret worlds incredible, and take
Their trailing skies for vestment when I soar,
Throned on the mounting zenith, and illume
The spaceward-flown horizons infinite.
Like rampant monsters roaring for their glut,
The fiery-crested oceans rise and rise,
By jealous moons maleficently urged
To follow me for ever; mountains horned
With peaks of sharpest adamant, and mawed
With sulphur-lit volcanoes lava-langued,
Usurp the skies with thunder, but in vain;
And continents of serpent-shapen trees,
With slimy trunks that lengthen league by league,
Pursue my flight through ages spurned to fire
By that supreme ascendance; sorcerers,
And evil kings, predominanthly armed
With scrolls of fulvous dragon-skin whereon
Are worm-like runes of ever-twisting flame,
Would stay me; and the sirens of the stars,
With foam-like songs from silver fragrance wrought,
Would lure me to their crystal reefs; and moons

Where viper-eyed, senescent devils dwell,
With antic gnomes abominably wise,
Heave up their icy horns across my way.
But naught deters me from the goal ordained
By suns and eons and immortal wars,
And sung by moons and motes; the goal whose name
Is all the secret of forgotten glyphs
By sinful gods in torrid rubies writ
For ending of a brazen book; the goal
Whereat my soaring ecstasy may stand
In amplest heavens multiplied to hold
My hordes of thunder-vested avatars,
And Promethèan armies of my thought,
That brandish claspèd levins. There I call
My memories, intolerably clad
In light the peaks of paradise may wear,
And lead the Armageddon of my dreams
Whose instant shout of triumph is become
Immensity's own music: for their feet
Are founded on innumerable worlds,
Remote in alien epochs, and their arms
Upraised, are columns potent to exalt
With ease ineffable the countless thrones
Of all the gods that are or gods to be,
And bear the seats of Asmodai and Set
Above the seventh paradise.

This episode was kind of a letdown after the previous one, it just wasn't as good.

The fight against Oblivion looked neat (the OP references were nice) and the overall message about not forgetting your struggles and using dreams as a way to keep moving forward was fitting, although the discussion about the seemingly endless fight against the Nightmares would've been more interesting if the show had properly addressed Zero's claims about Zeztz's potential ability to destroy the cycle through Catastrophe's power.

Imai's voice acting was strong here. Nox finally decided to act like a proper hero after being an emo doomer for literally the whole show up until this episode, he definitely didn't earn that heroic speech. Sieg going wild in combat is the only thing that justifies his existence as a character to me. Nem helping out once more during the fight was good, although the scene where she grows giant was kinda jarring. Oblivion was kind of a lame final boss, he just felt like a nuisance more than anything.

Heart of Impact being a homage to Ichigou's first suit is neat, but it was little more than a glorified finisher. It also felt somewhat unnecessary, it felt like Nox and Sieg just gave up after they saw that the Triple Rider Kick didn't kill Oblivion (even though he was looking worse for wear than them after it hit him) so that Baku could get the spotlight at the end.

>>24000538
Baku's last farewell before the timeskip felt rushed and wasn't nearly as emotional as I was expecting. The characters didn't feel very affected by his disappearance just months later, except for Minami during two short moments. The slice of life scenes were comfy and the BBQ callback was neat, shame we didn't have many of those kinds of moments throughout the show. The dynamic between the cops and Odaka is solid, but this is literally the first and last time we'll get to see it in the show. Nox absolutely doesn't deserve a happy ending, especially since we see his retarded actions are still causing problems up to the very end. They also completely ignored the existence of Nem's adoptive father.

The Paranormal Division still doesn't seem very useful, they pretty much just exist to inform Baku about Black Cases so he can go take care of the problem himself, and he also personally watches over several dreams at once in case a Nightmare pops up. That scene where Nasuka asked how the Division started only for Nox to say it would be too long of a story to tell felt like a slap in the face, this show just left so many loose ends. Also, we have Minami here grieving because she wishes she knew where Baku was while Nox casually rings him up like it's nothing.

Baku forming his own organization to fight the Nightmares was something I was kinda expecting (it was either that or him reforming CODE) and I like how he emulates Zero by drinking tea at his desk. Eight as a character was kinda whatever since she wasn't introduced until this very episode, but I guess her little arc about leaving CODE was a neat way to cap off Baku and Nox's own character arcs while also showing us that there are still CODE remnants out there. I'm glad Sieg's very last scene in the show was him crying and whining because Nem left him bored and forgotten like he should be, fuck him.

The handoff between Baku and Sora was awkwardly cute.

>>
>>24000541
Nem having dates with her mom inside her dreams was heartwarming, I didn't expect The Lady to show up one more time after last episode. Kinda wish the other dead characters like Zero and Kureha had also appeared in a dream like this.

Baku going to sleep one last time at his office would've been a good way to end the episode, but then it continued. Can't say I was expecting Baku to wake up at the end since I never felt the show was overly happy and optimistic in the way shows like Fourze or Saber were and I was also aware of the summer movie spoilers, but this move made the whole ending feel a lot safer and less memorable imo, even though the last scene made me feel a bit fuzzy and gave me another neat instance of the supporting characters helping Baku out.

Directing-wise, I don't think this finale was up to par with Kami's previous ones.

I give both the finale and the show like a 6.5 or 7 out of 10, they were both kinda mid. Although the show wasn't as frustratingly bad as some other recent ones and it had its fair share of good moments, it's not one I'm eager to revisit anytime soon since my overall experience with it was just meh.

I can’t see how anyone can like that last thing specially when it’s so obvious Toei forced them to put it in to make it a happier ending. The final shot of the Zeztz agency logo was clearly meant to be the last shot, and then they just save Baku at the end with no explanation. Finales have been hated for less in the past. They undid it for a while but Vice still disappeared after that, and he’s not returned since. Ace is still a “god” and only visits his friends when the world’s in danger and the Abyssal sisters are still dead, so ending things in a bittersweet note isn’t unusual for Reiwa series. I don’t know why not end it with Baku on dream world, especially since he still seems alive and protecting people, he’s not stuck in hell or something like that.
>>24000755
I wonder if with all the projects they’re doing for the anniversary and international release of the franchise (Chronicle series, anime project, whatever Premium is) they’re done with V-Cinemas as post series content for a while, saving the money spent on those for other projects.

>Finale
A forgettable final battle where they had to shoehorn the "trio finally fights for a goal" moment because up until then it was all "sasuga Baku-sama". The "final episode form" wasn't even a earned form, Baku literally pulled it out of his ass a few episodes ago and did nothing but spam its finisher. Oblivion was extremely shit as a final boss, it should've been sieg for that "deams vs nightmares" showdown, but they wasted it early on. Toooooooo much time wasted on 8's shenanigans, but I guess that's the movie/V-cin hook, Rid's cameo felt really short and did nothing to showcase either his personality or My-th, and the serie really had to do that last "it was all a dream? :^)" scene, but it could happen after the movie or the specials
>Serie
"Sasuga Baku-sama" all the way down to the end, it had the exact opposite problem than Revice, where you had a MC well fleshed out but kept pilling traits on it instead of giving some to the secondary, tertiary or the side cast, the reset was extremely stupid, the premonition gimmick would've been better at the end of the show, as a last "WOAH" moment, Nem's damsel in distress arc went for way too fucking long, and because she was half nightmare she really had to have a monster form, not just use the dream powers willy nilly. Nox was insufferable up until the last 2 eps, to the point sieg was better. All in all Zeztz is a middle-of-the-road serie, not outright bad but not great either, maybe boring at times.

I liked everyone from the hero cast but Nox, out of the villains I only enjoyed Zero, Lady and Sieg even thought I didn't really disliked any of them, but the only character that really stood out for me was Baku. Aside from the meteor one I enjoyed all of the 2-parter cases, even after the show became serialized I enjoyed most of the individual 2-parter plots. The only 2-parter I outright disliked was the one where Kureha died just because how contrived a lot of that 2-parter was. But ultimately while those 2 were the only bad episodes for me the show as a whole isn't that impressive, specially after the second half. The direction team and the actors also did a phenomenal job here, they managed to make the dream world constantly feel like dreams and be used for fights in spite most battles taking place in urban areas, the really great acting enhances some moments of the story in spite of the shoddy writing at times. The music is also really damn good as usual Sakabe stuff but also Takaki went all out here, my only issue are the insert songs, with the exception of the shitty rap that didn't fit most scenes every insert was only played once and they would awkwardly cut them out for whatever reason.
Despite the episode where he 1v1 Phantom and the final episode help his character a bit Nox just did way too many nefarious things for him to go with virtually no punishment, he's in a similar situation as Gai from Zero-One only that it's enhanced here because Nox is present from the very beginning. It's weird because the cast does rightfully call out Nox's bs a lot but they then proceed to do nothing about it.
(1/2)
>>
>>24001086
There were way to many apocalyptic events, memory erasure and world-scale illusions back to back causing Nasuka and Fujimi to be virtually useless in the second half aside from the end. Sieg as a character was awkwardly placed in the story, despite the start of his arc, ExDream fight and redemption being solid for the rest of the show he feels to detached and essentially a distraction of the story. Five feels way too underexplored as a character, I would have been fine had they given him a TTFC special like Punkjack since he isn't strictly tied to the story but since he doesn't and they try to make you feel bad for him by showing his dad's picture it all just feels forced. In general CODE has a similar issue to Yua in Zero-One where they try to make a story about "breaking out from the cogs in the machine" but by barely giving a backstory to them they end actually feeling like machines in spite of the story arguing against it. There are also some stuff that's really weird they never brought over back to give some further emotional cadence like Nox being Baku's teacher or Nem's dad, I feel that 8 calling Nox her sensei implies that she was also someone groomed by Nox but they hardly acknowledge the fact that Nox mentor Kureha and Baku, or the general consequences of it.

Overall the show is pretty good since it manages to continously entertain but the show is more of a cool execution of a poor story, so many elements are wonky but the cast and directors were giving it their all. It really confuses me how a show where the producer is allagedly meticulously overseeing the story, to the point he divides his other roles with other people all while the show is written by 1 writer, somehow ended up feeling as a bunch episode writers giving out interesting ideas without cohesion to be dropped at the drop of a hat.

>>24001112
Yeah. I liked the reset initially because Baku competently preventing the motw from happening by not allowing Bomb to reach real life and him immediately infodumping the cast without being vague was cool and it seemed like Sieg would be fun due to his introduction.
But this led Nem to become useless since all the progress of her powers were erased, I initially really liked her in the first half but with her not having powers and the lack of motw resulting in her not being able to help in the dream she just felt like Koyomi 2.0 in the second half. Also due tor contrived writing Baku failed to save 5 and 6 anyway and Sieg meandered a lot. The reset also initially seemed to have at least spared Nox from his sins since his actions had been erased but he then ends up causing Zero's dead in a really forced manner. It ultimately felt like the reset didn't contribute much aside from reviving everyone that died in the last 4 episodes of the prior loop.

Because Oblivion is directly tied to Nem, who has now embraced her fears and suffering and thus weakens Oblivion and strengthens her allies, rendering them immune to being erased / simply recreating their weapons and giving them back to the Rider. The key part was not the Riders, but Nem overcoming her own nightmare, hence the scene where she becomes Ultragirl and yeets Oblivion into oblivion.

This has always been retarded. I get finishing a bad movie because that's one sitting anyway but finishing a bad 50 episode show hating it the entire time is pathetic
>>
>>24002253
I liked Zeztz but personally I've done that with some shows because of an autistic drive where I feel I'm not being fair to the show by dropping it which is a pretty dumb reason if I'm being honest
I don't know if other anons are like that
>>

People didn't hate Zeztz at the start. Watching the whole thing yourself is the only way to judge it fairly and find out if you personally like it or not, it could always improve even if it's just for one or two episodes, and the ending sometimes makes or breaks a show for people.
>>

>>
>>24002388
I would have said that those were zoomer speedwatchers who are allergic to episodic storytelling but I'm 22 and I continously liked the first half so idk
I mean I enjoyed the reset at first but I was surprised to see many anons at the time saying they hated the motw and the sidecast when they were actually pretty useful in the first half, main issue with the first half is once again just Nox being a vague cunt
>>
>>24002400
I really enjoyed Zeztz as well, and would respectfully give it a 7 or 7.5/10 with its biggest flaws being cast juggling and not really utilizing the cast it had to its full potential. I've noticed a lot of the people complaining about Zeztz usually have shit taste too and spend every waking moment screeching about it in these threads until they're blue in the face. Zeztz is far from being my favorite but it's also not as bad as something like... Saber.
>>

Same 22-year old, I would also give Zeztz a 7/10 though personally I liked Saber more than Zeztz despite having more episodes that I didn't like because from Q2 onward I thought the show was just that good, I'm >>24001086 btw.
But also I get most people that genuinely don't like Zeztz I mean besides the cast being misused the story as a whole is kinda wonky but also yeah I just automatically assume that whenever someone complains about the first half being "too slow" or go apeshit at the mention of Takahashi that it's just bait.
>>
>>24000187
I surprisingly like this color correct recolor, I guess it's because it's a hue that's rare in Rider
>>
>>24002539
I'm fine with people stating that they didn't like the show, and there are a lot of episodes that felt like a waste of time too. I mean Nox in general felt like a massive waste of time, and Dawn really did feel forced and unfleshed out. But despite all of its flaws and several weak plot points and antagonists, I still really enjoyed Zeztz and I never really felt bored watching it, ever. If I ever felt annoyance it was after the episode was over and I reflected on how certain characters were just shoved into the fridge or how Nox was still fucking useless from start to finish.

But the people who shit up the thread constantly with "I hate Takahashi", "I can't wait for the show to end" and "I hate Zeztz it's so shit" is the usual suspects. The one time I thought a series was SO bad I completely dropped it (Gotchard) I never came back to the threads during its tenure to constantly rag on how I couldn't wait for the show to end, or how it was shit; I just moved on, there was nothing to discuss anymore, I had quit the show and that was my choice.

That's what most people did, to this day Gotchard has the finale episode with the least amount of discussion/posts, Gotchard is just such an average season that it feels really non-essential to watch, like it's not horrible but it also has nothing going for it besides the insert songs

>>
Nice epilogue episode, I liked how they wrapped up the fight in the first half and spent the second half on the ending rather than cramming everything into 5 minutes like usual. Although it does seem like it drags a bit, honestly the last arc could have been trimmed by an episode or two.

>>
>>24002891

>>
>>24002888
Yeah since they didn't give Oblivion and Punish new forms them needing to fight them twice felt off, I also feel they should have moved the fight against Catastrophe after Sieg's redemption since it felt more emotionally climatic with how much he had been built up in the show. Another weird pacing bit on the second half was having the reveal that Zero is Baku's dad after Minami not being his sister by blood.
But like you said I appreciate them taking the finale episode slow like the Drive's one.

Kami is a great director, but I don't think he cares much for forms. He will put effort if the script asks for it, but he won't go out of his way to feature forms.

Look at Heisei Gen Final's final battle for example and compare with Sakamoto's in Heisei Generations.

Baku used the Recovery Capsem several times, but the form tied to it only appeared in 3 episodes.
>>
>>24002984

>>
>>24003071
Yeah he didn't really stop using capsems after Catastorm he just started using them exclusively out of suit which is really bizarre since the show introduces a way for the forms to remain powerful enough to still get used, yet out of all times Baku seems to remember this is in the fight against Oblivion which is obviously the one enemy where that wouldn't work.

Apparently 8 is supposed to tie in to the movie- which is dumb as hell because overseas people don't have access to vcinemas or summer movie content so yt and non pirate purists will just be confused about 8 or why Baku woke up in the real world at the end.

I feel like they always wanted to end the shot with him waking up and the last words being "good morning" because I'd totally do that as a writer. You wasted half the episode (barely) explaining that Baku is now trapped in the dream world running his own CODE agency and training a new generation of agent(s) only to add in a last minute F U that doesn't matter here's Baku waking up months later and if you want us to elaborate pay me to make more post show content
>>
>>24004440
I'm not sure if she's meant to tie in into the movie. I haven't watched it but from my understanding the movie doesn't explain much about her character and she's mostly there to save Nox. If that was the case with her then it's doubly weird since on an interview the show's producer said that they did not have overseas audiences in mind when making the summer movie because we can't watch it, which was the reasoning as to the movie having an overtly Japan rider, having the agents do a team up and Nox being friendlier.

>>24005594
They are yeah. Best Reiwa close to best season period. A 10/10 which I hate more knowing they don't like Gavv nor think it's on the upper echelon of Reiwa. No the only thing these people praise of this era is Yuya's seasons and the end of Saber. Not Saber as a whole just the ending arc of Saber

I personally developed a hate for Zeztz just because of all the love it has for being "the best Reiwa has to offer" I'm sick at the stomach at it. I wouldn't even recommend this as a first season to get into Kamen Rider.

Is that a wimpy thing to do? Fine, not like the people who love zeztz are adults either
>>
Utterly ridiculous that the problems people had with Gavv are the same I had with Zeztz.

>Weak villains
Yeah the lady was compelling but everyone else just didn't get the development they deserve or in Nox and Sieg's case just became heroes too suddenly. Fuck, Lakia had a whole episode and special where we learn his motivations and why he choose to go to Shouma's side. Nox kills one dude and we're supposed to forget he merced 5 and 6 even if it is in a premonition. And don't get me started on Freddy Krueger Mr. Tachibana over there. I think the villains had a better average than zeztz' that is to say I'd rather be "mid" than nothing. Suga was killed off "early" (and off screen?) but he was never the climax boss anyway just someone relating to Hanto's story. Bocca was at least introduced early enough to not be a last minute boss

>The ending felt rushed and weak
Yeah I agree bringing lango back was stupid and not that impactful but it was a more symbolic and sensical fight than whatever oblivion was trying to be.

>Side characters are weak
They said Sachika didn't do jack but I can say that for people like the Paranormal crew, Minami, Nem. They're just plot points used to further a plot. Sachika actively tried to help the trio and didn't just do it with the power of belief and friendship or whatever. She used her smarts and desire to help people. Dante wasn't around much but he's at least got chemistry with shouma, Lakia and Sachika. His death had more meaning than whatever zero tried to do. I think what they wanted is them to actually help throw hands but like, misora (no vernage doesn't count that's a plot device) and sawa didn't. Akiko didn't. Are you saying they're bad side characters too?

And the show is just too boring and not fun. Yeah the action is great but it's a kid's show I wanna laugh I want to cry I want to get attached to these people because they're people. Shout it at me a million times if you have to (1/2)

Go on tell me you want to come back to life, or you want to be a comedian or King or you want to "save the world". Maybe that's not "realistic" but I didn't come to a show about selling belts and figures to watch a realistic drama I came to have fun.

And they say Baku is a "good" protagonist when his reasoning for helping is because "yeah that's what an agent would do" and his unluckyness was quirky when they forgot about it and immediately dumped it when they revealed the reason behind it. Imagine if Shouma didn't talk about wanting to eat food or Sougo not wanting to be a King anymore. The moment Baku got Exdream is when he went from Nogami Ryotaro to Ukiyo Ace, and they'll say that's "development" earned.

There's a bunch more stuff i could say but I don't think people wanna listen to some dude yap about this all day so I'll just leave it at that. (2/2)

>Nox kills one dude and we're supposed to forget he merced 5 and 6 even if it is in a premonition.
Reminder that Baku utterly hated Zero for what he did in the premonition but immediately tried to befriend Nox despite him doing things in it that were just as bad or even worse like personally attempting to murder Baku, using Nem as a tool to further his plans, and sacrificing a bunch of children to get a super Nightmare that would help him kill the CODE Agents that tried to put him down for terrorizing the city.

Honestly, memes aside, 8/10 for the finale, 7.5/10 for the whole season.
Using the Virtual Production Stage as a wall of montages to illustrate the trio's speech about using your past pain to move forward was a real full circle moment, as well as the other callbacks to the 1st OP throughout the fight. Great to see the Rider trio's fighting styles bounce off each other, however brief, and Nem getting a few good shots in too. I wish Heart of Impact's debut was a little less rushed though. I get Baku's determination allowing him to create a capsem specifically to counter Oblivion, but it seems like he either should have used it earlier and not just a glorified finisher after Oblivion was figuratively at 1HP. That glorified finisher was pretty awesome though.

I didn't mind Baku's disappearance being abrupt given all the previous setup for it. The question clearly wasn't if he could return, but how long he'd be away sorting through CODE's unfinished business. And he was certainly busy in the interim. Good seeing Minami and Nem bond, as well as the complete Paranormal Affairs crew. 8's cat and mouse game as a real highlight, and I'm happy to see a return to spy games before the end.
Sora's cameo, with the awkward yet casual reversed senior/junior interaction was a blast. Really looking forward to see how that carries over to his characterization proper.

Sieg stuck in his own form of solitary confinement was surprisingly funny. Nem picking sites to see with The Lady was painfully and ironically heartwarming. Suppose getting injured while fused with Phantom left permanent damage on her dream body. The post-credits scene was just as heartwarming. I don't mind the series essentially having two endings, since it shows not only Baku's determination to right CODE's wrongs, but also shows just how much Baku's friends care for him.

All in all, I liked the show, flawed as it was. I think it's just the kind of experimental, plot/theme heavy season the franchise needs every once in a while. Did every aspect land? No. Were there characters who could have been handled better? Sure. But I appreciate what Takahashi was going for drawing on the spy theme to heavily imply some characters' characterization rather than have characters sit down and spell out their motives and backstory all at once. I also appreciate the dream theme and the underlying theme of redemption being a two-way street, much as it may piss some people off. I liked the main cast a lot, even if some didn't get as much spotlight as they could've used. The writing was frustrating at times, but I was never so disappointed that I wasn't entertained week-to-week, and sometimes that's all I ask for.

I'm actually a little sad we won't be getting a V-Cinema. I would've at least liked some sort of elaboration on Nox's backstory to show what we went through before and after being burned by CODE, but I suppose that would've been too much to get the necessary actors back together along with the other projects on the table.

>I didn't mind Baku's disappearance being abrupt given all the previous setup for it.
There was barely any, he and the others didn't even learn what was gonna happen to him until episode 48.

>The question clearly wasn't if he could return, but how long he'd be away sorting through CODE's unfinished business.
They wouldn't have done that scene with Minami breaking down after he left in the previous episode nor the scene from this episode where she says she wishes that she knew where he was if that hadn't been the case.

I don't think he was expecting to wake up all this time nor even had control over whether he could wake up or not, it seems like his friends eventually found a way to save him after a while given their words when they met up at the end. It doesn't seem to be the same case as Saber's ending here.

>But I appreciate what Takahashi was going for drawing on the spy theme to heavily imply some characters' characterization rather than have characters sit down and spell out their motives and backstory all at once
It was just plain bad writing, some of the shit they want you to infer without dialogue such as some characters' true motivations during certain moments are impossible or almost impossible to get because you have to take huge leaps in logic due to the severe lack of info and contradicting moments in the show (such as Nox apparently setting Baku up with Fujimi at the beginning of the story, even though he keeps telling them to stop getting involved with dream stuff), and then you also have important details about the characters that come out of nowhere because they didn't bother hinting them at all (such as Five listening to Zero's pleas to help the good guys because he took him under his wing after the death of his father, when these two characters had never been shown interacting before and there had been absolutely no mention of Five's father prior to this).

>I also appreciate the dream theme and the underlying theme of redemption being a two-way street, much as it may piss some people off.
It pisses people off when the redemptions are unearned and poorly written, such as Nox and Sieg's. Sieg is at least unhappy at the end, but Nox didn't deserve the ending he got when he was the cause of half the shit that went wrong in the story and he barely got called out for it. Compare their redemption arcs to how solid and justified Zero and The Lady's were, and it's like night and day.
>>
>>24007661
nta but I liked Sieg's redemption, his backstory is dumb but I felt he earned it.
Nox is the one who I feel I only liked as a character for 2 episodes, and what's weird is that with a character like Fujimi he has the perfect setup for a redemption, the issue is that after being continuously called out he just keeps being a dick for some reason and then no one calls him out for Zero's death for whatever reason even though Baku and Fujimi call him out for the rest.
>>
>>24000224
I dropped it on episode 6 I think so can't rate the finale, but the show itself seemed meandering and boring
It was the first kamen rider show I straight up dropped from me having seen all of mainline Heisei and Reiwa so far

>nta but I liked Sieg's redemption, his backstory is dumb but I felt he earned it.
Suddenly turning good and fighting the bad guys isn't "earning" it, and a fight that looks cool doesn't make the redemption earned either. The build-up to his redemption was marred by him doing two good things only to act like an evil asshole again for the rest of his scenes up until they decided to make him good for real.
>even though Baku and Fujimi call him out for the rest
They only call him out for trying to fight alone and later on for not taking responsibility when he was one of the few Riders left, and they're not even angry at him over that or anything, they're just trying to bring out whatever supposed goodness he has inside of him. Nobody's angry at him for being extremely evil in the premonition, nobody calls him out for forcing The Lady to sleep due to his stupid apathy, nobody calls him out for destroying potentially helpful CODE gear at the worst time possible, nobody calls him out for refusing to help the good guys restore Nem in the penultimate episode, nobody calls him out for being a flip-flopping faggot who's never consistent about anything.

This went downhill big time after the eradication of Code, I had high hopes for the 4 nightmares arc but then they killed of 2 of them very quickly and the rest became a Nem arc that just dragged on forever and literally put me to sleep (at leas that part is thematically consistent, am I rite??), and what a let down of a last boss, people shat on Lango last season because he had already jobbed before that point, but at least he looked cool and had a proper boss-like design, Oblivion just looks like a regular MOTW, a fairly goofy one at that.

It went downhill right after they introduced Exdream.

I don't know about normalfags, but I found the engrish and spy theme kinda cringe, if that was their idea of pandering to the west I hope they never do it again.
>>
>>24010170
From my understanding it was what they found cool from the west so they wanted to implement once they found that the concept of dreams wasn't enough of a setting to hard-carry a story.

Roughly 10 or so days left to see if they'll announce a V-Cinema in the Final Stage event.
>>
>>24020113
Isn't extremely unlikely by now due to the whole zukan deal, however it seems that something will take the V-Cinema slot that isn't either an epilogue movie or an anniversary movie.
My guess is either an anniversary spin-off, something Project R.E.D related or a crossover movie since we don't get winter crossovers anymore.
>>
>>24020117
Isn't the Kabuto V-Cinema taking a similar slot in November like Gavv did last year? My memory is genuinely vague on those details.

Huh, you're right. Gavv's came out in November. This is actually pretty different from the usual timing for the post-series V-Cinema though. Gotchard's in comparison was released by February which is the more standard date.

Shirakura recently confirmed Zeztz isn't getting a V-Cinext.
https://twitter.com/cron204/status/2101338333612048728
"Kamen Rider's V-CINEXT has no plans to continue production for the time being.
I believe that *Kabuto*, which will be released in Japan in November this year, will be the last one.
In the future, if works related to Kamen Rider epilogues are to be produced, I hope sufficient budget can be allocated to create them earnestly on the scale and in the form of a proper film."
