The actual question is why are there exposed fuel tanks in the SHINS of all places? What kind of engineer would put a tank in there, now the fuel not only has to deal with gravity, you have to design a system that has to go backwards into the engine through multiple joints subject to the worst kind of mechanical stress, what fucking moron does this?
>>24017648Those fuel tanks are only in the space versions which operate in zero G.
>>24017649It's still retarded because the movement range of those legs makes it really easy for the fuel tanks to bump into each others. Not to mention that if anything happens to your legs the entire thing is offline, it's intensely fucking stupid
>this thread again
>>24017652It's even better when you realize the tanks ARE the legs. Seriously, look at how the knees connect to them. The lower leg is just tank with feet slapped on.
This always looked like a space worker mech they just slapped some weapons on, to me. I dunno of thats the lore.
>>24017657Yeah I've build the kit, the upper calf connects to the fuel tank, and the fuel tank connects to the ankle.
>>24017657Oh god I did not notice that.I thought the tanks were sitting in some sort of compartment that held the tanks in place but no, they're actually the whole fucking shins altogether.
>>24017610Why don't the other mobile suits have fuel tanks?
>>24017704Because they're all internalized.
>>24017610>exposed fuel tankswhy
>>24017610EXPLODING KNEE UPPER!!!!!!!!
>>24017610I used to be a Mobile Suit like you. Until I took a GN particle to the knee.
>>24017610The worst part is they can attach the fuel pack in a better way. Guess ruschina can't into space.
>>24017610HRL was the soviet-ish groupthey're basically bound by design law to come up with solutions that are big and pants-on-head retarded
>>24018025>it's a tailwhy
>>24018034But their cockpit/headset solution is actually the smartest. Less screen/bezel/maintenance, and arguably better head/sensor/turn sync speed.
>>24018035More ambac or whatever 00's equivalent is called. It's honestly not a bad way to do it.
>legs built around tanks was literally the coolest thing at the time>this board is too gay to even like mecha anymore
>>24018058>stray vulcan tickles your leg>the whole thing fucking explodesI like the other Tierens but the space type is dumb.
>putting missiles on where you want the enemy to hitwhy
>>24018069Shields are useless by that point in UC anyway, might as well use them as weapon platforms.
>>24017610>rampaging moron that crashes buildings, and thus potential damaging debris, on top of himself regularly>constantly, sometimes uncontrollably, shoots electricity everywhere>has a gun that shoots chemicals that degrades metal>give him the job of fuel tank mule
>>24018063why would water explode>>24018069>>24018072that's totally up to the plot armor. we've seen doga shields fail and the attached rockets explode, but jegan shields will tank beam cannonssurprisingly a lot of the neo zeon shields that literally have holes facing forward for beam cannon emitters (hamma hamma and I think bawoo?) never seem to get damaged by being hit in the holes
>>24017648>The actual question is why are there exposed fuel tanks in the SHINS of all places?Because putting them next to the actual thrusters isn't smart.
>>24018199Don't most scattering beam cannons direct the fire with some sort of i-field or something? If anything beam cannon ports would be more durable.
This thread is reminding me of one of the Sentinel mechs, the Z'odi-ack and how apparently its fuel was right next to where the huge beam fired, which wasn't exactly the best design choice.
>>24018199
>>24018210yes that is true of scattering beam cannons, but I don't think the guns on the shields are the scattering type. they do fire a spread of beams but it seems to be mainly because there are multiple emitter barrels firing at the same time rather than one emitter firing a shotgun spreadthe shield beams do seem to have a lot of.. girth, though I dunno if it's because it's basically an ultra-short barrel or it's just firing a lot of particles like the ZZ head cannon
>>24018228and the rozen's shield which was made to be similar
>>24018228I mean you can see the beams sweep in that webm, probably using an i-field to direct it. Probably not one strong(large?) enough to actually be worth much defensively(outside of maybe shots directly to the emitter) but still there.>>24018230The rozen goes a step further and just has an out and out i-field in it's shield similar to the unicorn.
>>24017610>can take them off himself and replace theminsane design philosophy Imagine never having to get out of your car to gas it up
>>24018278>take his entire lower leg offAnon... Imagine having to take the wheels off your car to refuel it.
>>24018025it's odd the taozi only needs one fuel tank while the grunt version has two.>>24018035why? it's honesty a great placement since it's hidden behind the main body and it's easily detachable.
>>24018199>waterwhat
The tanks are full of water you dumb fucks
>>24018633>fire at the tank>scalding hot water seeps into the cockpit and fries the pilotwhat now faggot
>>24018639>space
>>24018025>The worst part is they can attach the fuel pack in a better way. Guess ruschina can't into space. That's a different model entirely, space type Tierens are a stopgap modification to fill a role HRL just simply didn't have using the ground ones as a base
>>24018633Should have fetched some fuel instead of crammy water
>>24018658but then you niggers wouldn't shut the fuck up about the fuel explodingnot like having the tanks on the inside prevents them from getting shot up anyway
>>24018707Tourist
>>24017652Easy, just have the OS in the cockpit auto-stop any movements that result in collision.>>24018317Maybe Taozi uses better fuel.
>>24018750Still water
>>24018658Fuel and oxidizer is electrolysed from the water.
>>24018658What if we replace the tanks with pails?
>>24017610It's a cheap filler suit for cannon fodder, if you go look up the stupid shit soldiers were forced to use IRL you'll die from high blood pressure.
>>24017610Faulty russian engineering.
