This thread is reminding me of one of the Sentinel mechs, the Z'odi-ack and how apparently its fuel was right next to where the huge beam fired, which wasn't exactly the best design choice.

>>24018210yes that is true of scattering beam cannons, but I don't think the guns on the shields are the scattering type. they do fire a spread of beams but it seems to be mainly because there are multiple emitter barrels firing at the same time rather than one emitter firing a shotgun spreadthe shield beams do seem to have a lot of.. girth, though I dunno if it's because it's basically an ultra-short barrel or it's just firing a lot of particles like the ZZ head cannon
