I just really wish they made Vanken the tertiary instead of a side Rider that'll be shafted (or killed off) later on. He's definitely the best of the bunch so far aside from Tigre.

>>I'd rather Jyao had succeeded in defeated the Fukashigi while next EP they focus on another one
I don't think we're gonna see many Alliance Riders killing Fukashigi on-screen, because when they do the people the Fukashigi ate die alongside them, and that'd be basically showing us that the protagonist is failing to save a bunch of civilians each week. It's why I think they dropped that line where they noted that My-Th had already dealt with several Fukashigi before the Alliance arrived on the scene.

Unfortunately, it's a plot point that I think will limit the Alliance's on-screen achievements for the time being, at least until they find their own way to separate the Fukashigi from their victims.
>>
>>24038719
Another very good episode. I like how Tatsuomi is more of the POV character than Sora or Yuna, and we are figuring out their history alongside him. Because he's technically an antagonist currently, yet he's very sympathetic and understandable in his actions. It works building up the mystery around both factions fairly well.
Vanken being the old-school type of hero who has to make tough decisions for the greater good makes him a good contrast with Sora being a "new age" hero. I'm really hoping he gets to see My-th save the trapped people next week, because he does not seem like the type who'd keep that a secret from the group, and he'll throw a wrench in the whole team dynamic when they find that out.
The only thing that seems underwhelming so far is the action, which is bogged down by too much ugly CGI.

I doubt that. They will probably just have Tatsuomi see it to further his growing curiosity but I doubt they will have another Zoodiac member see it until the 2nd quarter, and even then it will probably be Jyoa who won't care.

What's the name of the martial arts Jyao uses? His stances seem really specific
>>
>>24038988
I think it's just some chuuni shit they made up.

Putting one hand on the hip or behind the back is a move used in fencing to keep the weapon-less arm out of the opponent's blade's reach, but Jyao uses a sickle instead of a sword and is doing that against unarmed opponents. Practitioners of Asian martial arts sometimes do it as part of their training kata to warm up or test their body movement, but they don't do it in actual combat because it'd be dumb to severely limit your moves like that. Characters in fiction do it to look elegant (like fencers) or to show off how skillful they are by only using one hand instead of both.

The move he did in the bottom pic is straight up some fantasy shit, it'd be very hard and impractical to pull off in real life, it's just him moving in a snake-like way with the help of some wires because he's a snake Rider.

I thought they would go for something like Snake Kung-Fu for Jyao's fighting style, but they did something completely different that leans way more on his Rider assets.
>>
>>24039012
Thank you very much for the explanation, I liked how Jyao fought at least but it's kinda disappointing to see him not using proper martial arts when Tigre, Vanken and Rid did so far.
>>
>>24038753
I find it kind of jarring that, apparently, there was a month of timeskip just to justify seed X-eggs drought.
Also, if Fukashigi only got active recently, how did Yuna even make it through before this?

Considering Sora was still a teen when he became I wouldn't be surprised if they go with this explanation even though Sora defeated his first Fukashigi as a teen

>>
>>24039505
The design features a dog biting on the bone but that's also the same color as the bone, honestly some of the Alliance Riders' weapons just look very cheap and stripped down, especially the toy versions which have minimal to nonexistent paint apps.
>>
>>24039524
I assume this has something to do with Takebe or at least her poor standing with Bandai since Gavv's weapons similarly felt really flat

From the first episode, it seems like there only a handful of monster types:
-wing (episode 1)
-fang (episode 2)
-eye (episode 3-4)
-horn (episode 5)
-shell (which i don't think we have seen).

If anything once they showcase all the variants, the various types will probably be reduced from motw to mere background grunts.

The obvious solution is that the Alliance has enough manpower at their disposal to effectively function preventively and kill Fukashigi before they can claim any victims, with their logistical failures simply being the ones given the episodic focus to raise the stakes on the scope of potential consequences if the two groups are unable to arrive at a mutual understanding.

>>24038918
I like that the set-up isn't so clear cut. Even if Vanken raises a fuss about it, Maoh can just frame it as another reason they can't let a rogue agent continue acting independently, and spin retrieving My-Th's belt as a priority "because imagine if Vanken was the one in possession of that belt capable of saving victims".

That doesn't seem to be the angle the show is going for. It seems like the Alliance can't realistically prevent the Fukashigi from claiming any victims at all despite their numbers, experience and best efforts. The best they can do is prevent the Fukashigi from taking more victims and keep the bodies from piling up. Kamuri has seemingly rejected the notion that the victims that have already been devoured can be brought back, and seems to be content with the way things are, which is why he wants to take a disruptive new element like My-Th out of the picture.

The innovative new My-Th being more efficient at saving people than the Alliance Riders is proof that Kamuri's stubborn mentality about not evolving and keeping things as they are is wrong.

>Kamuri has seemingly rejected the notion that the victims that have already been devoured can be brought back, and seems to be content with the way things are, which is why he wants to take a disruptive new element like My-Th out of the picture.

I'm guessing Kamuri knows about being able to save the humans but either doesn't care for it or it's actually part of his plan to evolve humans, which lead to Kamuri fighting/falling out with the My-th from 100 years ago.
>>
>>24041026
>or it's actually part of his plan to evolve humans
I don't think the evolution of humanity is part of his plan since Black My-Th literally accused him of wanting to put a stop to that.

I wanted to support the official English subs but this episode had a surprising amount of inconsistencies and typos, I can't believe this is the team that did Zeztz's subs, ultimately watched EternalCheeser subs which I had ignored due to the whole Slay deal but aside from that one time they seem fine kind of.
Great episode at least, it really seems that every Rider will get an arc even if they aren't complex ones which I'm fine with. Honestly I think no one will die on Christmas since Tigre who has the biggest dead flags hasn't even henshin'd yet.
>>
>>24041762

Finally watched the episode, it was another okay one.

My favorite part was the opener with Vanken. I liked his out of suit action scene and his transformed fight scene was cool too although it was a bit short, his finisher with the collar spikes was neat. I like his personality too, he seems to be a levelheaded genuine hero like Tigre, but with a more sentimental and poetic side, that moment where he laments not being able to save the victims' friend and apologizes to the sobbing girl was pretty good. He's the also the first and only Rider so far to have a subdued Henshin pose instead of a really showy one. I honestly wish this episode had focused on him more.

Tigre showed up again after being missing in the previous episode, his conversation with Tatsuomi was comfy, although I wish they had acknowledged Tatsuomi's failure to follow his advice in the last 2-parter instead of just talking about his discovery that the devoured victims can be saved, but at least Tigre's aware of this critical detail. We also learned that the Alliance went into slumber because of some mysterious calamity that would resurface 100 years later, Tatsuomi thinks it might be My-Th, but Tigre would rather not talk about it, which is kinda suspicious. I don't think the calamity is the Fukashigi since they were shown to be active back during Sora and Yuna's childhood incident and because this episode just revealed that Yuna can't go on for too long without Seed X-Eggs.

The set up for this 2-parter's issue felt too contrived, not only did they have someone like Otosumi make such a clumsy mistake, but they also had him suddenly mention that there was a whole 1 month timeskip between this and the last episode where they apparently couldn't find any Fukashigi. He could've also hopped on his bike to chase the delivery vehicle, but I guess they really wanted to sell his desperation over Yuna's wellbeing by having him frantically run after it.

(1/?)
>>
>>24044997
I really wonder what the Alliance needs the Seed X-Eggs for, other than to power weapons up. Vanken and Mutn seem to be close, which adds a bit of depth to the scene where he defended her from Jyao's criticisms in the first episode. Also, it seems like Tatsuomi was given Kamuri's personal Ride X-Eggs to transform, which once again highlights the "close bond" they have going on, though I still hope we get to see them interact more to really sell me on their relationship.

Speaking of Tatsuomi, it's nice to see him start to interact with Sora and Yuna more as he gets more involved in their antics and learns more about them as people. The scene where he tries to put on a streamer act while Sora refuses to play along was funny. Also, there's definitely something going on with the Fukashigi and that bottle of medicine.

Jyao finally made his move after showing his contempt for My-Th and jealousy over Tatsuomi being favored by Kamuri multiple times. He wants to take Sora's belt for himself, but even if he succeeded, I doubt he would be able to transform with it since it requires Yuna's authorization and he lacks the psychic link with her on top of that. His fighting style is not at all what I expected, it's very centered on his tail to the point I would call it his main weapon over the sickle, though the way he uses his sickle does fit his smug demeanor. He's also kind of a reckless brute who doesn't care about collateral damaged at all, I guess the way he brute-forced the hook puzzle before foreshadowed that. He did manage to overwhelm My-Th at the end, though his arrogance and tunnel vision ended up allowing the Fukashigi to escape.

(2/?)
>>
>>24044999
So now we know we know that Yuna's health is directly tied to her Seed X-Eggs consumption, and the fact that she passed out at the end is probably gonna cause some issues for Sora in the next episode. It was nice to see Sora fail this week so that the show can avoid making him look like an unbeatable hero and thus maintain a sense of stakes.

I still have some issues with the show's flow and progression, other than the sudden timeskip mentioned at the start, I have no idea why it took this long for the Alliance Riders to finally be presented as being somewhat competent (although Jyao still let the Fukashigi get away) and why they had to be clowned on during their very first on-screen outings. I really hope their limitation regarding not having the ability to save devoured Fukashigi victims doesn't affect their on-screen performance too much.

I hope Sora starts taking the Alliance more seriously now that they're actively getting in his way, and I also would like to see Vanken get more focus and better chances to show off during fights later on.

The fights were good outside of the scene with the bike, I don't like the fact that the bike action so far is mostly CGI.
