Was there a cancellation announcement? Or news of ANY kind? I've lost track of how long it's been since our last update

Reboot usually drops around 8 posts per year so it is not that frequent to begin with. It will return at the end of the year since he promised the 2026 AOZ content.

Close enough to be relevant here I think.
The new Enhanced ZZ figure is looking really good.
I like how the backpack halves have a degree of movement here, it's cool to imagine that as part of the upgrade set, turning it from basically just a massive brick and closer to S Gundam's and Zeta's format.
Also it's similar to G-Defenser because of the missiles which is cool.
>>
>>24013654
Looks cool, though I have to wonder what the point is since I'm pretty sure those missiles have Macross-level turning abilities and can already pretty much go anywhere despite firing vertically (or e en backwards). Can the beam rifle point forward and fire while mounted on the backpack? And how does the pilot in the rifle's cockpit feel about this?
>>
>>24013680
>have to wonder what the point is
idk, probably mostly to look cool plus firing from this angle could still be better even if they have some degree of targeting anyway. Besides the missiles are just one part, there's the big ol' thrusters in the back so the backpack now functions like binders.
And keep in mind the beam rifle cockpit isn't meant to be used in regular operations, it's for independent Core Top deployment and maintenance. It's a bit strange and impractical in most situations but that's a prototype for ya, there's some explanations that the beam rifle was a reworked space fighter design or that the Core Top was meant to have a G-Bull like form as well.
>>
>>24013680
>Looks cool, though I have to wonder what the point is since I'm pretty sure those missiles have Macross-level turning abilities
It's less that it's required to make the missiles functional since they were already used at melee range back in the show, but now this flexible backpack mount brings it in line with how other advanced MS had movable backpacks like the Gundam Mark V and others.
>>
File: cgm178_51.jpg (95 KB, 856x650)
95 KB JPG
>>24013992
And the Mark V's backpack for comparison, it can swivel the entire backpack half to fire the beam sabergun under the arm or just have greater freedom of motion to point the backpack thrusters
>>
>>24014063
nta but thinking about it, uh... how does that swiveling work when there's an arm in the way...?
>>
File: Untitled.png (1.19 MB, 1464x650)
1.19 MB PNG
>>24014065
the saber mounting is on a ball joint so if the Mark V lifts its arms, the beam saber can flip to the side and not collide with the arms, and the backpack half is also mounted on a little pivoting arm that allows it to lower just enough for the gimmick to work. Or I guess it could do a 270 degree rotation the other way so the arms don't need to make way for the beam sabers coming near

that said, it wouldn't be the first or last MS to have trouble with its equipment colliding with parts of its body
>>
>>24014065
it just swings clockwise retardbro
>>
>>24014087

We all know what the TR plan was about, mass producing smaller and more economical modular MS that could take on new configurations to fit specific situations. Sadly it failed, and at that point in time UC tech started trending in the opposite direction, making bigger and fancier super robots instead. But what if the TR plan was restarted in late UC? What would a miniaturized MS version of the Woundwort look like? Would there be new tech configs like a Kehaar with Minovsky Flight or a VSBR Hazen'thley II? I think we could use the F90 project as a base and come up with a pretty interesting "Late TR plan".
>>
>>24017467
I wouldn't call TR units as small, they have standard height. The late UC era was simply a reflection of real world technology: A glock is stronger than a big and clunky bow, computers keep getting slimmer and faster, soldiers nolonger need to wear big bulky steel armor to get their job done. Meanwhile TR project was like a 19th century approach at technology, while almost none of the old stuff are relevant anymore, they shown humanity the potential for better ( and more lethal ) technology for the future. Yes the computer that sang Daisy Daisy never went anywhere and we just stick with regular computer for awhile and decades later we had text to speech and now AI generated speech.

>>24017534
Woundwort is definitely smaller than most contemporary MS, unless you go by the borked HG proportions. And I'd argue most of the tech used in the TR machines was either modern or better compared to other MS of the time. They had INCOMs and even funnels when the feds wouldn't even really start to use INCOMs until the MkV post-war, they had MS-portable I-field generators, they had complex transformation systems.

Now that I think about it, what's the justification for all the transformations pre-Gryps? Weren't transforming MS supposed ot be unusable until Kamille figured out movable frame?
>>
>>24017467
strictly speaking that's not the goal of TR Plan. The entire project (in the Titans, that is) was started with the goal of creating Inle above all else with everything that entails.
It's TR-6 specifically that introduces the wide-range compatibility. The original plan with TR-S didn't have the Universal Replacement System.
>>24017545
None of those are unique to the TR Plan. Mk-V development began under the Titans and it wasn't the first INCOM-equipped machine either. Psycho Mk-II has unwired bits. Ex-S has a chest I-Field as does FA Hyaku Shiki Kai.
Kamille also had zero involvement in the invention of transforming machines, Asshimar was made years earlier, Gaplant and Psycho Gundam were both deployed before Zeta too. Nevermind Messala too.
What Kamille did was revise the Zeta in particular and make that a (very) successful design.
>>
>>24017545
>Woundwort is definitely smaller than most contemporary MS, unless you go by the borked HG proportions.
Fujioka already retconned that initial scaling and said the HG scaling is correct. Woundwort is actually around Hazel Custom's height.
>>
>>24017165

It is the proportion, not really the size. Woundwort is actually quite big according to the HG while Hazel is a short king. TR5 is still the biggest one though.
>>
>>24018044
Hazel is from the stumpier days so annoyingly enough it's also not really a perfect comparison, but even so whole Woundy is taller pretty much every part besides the thighs and head is smaller and significantly so. Even the head is larger due to the headdress, the face itself is a little bit smaller

The lore said the ReZEL commander type's backpack allowed for atmospheric flight, but we've never seen it once even in artwork (in-colony doesn't count). Hell, it might actually make some sense for them to show up in Hathaway since it's been just 9 years. I mean, they would just be glorified fighters with beams, but it'd be cool to see them act as SFS for other suits.

If anything we're more likely to see, and may Allah forgive me for uttering this word, some Ankshas. This entire conflict is basically Anaheim tryong to sell of their entire stock of Base Jabbers and Base Jabber analogues, so the Jegan in a Base Jabber fursuit would fit right in. But I think that'd be a massive waste of potential, this id a perfect opportunity to develop a new member of the Plus family. Delta Plus variant slots are right there, so a C1 would be amazing. Fuck it, make a Delta Plus hummingbird. Or, if yoi really want to rape the tech tree for the sake of sales, make some kind of "Penelope Plus", essentially a GMfied version of the Minovsky flight system. Imagine a Zeta Plus with trapezoidal wings and the yellow "minovsky vents" on them, with some of penelope's monoeye imagery added onto the shield. My dick...

I can see the Zeta Plus being used by the time of F91.

The Federation is still using Jegans so presumably there's still a niche a high performance Wave Rider MS can still fulfill.
>>
>>24018761
ReZELs were still in use circa UC 0116, partly because plans for a miniaturized successor model fell through so you'd think the logic would hold but personally I wouldn't count on that beyond just old garrison units that haven't been mothballed.
ReZEL is much more compatible with Jegans and therefore later models that follow it like Heavygun so it's much easier to incorporate into supply systems.
And furthermore it also functions as a SFS for other units which is one of its main selling points. Meanwhile Zeta Plus is pretty much exclusively a solo flier I believe, or at least not really optimized for the role.
>>
>>24018771
I was under the impression the Zeta Plus had better specs than the ReZEL. As far as we can tell from Unicorn it's used to guard VIPs and presumably other high priority missions. And no another MS cannot hitch a ride on a Zeta Plus.

There is the atmospheric flight capability to take into consideration which I'm pretty sure the ReZEL lacks. The Zeta Plus only competition would be... the Anksha *shudders*

>I was under the impression the Zeta Plus had better specs than the ReZEL
Sorta depends. The Zeta Plus A1 and C1 have a slight advantage in straight line acceleration due to higher thrust than the ReZEL, but the ReZEL has newer avionics, stronger reactor, and potentially better agility due to lighter weight.

>As far as we can tell from Unicorn it's used to guard VIPs and presumably other high priority missions.
And the flagship General Revil was stocked with ReZELs but no Zeta Pluses.

>There is the atmospheric flight capability to take into consideration which I'm pretty sure the ReZEL lacks.
Lore says the ReZEL has modular backpack, the regular models get the common "box" backpack which is fine for space but the commander models get the winged backpack that supposedly works in-atmo.

Counter argument: Amuro piloted a Zeta Plus therefore it has longer legacy because Amuro is popular to the point they invent shit for him to pilot like the Jeda. Ergo the Zeta Plus must still be in use by F91 because his name makes banks for Bandai.

Done.
>>
>>24018775
I'd say they're probably pretty similar, but I'll give an edge to ReZEL regardless because it's easier to use and maintain which is far more valuable than some specs.
Besides, even the one case we have for later ReZEL use was in a specialized, non-standard military unit, all the regular forces we see are just using non-variable suits.
At the end of the day it comes down to the reasoning that regular mobile suit + optionally SFS is a better option because what it loses in response speed and operational flexibility it makes up for with cost effectiveness or just simply low cost.
>>24018869
>Delta Plus
Delta Plus is in a kinda fucked up situation because it's ostensibly still in a prototyping stage for military use in UC 0096... which began in UC 0090. Delta Plus was a rework of the failed Delta Gundam with new technology 10 years later to make it transformable and went into very limited production, according to the master grade model booklet. Same "Plus" naming as the production Zeta models for air and space use. Then Anaheim took one of the Delta Plus units and customized it back into a one-of-a-kind special snowflake to result in the Gundam Delta Kai, which might be the prototype you're thinking of.

He charges the FAZZs thinking he'll just evade the missile barrage and promptly fails miserably because he's not built as different as he thought. The only reason he then beats them is because they figured that was it and just started to leave.

And now we also have the Full Armor form with movable booster units on the legs too. Also very cool, I like the interpretation of giving them a great range of movement rather than just rather crude thruster units bolted onto the legs.

FAZZ's cannon isn't even good for ZZ. Can't wield the beam saber, compromises one missile pod for a literall one trick pony that needs long ass time to recharge, compromises the handcannon because how to aim when that big gun is dangling on his shoulder? It is a good fit for FAZZ because the dummy mobile suit can't actually fight without it.

I wonder why they never revisited the concept of skirt guns? Only the Sentinel designs get them despite being the ideal unobtrusive weapon when you want to make a "holy fuck it has a lot of guns" version of a gundam

V2A says bonjour
also by Katoki and not long after Sentinel, I guess he was really into them at the time
that said they are rather rare though we have iconic cases outside of UC like Freedom. I guess a big factor here is how if they're small they can feel lame and if they're large they can easily get in the way, especially for model kits.
By and large it's just simpler to design weapons on the backpack or such, if you put weapons on the skirts it's gonna be something unobstructive like missiles or grenades.
And nowadays you more often have cases of designs minimizing or outright not having skirt armor like that.

Any engage knowers that can give ma QRD on this character? She looks like a Puru and appears to get progressively more deranged as time goes on
>>
>>24023614
Long story short literally just a girl that keeps getting fucked over by life at every opportunity and somehow ends up on the losing side of every conflict when all she wants to do is protect people she cares about. Most of the time the only thing she manages to achieve is barely survive while everyone else dies.
But in the end she may or may not end up living with a happy found family including two surviving Purus so it's all worth it.

She changes her hair a bunch, hair dye also exists in UC. In fact, I'm surprised we never got Purus with dyed hair since it's an easy way to tell clones apart. Then again most Purus aren't really characters
>>
>>24023898
>She changes her hair a bunch, hair dye also exists in UC
there are more cyber newtypes in UC than just purus. besides peche's story begins in 0079, why would she be a puru created in 0088? her abilities are also weak as fuck so she doesn't seem related to purus in both looks and powers

>In fact, I'm surprised we never got Purus with dyed hair since it's an easy way to tell clones apart.
>Then again most Purus aren't really characters
basically yeah, it was never intended for them to have individuality like that aside from puru two since two was deployed the earliest so she had the most experience among her clone sisters and was given extra treatment by glemmy

What's the deal with the MkIII and all the "Halpuley" variants? Is there canon one and the others got retconned? Or are they all canon? Does the MkIII line end with them or did it eventually evolve into another MS down the line?

You've got three separate lines because different groups (namely Anaheim, Titans and Federation) took a look at Gundam Mk-II data and had their own spin on how to further develop the technology.
Anaheim's Mk-III is the most famous one and typically the one people refer to, to the point the other ones largely faded out into the background. Though they're not outright obscure and are referenced in one way or another on occassion.
Anaheim's MSF-007 refines the movable frame and reaches very high performance and further expansion capacity. The design team was seconded to Augusta lab and incorporated its data into Gundam Mk-IV and by extension Mk-V and its successors. There might have been as many as eight units built or at least planned as we know of a red Unit 8 that was intended for Char before getting damaged.
Federation's RX-166 nicknamed "Eagley" was developed at the Kilimanjaro Base and is an enhanced version of the Mk-II but not much else is known besides that.
Titans' RX-272 was depending on the source either already in planning before Mk-IIs were stolen or conceived as a counter to Zeta Gundam. It may or may not incorporate some Gaplant juice in it. In AoZ contest the Gaplant TR-5 Hrairoo has head features inspired by it. Three units with different equipment types were planned and/or built - "Fria", "Halpuley" and "Dureye". Out of them we only know how Halpuley looked like. It recently got a lot of buzz because Silver Phantom Gravure manga features the "Arvray", a fusion of the Anaheim Mk-III with Halpuley tech.
IRL it was specifically designed to give the Halpuley some spotlight after all these years.
Also canon is a spook and you shouldn't care, let alone worry about it.

The comparison is between Zeta and Gaplant (with a side dish of Halpuley) as high performance transformable mobile weapons and the next step in the arms race. Namely, a high powered variable mobile suit with separation and combination functions for greater versatility. For AEUG that's the ZZ, for Titans that's the Haze'n-thley.
You could say this is... Advance of Zeta.

Picture somewhat related, with the unused drafts for Evolve's Red Zeta III showcasing a separation feature. Plus a bunch of cool guns and such.

Bawoo is more similar to ZZ (it has a bunch of Z&ZZ juice) but it's not relevant for a Gryps Conflict comparison.
>>
>>24026208
I think the Gundam MkIII Halpuley and the Gaplant and Zeta represent some of the first transforming MS where they were designed for atmospheric use and the three of them end up adopting wedge-shaped lifting bodies instead of relying on wings.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifting_body?useskin=vector

The line under the Zeta seems to say the Zeta design continued development via the Sigma and ZZ Gundams where they started incorporating modular bodies that can separate and recombine.
