I watched the movie in MX4D in Japan when it was airing. It was the single most amazing thing in that category I've ever experienced. I watched the movie and all the Finale episodes of GuP in MX4D too and they didn't come close, and it was even better than all the rides at USJ and Disneyland.

The seats vibrated to make you feel like you're sitting in a plane with the engine going, and the show uses first person shows which synced up perfectly with the moving seats.

It was fucking amazing.

Most people enjoy the funnel scenes though and those are some of the few that do that.

See also a lot of modern shounen action with very fast spinning camera that barely tracks the characters.

If anything we don't get it more because it'd be harder to animate full robots with free movement like that rather than just space ships/funnels.

It's a bizarre compilation cut of the series which drops a bunch of important plot scenes and replaces them with more plane action, which is good if you're into the plane action but it's unwatchable without series knowledge because a bunch of side characters from earlier on get their stuff completely cut and then they still show up like they're familiar regulars in the final battle
