For all the hype this suit gets it seems pretty underpowered even if just compared to the F91 and the F91 just has after images

>has an even better version of the system that makes Xi fly and miniaturized.
>all ranged beam weapons make the VSBR and beam Magnum look overage or even underpowered.
>if the pilot is skilled enough they can use what is essentially waste product as giant beam sabers.
>unlike in many other shows both the V2 and V are not helpless in jet mode if the user is creative.
No it's pretty good.
>>
>>24038219
V2 is the most broken and strongest UC Gundam if you don't apply the super robot hacks on Unicorn.
It's also the only main UC Gundam that wasn't trashed at the end
>Rx-78 got destroyed
>Zeta and ZZ got destroyed
>Alex, GPs and Ez8 got destroyed
>Unicorn became crystallized
>Nu and Xi got destroyed
>F91 got severely damaged
>V2 stayed intact
>>
>>24038257
But unicorn basically undid its crystallization.
>>
>>24038262
Was it? I think I misremembered then
>>
>>24038219
that's what happens when your enemy is a well funded military and your funded by donations.
>>24038231
>>24038257
V2 is basically outmatched by most of its enemies. Zanneck can snipe from HALO where Usso only avoided it because of newtype shenanigans. Gengazo slapped V2 Buster Gundam alot and was basically saved by ramming a lot of top flyers and bottom flyers (was the nuclear reactor stored in the feet or arms? how the heck it caused that much of explosion?)
>>
>>24038303
To be fair both of those suits are newtype bullshit suits, the Zanneck especially being a sniper suit that operates off of the pilot's newtype sense telling it where to shoot from outside of sensor range. Fuala the pilot of both could also be argued to be like top 3 pilots in the show as well so saying the V2 has problems fighting once of the best aces of the era who was a newtype is special newtype suits but still managed to clutch it out in the end against both is a pretty good showing I'd say.

There were only 2 to 3 comparable high end mobile suits to the V2, the best mobile suits fielded by Zanscare. Not only was Fuala's suits comparable to V2 (to the point Uso is wondering if the Gengazo's backpack has infinite energy), she was a stronger newtype and pilot.

>was basically saved by ramming a lot of top flyers and bottom flyers
That was the Zanneck. Uso outright beats the shit out of the Gengazo at the end, but you can say Fuala was distracted due to her insanity and should've killed him earlier in that episode but got saved.

Wasn't v2 mass machine?
>>
speaking of F91... what's that thing like in gravity? it's pretty much built for space innit?
>>
>>24038652
Best answer I've ever seen to that was this https://desuarchive.org/m/thread/23955592/#23998473 anon a few months back. It's not a pretty answer.
>>
>>24038219
What? It has the core block system with spare parts ready, wings of light, vsbr, a shoulder beam cannon, and that super beam shield. v2ab has huge firepower, f91 only has mepe mode over it
>>
>>24038219
Spec-wise it's really good, the actual problem is its performance in the show (talking here about the add-on parts, not the core V2 itself).
>>
>>24038652
we see it operating in the colony just fine, it can probably fly as well as the victory models although im not sure if mepe works on earth
>>
>>24038231
>>has an even better version of the system that makes Xi fly and miniaturized.
The F91 already had minovsky flight.
>>all ranged beam weapons make the VSBR and beam Magnum look overage or even underpowered.
They're not useful at all in the show.
>>if the pilot is skilled enough they can use what is essentially waste product as giant beam sabers.
The F91's afterimages are the same and it has psychoframe
>>
>>24038765
Not the anon you're arguing with, but

>The F91 already had minovsky flight.
No, it didn't.

>The F91's afterimages are the same
??? No, the F91's afterimages can't damage enemies or block beam attacks.

Basically, as far as performance in the show itself goes, none of the weapons on the V2 are particularly impressive or special. And the extra armor sucks and gets taken down by handheld bazookas (so, an old MS could probably take out the V2 with vulcans) BUT the Wings of Light are actually good. They have huge range and work both offensively and defensively, being able to be spread really fast. That's the gimmick that's actually impressive in the show. Everything else falls flat and no better than what you could see as far back as the ZZ era.
>>
Mogged by G-Saviour. Also core block mobile suits are gay toy shit. At least in the original gundam it was forced in by execs.

V2 kind of got shafted because aside from how op m drive is, and it's aramament, it doesn't have anything like the biocomputer or biosensor. why do you think that is?

That right there really is the best argument to have against the V2 and I think in Video games its on the best display wherein it gets placed regularly in the same tier as Strike Freedom,00 or Turn A where in it basically lacks a cheap shot outside of utilizing its stats which in them are normalized.
>>

What? The biocomputer's wiring is a major subplot in the film. And the psycommu system is too, it's how Seabook finds Cecily at the end.

Worth noting that this is the S Gundam variation that replaces the legs with big fuckoff rocket boosters. It's still hilariously overstatted for the era, but ti can only fly in a straight line and IIRC the pilot pissed himself from the G forces and everyone calls him piss baby for a while
>>
>>24038283
NTA but yeah. Banagher's psycofield ran out of control after diffusing the Gryps 2 laser, but Riddhe managed to stop him from ascending by telling Banagher he'll take Audrey for himself if Banagher leaves. The Unicorn undid its crystallization and the Federation had it blacksited, as two mobile suits blocking an entire colony laser made them akin to gods, and that's way too dangerous a technology to leave lying around.
>>
>>24039070
NT in general became super rare by the Victory era, making and space on the Victory series was a premium l, so putting that tech there would have been a waste of time. Had they prepped it properly, they might have added something to the V2 since they knew Usso would be the pilot, but they didn't.

Meanwhile, the only NT machine Zanscare deployed was the Gengaozo, which felt more like a tested for future NT machines and not something that should ever be fielded.

The Gengaozo wasn't even their most dangerous NT machine the Zanneck using a fucking Psycommu system to divine the location of targets so it can snipe you from wherever the fuck it wants outside of the battlefield is peak bullshit, genuinely only counter able by the target being a Newtype who can detect the bad vibes coming for the enemy about to fire from outside of sensor range.
>>
>>24039283
I know it's science fiction but how do you even build shit like this?
>>
>>24039330
I assume smaller scale tests, since Newtypes being able to fuck with the minds of others has been a known thing since the Gryps conflict, so tests on a smaller scale probably resulting in people being sent into the state the Angel Halo sends people than bigger tests sending larger numbers of people into that to form a projected graph of effectiveness, then building a device big enough to hit fuck up the entire earth in one blast area of the graph's projections.

>>24038283
Yeah, you can briefly see a shot of the Unicorn in Narrative and it's all tied by tapes, but still intact.
>>
>>24039330
Relatively easily, since it's all 0g construction. Just mine some asteroids to build it and it's practically free. Becomes even easier when you consider that MS-scale humanoid construction machines exist. Compared to a colony this is a hobby project. Unless it's much larger than I remember, it was definitely smaller than a colony right?
>>
>>24038219
That's because its the suit with the most powerful minovsky drive ever conceived. I highly doubt the record breaker can use it's wings of light to obliterate entire armies.
>>
>>24039727
IIRC it was 120 km across. That's as many as four colonies.
>>
>>24039837
And that's terrible.
>>
>>24039006
I believe even the thrusters of V Gundam and Gun EZ uses a type of primitive Minovsky drive similar to the one mentioned for F91 to explain for their high efficiency in atmospheric flight.
>>
>>24039914
The Victory has a minovsky flight system, a miniaturized version of the minovsky craft which is what the Xi uses. The Gun-EZ just flights using rockets which is why it isn't as maneuverable.

Besides what everybody else has mentioned, are there any official sources that say that the V2's engine has inertial dampening properties? The only source I have is the wiki, but if it's true then doesn't that make it literally the only UC MS with that capability? The whole problem with mobile suits is that they still have to carry a squishy human being inside that's subject to the laws of physics (particularly inertia), the V2 being able to mitigate that would give it an entirely new dimension that you would usually only see in magical settings like 00.
>>
>>24040345
Yeah that's pretty much the only reason the Phenex could go near light speed, because there was no human body inside to worry about.
>>
>>24040156
It's specifically the reboot.
>>
>>24040006
Unless the reader is innately aware of OP's intentions, most people aren't going to see the word
>Underpowered
And deduce we are talking about Usso's performance in the V2AB, and not... Well, the objective power of the mobile suit.
>>
>>24040093
I don't get how people can see this scene and not think the V2 is special.
>>
>>24040410
You can go near lightspeed if the acceleration is gradual. Given the Phenex accelerated pretty fast in that one scene. The main reason is that it runs off magic from literal heaven so it can thrust forever. The V2 doesn't have infinite thrust like what is theorized. Its reactor runs out at the end of the show. Otherwise it's theorized the MDU itself could accelerate to relativistic speeds.

>>24040345
Official, as in Sunrise? I don't think so. It's mainly from databooks, like Master Archive: Mobile Suit Gundam Victory, and maybe the old 1/100 gunpla manuals. And it's more like a cushion iirc, not mass or gravity manipulation like GN particles or Ahab Particles. It's just an advanced form of the mechanical inertia/G-force dampers normally in MS.
>>
>>24040463
You don't consider the old kit manuals to be official?
>>
>>24040419
He literally said "even if just compared to the F91 and the F91 just has after images". He's literally saying the V2AB seemed weak for what it is, despite having way more features than the F91.
>>
>>24040093
It has some guns, and two really big beam sabers
I can see why that seems pretty underwhelming in comparison to other gundams.
>>
>>24040463
>The main reason is that it runs off magic from literal heaven so it can thrust forever
it also goes from 0 to c in like 10 seconds without crumpling like paper, which means it's functionally indestructible and could probably tank a colony drop on its face without scratching the paint
>>
>>24040422
Because we have Gundams like the Aerial that can navigate a drone to that shits cockpit area and fire. We also have the Turn A able to just annihilate it with Nanomachines.

Does it look pretty and imposing sure. But it is not as efficient or practical as many of the other weapons in Gundam and quite a few of them can easily make manuevers to scrap V2 with their armorments.
>>
>>24040809
Turn A is built like 1000s of years after V2 in the same universe no shit it shits on it
Aerial is gay who cares

V series is mostly just basic MS with good performance and plenty of modularity. It's basically the same system as the Impulse and we do see Usso make very good use of it. The trade off is the frame seems weaker due to the transformation scheme (and we do see this in the show). So while it can match most Zanscare suits, the LM in general is behind on manpower and tech compared to Zanscare. The V2 fixed some of those problems with a stronger frame, but still kept the transformation system, and the wol is revolutionary tech, but that's all they could afford, they barely had the luxury to innovate.

Meanwhile the Phantom is a much more advance Moblie suit, held back by complications that arrived when reverse engineering the F99s that they wrecked back at Steel 7 (namely, they overheated the suit when the Minovsky drive is turned on). Some nerd Mcguyvered it to work and the CrossboneVanguard made some
improvements on it. It even been mass produced 15 years later in Dust.

Uso Erwin can beat Suletta Mercury when they're both in Gun-EZ cause he's a newtype and she's a scub that relied on AI to get by.
>>
>>24040923
Yeah, but Phantom's situation was completely different. It was unfeasable to MP at the time, and all they added to it was just a stop gap to make it work, which would make it prohibited expensive at the time. By Dust, they essentially had a Federation think tank dedicated all their r&d into making the new models, without having a faction looming over then that prevented mass production.

At least Victory, they always did intended to make more Victory and V2's, they just didn't have the time to put the V2 into mass production by the end of the war.

I only assume they managed to get all the extra Victory Hexas near the end since the Federation finally declared open war and dedicated their factories to make the Gun-Ez, Victory and Gunblaster.

F91 lost its VSBRs and left wrist and right leg at the knee. Technically some of the others aren't destroyed either. Someone already mentioned that Unicorn reverted itself to normal.

>Zeta was abandoned inside Axis by Roux after its head and left knee were destroyed. It was likely recovered by the Feds, and depending on the story even gets restored and rebuilt a few decades later.
>Alex lost its head, left arm, and right gatling gun. Again recovered by the Feds. Twilight Axis story says it was reused or recycled into the Tristan Gundam.
>GP03 was barely damaged, although the mobile armor part was ruined by the solar mirror weapon. Kou and Albion returned to the Feds so it's likely in the hands of the Feds.
>Nu's not really confirmed destroyed since they never found it or any wreckage. Amuro and the Nu are literally missing and unaccounted for. Gundam Pulitzer has them searching for the Nu Gundam's wreckage if it even exists.
>Xi is hard to confirm since as far as I know, it get captured by the Feds in the novel and the movies seem to be leaning that way, so unless it's said somewhere that it was dismantled after being captured, I don't think it's destroyed.

One of the times Fuala was sniping at Uso he did a fucking flip and swiped back at her from who knows how far with just the wings, shit is ridiculous
And the wings blocked the shot from hitting everyone who was flying behind him too

The only person capable of matching Uso Erwin in skills is Kira Jesus Yamato.

>propellant tanks on its knees
Wasn't that from either IBO or 00
In either case it always comes across as such a worrying idea to me
>inb4 "just don't get hit"
but what if you gotta knee someone

IBO had drill knees, but I can't recall any propellant tank knees. Pretty much 90% of MS in existence have rocket legs though, and it wouldn't surprise me if thighs and calves are the main propellant storage tanks.
If it's any consolation, the ENTIRE MS is propellant tanks so getting hit anywhere is equally bad.
Also pretty sure most MS don't use flammable propellant, it's just like, water.

00's space tieren had the entire lower leg as a tank, that's probably what you are thinking of.

Ok drill knees are cool, surprised we got those
>it's all propellant tanks
Fear
>but it's water
But water is free, what the fuck? That they're not explosive is a bit reassuring though
I absolutely do get the
>beams are basically lethal no matter what, so we're not giving you armor, just don't get hit, stupid
tendency for the design philosophy of some later bots (even though they still have handy shields and some degree of beam-resistance yeah), just it scares me at.first-glance every time

Yeah that thing, that bozo

>But water is free, what the fuck?
That's the point. It's just mass you can shit out (likely in the form of steam) so that Sir Isaac Newton can push your MS through space
>late UC bots
Worth mentioning that miniature MS completely abandon the point of physical armor to the point that physical bullets become viable again. The F91 and some of the Crossbones have various machine cannon mounts on their bodies for this purpose.
