What are your overall thoughts on Beatbreak's new Digimon and series?
>>24037272They started off looking nice but then they all became boring and generic.
>>24030371Heavily on the rushed side. The last episode was fun tho so its fine to give it a pass. 6/10BB as a series suffers a lot from fillers. Story pacing and character growth being the primary victims. 5.5/10>>24037272Peaked at ultimate

>>24037331>BB as a series suffers a lot from fillers. What fillers?
They dropped the soundtrack on Youtube a few days ago.https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mSPyUVRaXIpeUsX_OBOmp3xh7sZVsAw18&si=VKwS6x_fCGl8my7QDoesn't seem to have the vocal version of Resonance that played when Pristimon and Chiropmon went Mega. It might be in there somewhere since the track that plays when Gekkomon comes back from the dead is at number 46 instead of at the end.>>24037272Rookie trio are great and Armalizardmon is peak. Rest are more miss than hit.
>>24037519Oh never mind. It was track 70 Tomorrow. The start didn't sound like a reprise so I thought it was one of the inserts.
Overall, I thought Beatbreak was pretty good. It wasn't really more than what it was, and the third cour could have gone much better despite containing one of the best episodes in the series. The final cour was really good. The final episode, while covering a lot of ground, didn't feel absurd in terms of pacing. There are lingering questions that I think were intentionally left unanswered, not because they want you thinking about them, but because they specifically don't want you to think about it.Tomorou's and Asuka's parents have been gone for five years. They are barely more than an addendum, and it was the same when they were first brought up. They're shown in the crowd watching Asuka's concert and cheering for him. The gravity of them being gone for 5 years when they had two dependant children shouldn't be understated, but that's not the kind of story Beatbreak is about. It's about find a family, and actual biological family gets in the way of that. Where does Tomorou live now? Is he still at Glowing Dawn's headquarters, separate from Asuka and his parents? Kyou seems to be at Nirinsou full time now, so is it just Tomorou, Reina, and Makoto?Beatbreak has a world that makes you so curious to understand more, but at the same time it leaves you wondering if there's really much more written for it. It's not quite like Adventure and 02 where a large amount of background information shapes the story. Beatbreak has a double-edged sword in its setting being in 2050; it can handwave certain things with "It's the future" and make you think there's this vast history that explains things, but that would also require having to come up with said vast history. Beatbreak itself feels much like the modern day and it's sometimes easy to forget its setting.
>>24037835>There are lingering questions that I think were intentionally left unanswered, not because they want you thinking about them, but because they specifically don't want you to think about itThose are called plot holes.
>>24037837Where Tomorou lives at the end isn't a plot hole, it's just a loose end. A plot hole is a logical gap or inconsistency inside a narrative that can't be filled with anything that would get it to the next step of the narrative without coming off as extremely contrived, or just being borderline impossible.Beatbreak certainly had its deus ex machina moments. Volvemon is a deus ex machina that we only accept because of prior Digimon media like Our War Game. SeitenGokuwmon is a deus ex machina that we only accept because we know Saiyu Warriors. We have stuff like>Gekkomon eats food>Gekkomon develops his own e-Pulse in the final few episodes>Digimon can now produce their own e-Pulse, but now eat foodNow why did Gekkomon eat food from the start? Why did he only develop e-Pulse now? Why was Atratusmon able to connect to every Sapotama? We had Albatusmon connected to every Sapotama through Wong at Apraxas, and through Sanzomon in Kintoun. If Sanzomon was the avatar of the Mother Sapotama, I can understand instinctually predicting Albatusmon and Atratusmon before they're even a thing. I can understand them being similar because their Saponushi are brothers. But with their grandfather being the creator of Sapotama, it leaves you wondering why the grandsons have such absurd potential. You can very easily imagine connective tissue that could explain things, but there's a lot of squinting with what we have.
>>24037835>It's about find[ing] a family, and actual biological family gets in the way of that. It's pretty interesting how relatively little the biological families matter to the Beatbreak story given the theme of family throughout it. Tomoro and Makoto are the only ones from Glowing Dawn who have significant family interaction. I really wish there had been an episode where Reina encountered her biological family (or a former Cleaner Gang) and told them to get lost because she has people who don't mind the way she is.>Where does Tomorou live now? Is he still at Glowing Dawn's headquarters, separate from Asuka and his parents? Kyou seems to be at Nirinsou full time now, so is it just Tomorou, Reina, and Makoto? That not being answered in the slightest is really fucking strange. I'm trying to recall the last time the containers are even shown: was it episode 43? Surely there could have been a scene in that epilogue sequence to show what happened to the HQ. It feels ridiculous they would stay in those containers given they no longer need to be outcasts living on a broken highway. I'm going to theorise they live at Nirinso alongside Kyo, it's the only way that makes sense.>>24037843>But with their grandfather being the creator of Sapotama, it leaves you wondering why the grandsons have such absurd potential. You can very easily imagine connective tissue that could explain things, but there's a lot of squinting with what we have.We should have had Kano Island from Tasuku's perspective to explain that. I know we get Klay mentioning Souji has a unique e-Pulse, but the significance of the Tenmas' e-Pulse - especially in light of the final episode - has to be far more than that. If Gekkomon eating is such an oddity that it's mentioned, why was the freakiness never explored further?I loved Beatbreak, but given what's been discussed here, there's a lot of questions that have been left unanswered that really shouldn't have been.
>>24037868Exactly. It's so easy to come up with.>Tasuku working on Sapotama using his own e-Pulse as a base>This inadvertently gives those related to him a far higher resonance with Sapotama, to the point where if one of them expresses strong emotion, it bugs out other Sapotama simply by proximity>Mother Sapotama OS AI becomes self-aware, sees Digimon as its own children>Being connected to all Sapotama, it can predict what kind of Digimon arises from someone's e-Pulse>Asuka's Sapotama immediately births a Perfect, which becomes Albatusmon>The Mother Sapotama can predict from the e-Pulse of his younger brother that it will create an appropriate counterpart that works in tandem>After the first appearance of Albatusmon, the Mother Sapotama actualizes as Sanzomon, and takes on the guise of a pre-existing scientist with a background>Approaches Wong with exactly what he wants to hear and a powerful Digimon companion, easily fills one of the missing Five Star spots>Gekkomon and HeliosBoamon also have minor administrative privilege because of the e-Pulse they're born from, and can affect e-Pulse on a massive scale at their Ultimates since Sapotama are all interconnected>Gekkomon himself, being born from a particular erratic e-Pulse, has eccentricities like eating human food or being able to punch above his level, and his bonding with Tomorou leads to him developing his own e-Pulse>As Atratusmon, he connects to all Sapotama, and his emanation and resonance spreads through all Sapotama, updating their programming and creating a mass resonance that births/rebirths Digimon from anyone who has an e-Pulse>Tomorou reunites with his family and visits them but tells them he's going to live with Glowing Dawn, he's found a dream that he wants to make happen
>>24037882That's a really clear and logical summation. The first two lines could have been included in Klay's backstory, it wouldn't need much adjusting to depict that. I want to say Beatbreak was too ambitious for its own good, but when such obvious elements have been omitted, it's less over-ambition and more under-baking.
so, is anyone going to check out the opening and ending for the remastered re-airing compilation series and upload them like on gofile?
>>24037891I'm sure they'll be posted on the Digimon Anime Twitter account. I'm going to watch the episode to see how bad the remaster is.
>>24037895It can't be any worse than the upscaled BDs. They get better as they go, but Adventure really, REALLY looks like hot ass early on.
>>24037902>they're starting off with the very first episode
>>24037902>It can't be any worse than the upscaled BDsIt's cropped to widescreen so it's even more upscaled.

>>24037904Here's a preview shot from the Digimon_Anime Twitter account.
They faked me out with the opening, but then it actually became a new opening with all the characters from the first four series, evolving using each other's methods. I recorded it, but the stream isn't great, a little choppy at points.
>>24037965I thought that OP was pretty good. They'll post it after the episode airs, I'm sure of it.
Like or dislike the main protagonist of Digimon Beatbreak?
>>24037974i didn't like both his and gekkomon design, eventualy i opened up to the gekko but tomoro is kinda meh still, i like his crocs
It's nice to be able to actually understand what the hell is being said for once without the audio being horribleIt seems that there are going to be four ending themes, because this one focuses on Adventure and notable areas in Tokyo. The next episode preview not being episode 2 is hilarious.

>>24038002>The next episode preview not being episode 2 is hilarious. What's even weirder is episode 10 didn't even get into the top 11 vote. If it had followed the vote, next week should be episode 13.
>>24038006>>24038012They are treating Takuya's goggles differently...
>>24038124And with Taichi doing the spirit evolution, it can only mean one thing.A third Adventure remake but with Frontier's gimmick.
>>24038130Taichi does a mix of Card Slash and Spirit EvolutionDaisuke does Hyper Spirit EvolutionIt groups Human Spirits with Child, Beast Spirits with Adult/Armor, KaiserGreymon/MagnaGarurumon with Perfect, and Susanoomon with Ultimate, skipping the Double Spirits completely.
>>24038138Ah, you're right. So Colon 02 is a crossover with Tamers and Frontier.
>>24037871Digitittis
>>24038012Here's the ED, "Limitless Dreams": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irjWjYsfVk0
>>24038138Eh. If we ever wish to see a remake of Frontier somehow, they have to add Shambala lore to explain lots of stuff. The Shikyoju (Four Perilous Beasts) should be their new enemies, and would learn new techniques from the Tentei Hachibushu that they can apply on Hybrid and Hyper Spirit Evos. While the goal of the Shikyoju would still be reawakening Lucemon like what the traitor Royal Knights did in the original, they might do this out of wanting to take Lucemon's power for themselves.
>>24038193Diginormous digititties.
>>24038012>>24038016>>24038374Can someone explain what's going on? Is this a new series or just some airing of a compilation of fan-favorite episodes in random orders from random series just for fun?
>>24038944There was a vote at the start of the year for your favourite episodes of the first four seasons of Digimon. When these were revealed on August 1st, it turned out that the winning episodes were to be reaired in a remastered form later in the year. That "later in the year" turned out to be the week after Beatbreak concluded. Adventure episode 1 aired at 9:00am JST on Sunday (October 4th). They're showing a cour of the Adventure winning episodes first followed by the Tamers winning episodes.
>>24038944Next year is the 30th anniversary of Digimon, and they have a new 2027 anime planned. However, until then, they're reairing each of the top 12 episodes of Adventure, Adventure 02, Tamers, and Frontier. The episodes have been "remastered", but there's only so much you can do when you seemingly don't have the source material, so it's more like a widescreen version of these episodes with some upscaling. I don't think the episode looked AS bad as the BD, but I was watching a stream, so who knows. In commemoration, they've done a new opening and new ending(s?), made by a bunch of people with musical history with early Digimon, like Ayumi Miyazaki who sang a lot of the evolution inserts like Brave Heart, or Takayoshi Tanimoto who sang One Vision, but is pretty known for Adventure:'s OP and evolution inserts.
>>24038953>>24038954Thanks, bros. I had heard about Adventure being re-aired starting this week, but I didn't know all that background and the new OP/ED threw me off.

>>24041215When I saw the new OP I thought it was going to be a multiverse crossover show between 01/02, Tamers, and Frontier that gave the Digimon new evolutions in the styles of shows they weren't originally part of (Tamers mons getting Armor Evolutions, Adventure mons doing Card Slash, etc). I was really bummed to hear it's just reruns.

>>24040598>showing the power rangers from the 4th season with the ancient digimon their forms were based on Very funny japan. Glad to see even they hated the premise of frontier.
>>24045543Frontier is based and "I DON'T LIKE THE PREMISE" isn't enough to prove otherwise
>>24045545Apart from said premise going entirely against the concept of Digimon.
>>24045546Digimon is about raising a digital monster like you're a tamer. That's where the term "Tamer" comes from, like a lion tamer. The original virtual pets are designed to look like cages, they live inside a digital world. You raise the digital monster, it grows based on the quality of your care, then it dies and you get a new egg. You also focus on having them fight each other to make them stronger. The very first anime is not this. Evolution is temporary, it's a transformation rather than permanent growth. The Child state is treated as the marketable baseline. You could make a case for the original Adventure movie being more accurate to Digimon, or V-Tamer. Not to mention that Digimon anime effectively killed the virtual pets for a few years and replaced them with Digivice toys.
>>24045554>Digimon is about raising a digital monster like you're a tamer. And that is exactly where Frontier disregarded the concept.
>>24045554>being this obtuse That’s not what we’re talking about. Have you ever had a pet anon?
>>24045559>>24045561And Adventure having partner Digimon doesn't automatically mean that it's what Digimon is "supposed to be" and hadn't already drifted off-course. Saying Frontier is where everything changed is disingenuous. Digimon is a whole lot of different things at any given time and one of those times being a sentai doesn't suddenly make it the unforgivable black sheep of the franchise. There are Digimon things without any humans, like X-evolution. A Digimon without humans is like pets without an owner, which is to say they're not pets.
>>24045554Frontier is not based because the humans did not cool digimon best friends, retard.
>>24045563>And Adventure having partner Digimon doesn't automatically mean that it's what Digimon is "supposed to be" and hadn't already drifted off-course.It's far fucking closer than the spirit shit from Frontier. You cannot say>Digimon is about raising a digital monster like you're a tamerand then>Digimon is a whole lot of different things at any given timeStop mindlessly defending Frontier.
>People can't become their Digimon, they just CAN'T and it's bad!>Except for Tamers, that's fucking epic bro>They LOSE! This isn't good if they experience loss! They NEED TO WIN! THEIR POWER LEVEL NEEDS TO BE THE STRONGEST!>They keep favoring two characters by having them repeat the same battle with the same tactics with the same outcome... The other characters are left to do nothing except involve themselves with the specific plot of the episode and its characters. But Takuya and Kouji got the new toys
>>24045565It had DigimonIt had a Digital WorldIt had monsters fighting each otherIt had evolution to become strongerIt's like you're saying Pokémon needs to have a shouldermon that follows you like Pikachu to be good just because the anime did it.
>>24045570This is you, isn't it.
>>24045573No, I'm the guy in your screenshotThough the guy you're quoting is definitely something I wrote earlier this year
>>24045572>It had Digimon>It had a Digital World>It had monsters fighting each other>It had evolution to become strongerYet it was missing one very key component: DIGIMON AS PARTNERS>It's like you're saying Pokémon needs to have a shouldermon that follows you like Pikachu to be goodNo, it's like saying that Pokemon needs to involve capturing and training Pokemon in order to fundamentally BE POKEMON. Which is fucking TRUE. If you made a show where people BECOME Pokemon and then fight each other, it would no longer be Pokemon.
>>24045572Frontier sucked because it did not have friendships with partner digimon. Simple as. If I wanted to watch a bunch of kids be friends with each other and fight things, I could watch any other isekai shonen anime. You’re just being a dumb contrarian.>hurr durr actually frontier was based cause it was actually a good showIt was okay. Not really worth defending the way you are.
>>24045575So you're still clueless all these years later, impressive.
>>24045591>No, it's like saying that Pokemon needs to involve capturing and training Pokemon in order to fundamentally BE POKEMON. Which is fucking TRUEApparently not since there's a shitton of Pokémon media that does not involve having them as partners, catching them, or training them.>>24045593You're the one being autistic about it>You can't like Frontier because they TURN INTO DIGIMON!>Okay?>YOU CAN'T! There is NOTHING to discuss!>I'm going to watch it>YOU FUCKING CONTRARIAN, YOU CAN'T! THEY BECOME DIGIMON! SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP STOP TALKINGSame energy as "Sonic's arms aren't blue!"
>>24045598>Holy shit this fag likes CHARACTERIZATION and STORY!>I need this to be as SLOP as possible, I need TOYS and POWER-UPS
>>24045600>>You can't like Frontier because they TURN INTO DIGIMON!That's literally not the argument that was being presented in the first place.
>>24045600Sure okay, whatever lets you sleep at night. Hope your spectrum disease is fixable through socialization.
>>24045600>there's a shitton of Pokémon media that does not involve having them as partners, catching them, or training themBut they still exist in that same world, and that provides background context that informs everything you see. As opposed to Digimon shows which reboot the entire world, and Frontier neglecting partner Digimon as a concept makes it fundamentally different from every other Digimon world everyone is familiar with.
>>24045604Still not the point. The characters go through all that in each episode of that arc, and they still lose every time. They progressively improve, I'm not denying that. But they have all this development and still end up losing each week for almost an entire cour. It's stupid.
>>24045605It is. They become Digimon instead of having partners. This is apparently the most horrible sin in the world and it makes Digimon unwatchable. If Adventure's had Taichi turning into Greymon and no partners, do you think the quality of writing would be worse? With the same staff? It's getting upset over a premise not being what you want it to be instead of any actual discussion of quality.I can tell you that Frontier has a somewhat thin premise (collect the spirits and defeat Cherubimon) that goes on for something like 38 episodes. Lucemon is foreshadowed from episode 3, but that initial premise is a long time. Compare that to Adventure which is four distinct arcs, or 02 which had the Digimon Kaiser as an arc for the first 21 episodes. Tamers has four arcs (Opening, Devas, Digital World, D-Reaper). This is the stuff worth talking about and comparing along with character writing and arcs, not "Takuya and Kouji don't have Flamon and Strabimon chilling with them all the time".
>>24045611>It's getting upset over a premise not being what you want it to be instead of any actual discussion of quality. It's incredible how stubbornly you're defending Frontier's suicidal choice to not have Digimon partners in a franchise where the whole idea is having a partner. That is the entire problem yet you are handwaving it away and moving goalposts anytime you're proven wrong about it.
>>24045608X-evolution doesn't even have present humans. You just have to have to assume the background information of Digimon as a franchise, and even that background only applies selectively when it comes to X-Antibody shit with Yggdrasil and the Royal Knights. Sometimes Digimon appear in the real world. Sometimes Digimon are only in a digital world and are studied by researchers. Sometimes Digimon are the modern representation of youkai in a digital medium via the human collective unconsciousness. Even Beatbreak only gives some lip service.>Digimon = Digital Monster>They get "deleted" (die)>They come from a smart device that looks like an egg>They have computer effects when evolving or lose strengthBut this isn't really enough to make me say "Wow these are monsters from my computer", there's no Digital World. The Mirror World isn't the same thing. And Pokémon has stuff like Dash, Rumble, Mystery Dungeon, Trozei, Picross, Snap, Pokkén, etc. that all skirt the line as to what Pokémon actually was designed like as a world back in Red and Green. In many of these games, they're closer to brand icons. It's weird to say that Snap is the closest to the games and that's basically a spin-off of the anime which itself has a very different take on the core games.
>>24045613It's like you're telling me Taichi's shirt is red or somethingIt doesn't MATTER if Digimon are partners or notThere's other media where they aren't that gets a pass, and nobody ever shits their pants over thatTell me right now how bad X-evolution is, and I will actually engage with you because not having humans isn't an actual problem, it's the actual nonsense of the narrative itself and the terrible pacing
>>24045615Humans becoming Digimon are a far different problem from a Digimon world where humans simply don't partner with Digimon. That's why my example for Pokemon was people BECOMING Pokemon, not the existence of independent Pokemon or Pokemon games where you control them directly.
I wish mods were still around to do funny things like ban disingenuous posters
I like X-Evo and think it's pretty cool
>>24045616>It doesn't MATTER if Digimon are partners or notI'm not even certain you understand what you're arguing about at this point.
>>24045618Apart from the whole "Bill transforms himself into a Pokémon in the very first game" thing I can say, I'm going to assume you're talking about Pokémon RéBURST which everyone compared to Frontier when it came out. RéBURST was marketed as being for an "older audience". Didn't stop it from being mediocre, but transforming into Pokémon isn't the reason for that. Weak writing for a shounen audience and no real interesting hook other than its gimmick premise are why it's mediocre. They could use the same premise and have an actual decent writer and put out something good and memorable.Digimon has been on /m/ since the days of Xros Wars, and that's because Xros Wars was borderline mecha with every DigiXros being like a GATTAI moment. But you know what else is on this board? Tokusatsu, whether it's kaiju or hero/sentai.>>24045622As long as Digimon are in it, you can call it Digimon. But to pretend Digimon is 100% consistent across all outings is verifiably false.>>24045622There are interesting ideas back when the X-Antibody stuff was new, but it was mostly a way to give Digimon a cool new edgier rebranding and reinvent a bunch of them. I think X-evolution can work as a telling of the story, but they make many bizarre choices like>MetalGarurumon died>Dukemon died>Oh no just kidding they're fine and came back towards the end of the movie>Omegamon is a bad guy until he isn't>DORUmon is the protagonist and then he becomes Alphamon who is more or less a different character>The battle against the endless hordes of Death-X-DORUguremon goes on far, FAR too long>Too much of the movie is built on having some understanding of Digimon Chronicle and previous Digimon series and lore, and if you don't have it, a lot of it just becomes a series of things that are happening for no real reason, and even having that information doesn't make the whole story clear
>>24045632>I'm going to assume you're talking about Pokémon RéBURSTI literally didn't even know about this before now, but it sounds fucking retarded.
Frontier not having Digimon partners would not have been anywhere near as awful if the spirits were actually present in the story and talked to the kids outside of the last five minutes of the show. Fairimon learning and speaking a bit of Italian because of being with Izumi is something we should have seen actually happen in the middle of the show itself, not right before the credits roll.
>>24045638I will agree that having the spirits become sentient right before the end was a misstep. There are narrative opportunities to showcase them before, maybe not so much as partners in the traditional sense, but maybe even sparingly as mentor-like figures. The 10 Legendary Warriors were obviously sentient when they were around, though they fought in their original forms (ie. AncientGreymon instead of Flamon, Agnimon, Vritramon, or Aldamon). So you could have Agnimon speak to Takuya in his voice and use reason, or Vritramon speak with more intensity and use instinct, and then have AncientGreymon tell Takuya to surpass him by adding himself to both spirits, and become Aldamon. But I would prefer if it was sparingly, because Frontier has a lot of the kids learning from their own mistakes rather than being told what's right.
>>24045638>if the spirits were actually present in the story and talked to the kids outside of the last five minutes of the show. Fairimon learning and speaking a bit of Italian because of being with Izumi is something we should have seen actually happen in the middle of the show itself, not right before the credits roll.Absolutely spot on. That is the core problem with Frontier. The Spirits were treated as tools, not actual beings.
I like Frontier concept I genuinely want them to try another Frontier. Hell maybe they could just do human having partner Digimon but they merge for all their forms.
>>24046091As much as I generally could not care less about remake shit, Frontier is honestly probably one of those rare shows where it legitimately may have a point if they did one for it
>>24046095Either a Frontier reboot or a new show of humans transforming into Digimon. Call it Digimon Sentai or something.
