So, is this different than Shin Yamato?
>>
Dont let Fukui touch this
>>
>>24039947
This is Shin Yamato
As it turns out Shin Yamato is a riff on the remake
So Shin Shin Yamato
>>
Anno is directing and producing it, its already fucked from inception.
>>
>>24040009
Based illiterate anon.
>>
>>24039935
Ive only seen the original show, how are the 2199 movies and stuff
>>
>>24039935
Yamato wa Never End
There's already Yes amount of sequels at this point. I think it's already to the point of being forced, and the other two main series of the Leijiverse is murdered at this point alongside the creator. GIVE. ME. A. YAMATO. AND. 999. CROSSOVER!!!
>>
>>24039951
Anno isn't any better. He'll demand shot-for-shot remakes of entire scenes from Farewell.
>>
inb4 the Yamato is going to unhinge in half and an EVA jaw will open up to fire a purple beam wave motion gun
>>
>>24040186
If this happens I'll be happy cause that'd be cool as fuck.
>>
>>24039935
wait so is this like a follow up to 2199 or more 2199 or a remake of the remake...
>>
Why use the 2199 moniker if it's not related to 2199?
>>
>>24039935
>Space Battleship Yamato but all the women are fucking crazy, Okita will be 10,000 times more of a hardass on Kodai, and the wave motion gun will be a Freudian/Yungian metaphor and the ship will contain the soul of Kodai's mother
Honestly if the space battles are cool and convey the plot well enough, I'll watch it.
>>
>>24040285
cause it's going to be shameless shot for shot remake of the original.
>>
Is there anyone here who's an Ultraman fan
>>
Does it even make sense to watch Yamato after the first Season? That's all I watched of the new series.
From the original I watched the tv show and I loved, and the Farewell Yamato movie, which is incredible. Then I watched some of Season 2 and another movie but ultimately I dropped it, since it was the same thing all over again.

Very good news. I highly enjoy all the new Yamato material.

Much more than the OG stuff at least.
>>
>>24040000
It sharing half the staff of the remake just makes this all so confusing.
>>
>>24040367
Does stuff from seasons 2 or 3 or whatever else is there come up in 2199?
>>
>>24040296
>deslar
How many spelling variants does this one character have
>>
i hope it has pokemon trainer character designs and kosaku aruga warps in from a time portal to brutally assrape kodai or whatever
>>
>>24040578
This is Anno (Gunbuster) behind the wheel, not his goon Tsurumaki (Diebuster).
>>
>>24040367
>>24040554
If you're talking about 2199, my ranking is:
>2199: must-watch. Outstanding. Put it on your collection next to LoGH and SAC.
>Odyssey of the Celestial Ark: acceptable "side-quest" movie
>2202 Warriors of Love: starts out decent enough, but turns to complete incomprehensible dogshit eventually.
>2205: pretty good, if a bit short at just eight episodes
>3199: doing fine thus far
>>
The story will be about how Susumu keeps dying to save Yuki's life and she's trying to recreate the universe to have one where he doesn't.
>>
>>24040186
We just got evil black corrupted Yamato firing a red and black wave motion gun in 3199 so that isn't even impossible
>>
>>24040578
>>24040612
Wow you somehow managed to have less originality in your jokes than tsurumaki writing.
>>
>>24039935
They're gonna do everything but try to re-do Final Yamato aren't they?
>>
>>24040646
it's on-brand for anno i suppose
>>
>>24040703
Retard.
>>
>>24039935
Is Fukui still on as writer?
>>
>>24040746
No, it's Anno as writer and head director. Tsurumaki and Enokido have nothing to do with this.
>>
>>24040646
The joke is that Yuki keeps fakeout-dying throughout the series, just like how Lalah keeps getting killed by proxy throughout the franchise. But instead of address that this is a bad habit of Gundam writers, the story instead makes up a scenario where Lalah dying NEEDS to happen to keep continuity intact.
>>
>>24040597
I heard a post-2199 thing had something like "Desler did nothing wrong, he was being a necessary evil against a greater threat but we are going to try so hard to completely whitewash anything bad he's done", how true is this because I greatly enjoyed 2199 and my bro Sanada especially
>>
After that awful Gundam series Anno involvement is a red flag
>>
>>24040597
SAC?
>>
>>24041011
Go away, newfaggot.
>>
>>24040968
Yes, that's basically correct. 2205 reveals that the Garmillas were kidnapped from their home planet, brainwashed and made to serve as slaves for the Iscandarians to do their bidding: genocide entire civilizations to fuel Cosmo Energy

Trust Master Anno
>>
>>24041017
Fukui deserves to be thrown in an incinerator.
>>
>>24039935
Anno and Izubuchi doing Yamato is basically my dream project, this was specifically created for me personally
>>
Did George Lucas ever say if SBY was an inspiration on Star Wars?
>>
>>24041484
I really doubt it, considering the lack of a good guy flagship or anything else you could track to Yamato specifically rather than just having shared inspirations.
>>
>>24041490
Someone on TVTropes thinks it was.
>>
>>24041017
I'm fine with "bad guy was preparing against greater evil" like in Shin Mazinger, but it's not like Dr Hell was ever painted as a good person in any regard, so just to confirm - out of sheer incredulity - the show takes this and tries to paint Space Hitler as saintly? Instead of anything nuanced along the lines of "yes but he still did horrid things to us and his own people, he could have just been open about this or asked us for help"?
>>
>>24041568
They still acknowledge that everything Desler did was in the wrong. At no point is Gamilas actually absolved of their sins. And even their alliance with Earth is built on sand and it's acknowledged how much Earthlings still hate them for everything they did earlier. The actual problem is that Iscandar knew they gave Gamilas a dying world and refused to give them the Cosmo Reverse so the only actual option regardless of slave race status is to conquer a new world to live on before the big kaboom happens
>>
>>24041575
Wow, that sounds like the exact opposite of what I was told, that's lovely.
>but Iscandar just told the Gamilas to fuck off
Well...
>been a while since I watched 2199, only remember bits
>wanted to pick up the original as well
Are the originals worth picking up, I was fine with OG Harlock
>>
>>24041601
Only watched the first season and Farewell. Wouldn't say they're good apart from bits and pieces.

This is all elaborated on in 2205:
>Iscandar needed the Garmillans to keep fueling the Sanktel (the chamber inside the planet that powers Cosmo Energy) with the destruction of entire civilizations.
>planet Garmillas itself was dying, so the house of Desler made plans to relocate their empire on a Garmillas-formed Earth
>>
>>24041783
They merged the 1980 Shalbart backstory with Iscandar. I am only up to the beginning of 3199. The original Galman still worship though, despite Gamilabs was the word for "monkeys" to Iscandar.

The sins of Iscandar was a bit weird in 2205, but their idea of immortality through digitization into a data library was interesting. Harkens back to the collectiveness consciousness ideology and like Evangelion and Darling in the Franxx, as well as Galaxy Express with humans switching into mechanical bodies.
>>
>>24041783
Iscandar did stop the conquests eventually, but Gamilians continued and Dessler claimed that it was out of love.

In 2199, Starsha kept policing how wave motion energy was used. But obviously, Fukui rewrote a lot of stuff that contradicted 2199.

The meaning of salvation kept changing. In 2205, it meant digitization and being part of the Iscandar library.
>>
>>24041002
Anno only wrote the two best episodes. It was Tsurumaki and Enokido's baby. Also stay mad yurifag
>>
>>24041893
>Iscandar did stop the conquests eventually
Yes, because their entire civilization (except the royal Iscandar family sisters, who stayed in physical bodies to watch over the Sanktel) turned to energy and passed the task to their blue-skinned ape slaves, who worshipped them as deities.

It was the sisters who began having doubts about the whole enterprise and decided to help Earth.
>>
>built a 3199 Yamato

Atmospheric stabilizers/radiators.

Then you remember wrong.

Some additional technical details.
>>
Man, I dipped on 2022 in it's first arc because the vibes felt bad, so I've low key wondered how on Earth they could decide to redo a Desslar face turn like the original when the OG and 2199 circumstances are so profoundly different and incompatible.
Sounds like I kinda dodged a bullet.
>>
Haven't finished 2199 yet. Is the stuff they show in 2202 and 2205 adapted from stuff in seasons 2 and 3?
>>
>>24042077
Yeah, in rough lines. They pick some general ideas and names, but actual details are all different.
>>
>>24042077
Pretty loosely, but yes - 2202, 2205 and 3199 very roughly correspond to season 2/movie 2, movie 3 and season 3/movie 4 when as far as who the Big Bads are

Alright, that's... rather helpful finds on short notice, thank you.
>mine are red but those are metal-coloured
Thank you, I know fuck-all about physics aside from basic newtonian shit, so aerodynamics may as well be magic. (I should learn more about atmospheric re-entry as well)
This technical stuff is so cool, although I'm not at the level where I can nitpick or disagree with these kinda infoblurbs.
Could I also ask what the tiny ears on the cannons might be? I got the smaller and cheaper 3199 version but I accidentally snapped off one of them and glued it back on, I wasn't sure whether they were supposed to be there or not. I thought they might be searchlights, cannons, or radar things
>>
>>24042304
>Could I also ask what the tiny ears on the cannons might be?
The little boxes on either side of the triple turrets? Secondary optical rangefinders on the original IJN Yamato. Not sure if the space version bothered to specify what space equipment they space replaced them with or if they're just there because the original had them and they wanted to preserve the shape.
>>
>>24042312
They didn't look like stuff I remember seeing on battleships, but I guess I haven't looked at that many...
Man, the wings seem pretty handy, but not at the cost of dismantling 90% of the kit, it's a non-scale cheap Yamato, not the one I posted prior. Somehow the 3 main cannons and the 2 smaller cannons all rotate, which is nice. Could I also ask what the red thing behind the bridge(?) is? Kid-me would have said "the battery" but that's probably fucking insane, and it wouldn't be where the ammo's stored since that's also insane.
Food storage???

Perhaps this will be illuminating.
>>
>>24042369
I should note that while trying to find the thing on the various labeled schematics (all of the easily available versions being frustratingly low resolution), one did call it a generator. I assume that's next to it and the line just wasn't as clear as it could've been. Most correctly identified it as a VLS or more generally as just missiles.

I must be the smartest person in this board, maybe even the whole world

The new NewType issue that cam eout today is supposed to have an interview with Anno and Izubuchi as promo and it apparently has a new illustration of the Yamato in it.

>>
>>24045507
Where?
>>
Japan is going through a nationalistic frenzy so this new Yamato project might make a lot of money. And Anno is even more nationalist than Japanese nationalists because people like Sanae Takaichi likes to suck on Trump but Anno wants a fully independent Japan without militar bases on its soil
>>
>>24046422
I thought Anno wanted everyone to live on farms and beat their wives to death.

That's Hayao Miyazaki. Miya-san recognizes Anno's talent but they disagree almost in everything. About America, Miyazaki openly condemn American militarism but he wants Article 9 to remain and that imply the American bases to stay.
>>
>>24046487
Wasn't 4.0 all about how everyone needs to go back to living on farms and making babies for the great Japanese Empire?

Anno's politics is a fun one, because he seems pretty open, even unpolitical generally, but has a few core chud beliefs that are informed by existing in his subculture at his specific point in time.
>>
>wow ships are kinda cool huh
>CHUD! CHUD! NAZI CHUD! YOU ARE A NATIONALISTIC RIGHT WING CHUD!
Why are americans like this?

LOL that people still think this is the message of Eva, let alone the Rebuilds.
You know they made all that battleship stuff from 4.0 so they could make a Shin Yamato, right?

It does have a lot of Anno-isms
It's kinda like a best of of his versions, the long front, the curve, the cosmo radar, the length, the general level of detail too.
Anno loves overloading his Yamatos with stuff to the point where they start looking like WW2 illustrations of the battleship Yamato, as opposed to the clean look that's a bit more common.
I really wanna see it from the front.
>>
I'm currently watching Season 2 of SBY because I kept being harassed by the voices in my head telling me Farewell isn't good enough to get the gist.
>>
>>24047256
I mean, in this case, Farewell came out before SBY2. It's not a compilation movie. It's a standalone movie that afterwards was expanded into a series (with plot changes to allow them to continue making sequels, while Farewell was made as a finale).
>>
>>24047015
Duel would be the first one to call anything right wing.
