anyone else who loves mecha representation in VN's?
>>24036972VNs are for moeshitters.Die, moefaggot.
>>24036972Outside of SRW?I liked Demonbane but there's not much outside of that that anyone cares about. I've never seen a big fan of Baldr VNs and I don't feel any desire to read them for myselfApart from that, I guess Yuna counts? I played the first one, but it was so dated I lost any will to keep up with the series even though it had its charm and hits a lot of very specific niches that doubtless only I care about. If it had only been made 10 years later, it would have been a GOAT story, but alas, the 90s method of presenting a silly anime story as an annoying CYOA game where you brute force every option dragged it downSakura Wars and Galaxy Angel still hold up though, even if their gameplay is still just as piss easy as SRW. They just hit different than modern at action harems in a way I can't place my finger on...Oh and speaking of, there's Muv Luv. Muv Luv was never good.
>>24036972I love Demonbane, probably my favorite /m/ work.
>>24036998fuck you>>24037002muv luv is great actually
>>24037023what part of Muv Luv is great?Certainly not the mecha, no one gives a shit about those, never seen one in a cool webm or even a 3x3 posted by other anons? The girls? All Obnoxious stereotypical cliches even for the time and none of Alternative's character development made me like them moreIt did however make me like Takeru much less. He was so insufferable and angsty I dropped the VN.The villains? PfftThe plot? I've never had my time wasted with so much technobabbleWhat does that even leave? The artwork? Eh, I've seen better. The music? JAM Project is an accomplishment, I guess, but I remember the OSTs of fucking Alicesoft games more otherwise
fucking baldr bullet my nigger
>>24037029its an amazing heart touching story about love, war, sacrifice, duty, etc. the mechs in muv luv are awesome. the girls are also all interesting and fleshed out with their own routes
>>24037118Only one of these statements is even remotely correct
Wasn't there a Demonbane remake or something?
>>24039359Closest thing to that is the 2019 PC port of the PS2 release that has some touch-ups here and there
>>24037029>All Obnoxious stereotypical cliches even for the time and none of Alternative's character development made me like them moreOoooh you're one of those people that skipped the other two games because you only care about the mecha and now you're pretending the mecha was shit
>>24041221He's not wrong though bbqh
>>24041223he is thougheverlabeit
muv-luv is great, how could you hate something with a jam project OP, hot girls, and god-tier mecha designs? the story is amazing, yes the characters are all archetypes but they're well-developed and if you actually follow them from extra into alt you find yourself caring for them which makes the ending sting more, also i genuinely have ptsd from chomp then going into the return to extra arc. alt might be the only mecha thing i've watched/read that really puts you into the psychology of a soldier and gives you a look into ptsd and how it works. no fuckin shit ass gundam show even comes close. unlimited does a magnificent job of setting the scene for how dangerous, horrible, and bleak the situation is without even showing you a single BETA outside of a silhouette. even extra is fun, a step above generic rom-com haremshit, but sets up so much foreshadowing that re-reading the series is actually worthwhile. pic unrelated, muramasa is better written but i love muv-luv more. but talk about muramasa too, it's so fucking good.
>glazing mud butt of all thingslollmao even
>>24041249you are just objectively wrong if you think the robots look like shit.
>>24041291But you see, anon, it hasn't shown up in anyone's 3x3s or webms so it must be shit design, we can think of no other possible explanation for why a mech from a 23 year old story in an obscure medium whose animation consists of moving sprites around on the screen isn't more popular on the cartoon toy board whose inhabitants mostly think the "V" in "VN" stands for "virtual." Popular = good, btw.
>>24041291Nah, those are fine and designed by based Niθ
Does Cold Steel have any good mechs?
Call me a faggot tourist normie ,but been playing baldr sky and it makes me giggly like a schoolgirlShould have played this way way earlier but now is better than never
>>24041728It's a cool game, really neat setting, good gameplay, good characters. Have fun.
>>24041221No I actually played the other games first and I thought they were better than Alternative. Not because they were good, but because they lacked some of Alternative's annoying bullshit. >>24041571And here you are pretending that Muv Luv hasn't had a 24/7 general on this board for 15 fucking years and isn't probably the third most popular VN apart from Fate and Steins:GateIf anyone gave a shit about the mecha, they've had ample reason to express that. But they're bland, uninspired grunt designs with zero notable features. They wouldn't look out of place in something as inspid as Gen:LOCK
>>24045264>Two games that had very successful anime adaptations>One of these failed to expand and is stuck making remakes every 5 yearsyou might be 80 iq bro>It's bland because I say it is
>>24037002If you thought the first Yuna was dated it's a good thing you didn't keep at it, 3 might be the slowest, most boring SRPG I ever played.
>>24045264>And here you are pretending that Muv Luv hasn't had a 24/7 general on this board for 15 fucking yearsAnd the last couple of years have been nothing but a sad, terminal decline and it's probably the saddest general on the board now. There hasn't been anything new for over a decade now since Schwarzesmarken bombed to oblivion, and the new owners are busy converting Muv Luv into a gooner Gacha series with nothing of the original in it. Muv Luv's day is long past.
