She's like a deconstruction of the plugsuitgirl archetype the uninitiated see Asuka and Rei as. She's meant to be shallow to the core upon introduction, have a more prominent role where she saves the main character in her second act, and complete with hidden lore drops that come out of fucking nowhere in the final. What makes her a deconstruction is the fact that she actually wins in the end.
