Kamille is the most compelling Gundam protagonist. He starts off as a petty, autistic child who is only fighting the Titans for his own ego, but gradually becomes someone who is genuinely empathetic and ideologically committed to the welfare of Spacenoids and humanity at large. He suffers devastating loss after loss, but it only softens him and reinforces his determination to protect others; even some of his enemies, though he's still realistic enough to kill them if need be.He becomes a genuine hero unlike any other in Gundam, and tragically becomes a martyr for it at the end, with his weakened mental state caused by the extreme stress of the Gryps conflict allowing Scirocco to crush his mind before meeting his well-deserved demise. And the key thing is that all of this feels *earned.* He doesn't turn into some faggy pacifist like Shiro, and he doesn't suddenly become some invincible messiah-figure like Kira; he's ultimately just a kid who grows sick of war and will do anything to make it end.
And also, his wife is REALLY cute. Fa haters must be hung by the neck until dead; you're just jealous you don't have a girl who will instinctively throw her body in front of a speeding car to shield you when you're in a crippled state. How fitting for the best Gundam boy to get the sweetest girl.

I always felt that he wasn't the main character of the series with all the OG's making appearances throughout. Like he was a placeholder vehicle to get us through everyone else's stories.
