When is big too big in science fiction?
Not /m/.
>>24004077>not /m/>Exelio Variable Gravity Well from Diebuster is right there
>>24004696And Unicron. Surprised there's no Gunbuster or TTGL.
>>24004696Okay? Your stupid thread is still not /m/.
>>24004759Im not the OP schizoid
>>24004706There's things from GL in the bottom right corner. Buster Machine 3 is also under the Exelio, but is invisible in OP's ant sized version.
>>24004807They got Trantor wrong. Movie Unicron is bigger than Earth? Also, wtf is Orions Arm?
>>24004835>wtf is Orions Arm?it's what goes into Orions your mom
>>24004835>They got Trantor wrong. Movie Unicron is bigger than Earth? To answer those criticisms, someone would have to watch the Foundation series and Bayformers... 6? Neither seems worthwhile.>Also, wtf is Orions Arm?Big open hard SF setting that's been going for like twenty years. I've skimmed bits of it off and on; seems neat enough.
>>24004864>watch>Foundation>series REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Whatever the fuck the Germans are writing
>>24004864Trantor is supposed to be the size of Titan. The scale of those rings means the population would be a minimum of 5 miles tall.
>>24004867Yes, yes, the point is that the picture is clearly referencing that and not the books.
>>24004973Sad this is what waiting gets you
when you are bigger than the ttgl i guess
>>24005602I read somewhere that Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is larger than the observable universe. No idea how true that is.
>>24005856Neither of the TTGL were as big as they seems, as they're fighting in a arena made by the Antispirals (use their homeworld on top of their head for true size reference).
>>24005856>>24005907Nothing is larger than the Anime Clitoris.
I have to spoil a little bit of the setting, but in pic related, the protagonist is exploring a massive Dyson sphere(?) that seems to have been built around a black hole/something similarly extremely dense. Scale matters if you can justify it. In this case, a precursor civilization built it, so it makes sense to have it be an impossibly, ridiculously huge megastructure. The book is good too, not 10/10 change your life but solid.
>>24006048Rama book series is kind of like that. People happen on near moon size space colony absolutely deserted in space and they try to figure out the science by it. Lots of power heads are thinking they can use this to escape the solar system and many others think it's a trap. Very interesting.
>>24006068I only ever read Rendezvous with Rama, I did not know that there were more books. Thanks, anon.
>>24006248Don't thank him yet. They're fucking terrible. Some cool ideas, but the vast majority (which I assume are 100% Gentry Lee) are insufferable. I've only stopped reading one book series once I started, but this brought me damn close to adding another, and I really liked Rendezvous with Rama.
Never
>>24006048You should see the Novacula in Foundation S3
>>24006530How big again?
>>24006530That shit is ridiculously big, to the point it might as well just be one big, fancy galaxy.
>>24006614>>24006677100 times bigger than the Milky way (Diameter-wise)
>>24007938Largest in sci fi literature
>>24008247Surely that'd be the Cosmic AC.
>>24004925I don't think they make'em that big in the Rhodanverse. In that setting, a mere 8 kilometer is considered way big already. For comparison, a generic generation ship top out below two kilometers. The largest mobile space structure probably is Wanderer, which is a discworld created by and under the ownership of a quasi-divine entity. It's merely 8000 kilometers in diameter.
>>24008249?
>>24004073When is small too small in images with text that's meant to be read?
>>24008310https://users.ece.cmu.edu/~gamvrosi/thelastq.html
>>24008373Give me a few. Need to get the originals but can only post them in /hr/
>>24004835>Also, wtf is Orions Arm?https://lmgtfy.com/?q=orion%27s+arm
>>24008886Culture rip off
>>24004835Bayverse Unicron (TLK) is not bigger than Earth, because Bayverse Unicron IS Earth.I think Beeverse Unicron (ROTB) looked bigger than Earth, but I can't be fucked to go back and check.I think this chart forgot that TLK and ROTB are parts of two different universes and are not the same Unicron. Also, the design it shows is not Unicron's ROTB design. And while we're on the topic, G1 cartoon Unicron is smaller than Earth. Putting aside the fact that we have the production scale sheet, we know that cartoon Cybertron is significantly smaller than Earth from when it was brought into Earth's orbit, and Unicron's about the same size as Cybertron.
>>24012335G1 Marvel Comics Unicron, meanwhile, is larger than Earth. Marvel Cybertron is the size of Saturn.
>>24012336What's the in-universe reason for Unicron having a humanoid mode? I can't think of a single situation where he'd need to switch out of planet mode. It's not like he needs to run around in tight spaces or fight hand to hand
>>24012411No reason was ever given for cartoon Unicron. He was created by a crazy space monkey scientist to destroy everything. I guess it's easier to destroy some things with hands. Maybe he could use robot mode to break planets larger than him apart into smaller pieces to munch on in planet mode.Marvel Unicron, along with Primus, were humanoid gods that battled each other. Primus tricked Unicron into both being trapped in asteroids. Primus created humanoid life upon himself, while Unicron created a new humanoid form FOR himself.
>>24012432Does Primus wander the universe saying his name is Mudd?
>>24004807A craftworld only being ~2000km long is the most shocking thing in this image
>>24017194Kill yourself negrobumper.
>>24017194Well, there's barely any Eldar at all
>>24006048is this a mecha book?
>>24006048There are other people who've read this?I was gifted this book back in 2019 from a friend and I finished it within the week. At the time I loved it but I couldn't find anyone talking about it online so I just had to schizophrenically rant to friends about it.But now I see this the day after I pick it back up?If we're talking scale then the Horizon is pretty large. I can't recall if it was given exact dimensions but given the fact that the protagonists have to take trains to get around is fairly telling, hell, in the opening bits it's described how one of the hangers inside the Horizon is big enough for clouds to form near the ceiling.Couldn't find the illustration in the back online so have a pic from my shitty phone.
>>24025763Not supposed to be sideways. . .Fuck my stupid chud life
>>24006248>I did not know that there were more books.Do you like nun rape? Because you're going to get nun rape eventually if you bother to read more than the first two or three books.
