For the mot part that's true, in MSG things are pretty post racial with the federation having people with hispanic, European and Asian names and Zeon being taking some cues from the axis powers without any direct connection. I remember mentions of some setting material staying the federation higher ups were white supremacists who wanted to move minorities to the colonies but I can't find it in the archive and if it exists it didn't make its way into MSG proper.
In Zeta race is even less relevant unless you want to go out on a limb and say spacenoids were a race allegory, which isn't something they slot nearly into.
Race does play a minor part in AS with that African widow and the blue team and their people's interactions with Zeon and the federation.
Throughout tomino's run mysterious ethnic women having spiritual powers is a recurring element, even including Quess who has an exotic Sanskrit name. Though that might be less of a statement and more of tomino's equivalent to a the magical negro with Voodoo/Christianity powers

I'm watching the movie dub with British Bright RIGHT NOW and I can't stand his voice even though it seems pretty well liked as far as this dub goes. He just sounds so old and feeble and weak, it throws me off every time I hear it. I don't know if the actor was actually old

I thought I'd want to clown on Sayla's janky accent more, but I think the actress was actually French Canadian and it almost sounds like she's trying to hide her real accent even if mostly not really succeeding. Like it makes me feel kind of bad in a way because I feel like she was legit trying to do an American accent maybe, and sometimes she actually manages for a line or so and it sounds decent enough. Or maybe it really is a fake accent and was just an extremely weird acting choice.
