Cool mobile suit. Shame about the pedophile that they had piloting it. Bael should had gotten a heated rare metal sword or what Astaroth Origin got.
>>
>>24046407
>for no reason
It was broken after tanking some bullets, it became a dead weight since it couldn't cut or stab anymore because of that.
You nigger just like to parrot some talking points merely to feel smart yet never actually watch it or pay any attention to it don't you?
>>
>>24046460
To be fair, that's more a fault of the fight choreography than anything else. You have to stop and go back and rewatch it in slow motion to even realize that the sword got broken by gunfire. A lot of the fights in IBO suffer from this, they're way too fast and no time is spared on the key moments. It's like watching an AC4 match and just seeing everyone chainboost all over the place, you have no fucking clue what's going on except that a player occasionally just drops off the screen.
>>
>>24043975
Pretty cool mobile suit, but unfortunately it's not cool enough to instantly begin worshipping a guy for piloting it.
>>
>>24043975

Curious to see if that SD Gundam Eternal gatcha game actually does a what-if scenario for it winning. It is a cool Mobile Suit, but one that existed purely to fuel Chocolate-man's delusions.

McGillis should've won.
Rustal should've gotten impaled and subsequently turned into mist by the cold hard metal spike shot out of Tekkadan's darling homo man's Galaxy Libido Cannon.
Every time I rewatch that series I wish the outcome was different.

>>24045159
High level IBO fights were beautiful. I'm able to experience emotions by merely watching the webm related.
>>
>>24043975
I started liking it less after getting the HG.
The animation really did a heavy lifting for this design.
>>
>>24053105
>McGillis should've won
Agree.
>>
>>24043975
I think it being a paper tiger and losing the fight is very fitting for its place within IBO. I think they should have called to attention one of its two famous swords breaking right away at the start of the fight rather than it being a blink and you miss it moment as the call out of it being an unmaintained crapshoot and McGillis and Tekkadan just bet it all on a mobile suit that hasn't been maintained for 300 years and required a pilot who was the guy to win when McGillis was very much not the guy. The fact he didn't get a chance to really break down as a person while he's losing a fight he feels entitled to win was a shame he deserved his "Lalah could have been a mother to me" moment.
>>
>>24053105

While I don't think McGillis should have directly won, Rustal shouldn't have either. It was too clean and his war crimes seemingly get wiped away like they were nothing... And Yay! Peace! Shit was dumber than McGillis plan.

Though I still agree that Tekkadan being wiped out was probably the best end for those who did die.
>>
>>24053874
I think that the biggest problem is that Rustal's side doesn't have more tells for their preference towards peace and ending the practice of human debris if there was more of that before the sudden reveal in the ending it would have perfectly fit into it being a mafia tragedy story where both sides are fighting towards the same objective of a better world they just think the other side is a tyrant hiding behind a false promise. We needed more scenes of Gaelio, Rustal, and Julieta having preferences towards a better world before the jump cut at the end.
>>
>>24053918
Rustal was essentially just cleaning house, after McGillis and Tekkadan were gone there wasn't much of a conflict left. As far as human debris go, he didn't actually use them and his influence is the weakest where the practice is most common. Not sure how its supposed to be interpreted but I thought of it as lip service. As far as the internal changes to Gjallarhorn go, its not clear if it was a long term ambition of his or just reacting to circumstances.

I think it didn't come off well because it ended like that right after Rustal refused Orga's surrender, then used the banned weapon on them. If he took the surrender or had a more conventional bombardment(no ms or dainsleifs used), it wouldn't have allowed for a dramatic last stand. He did what was necessary to get another action scene, not be a coherent character.
>>
>>24053843
>he deserved his "Lalah could have been a mother to me" moment.
His entire sperg out in S2 is basically that.
>>
>>24054497
Rustal only cared about maintaining his and Gjallarhorn's overall power. Since Mcgillis exposed so much of their corruption Rustal basically had no choice but to reform or else the blocks would never fall in line again. He also got rid of Human Debris and gave Mars independence purely because that would mean less disgrunted youths who might rise against the system since Tekkadan proved that a few AVs and some salvaged Gundam's could be a major threat to local forces. Rustal wasn't a benevolent person though as he was just as fine with the corruption until they got caught and just as elitist and racist as the rest of Gjallarhorn.

It's a weird circumstance where the antagonist wins but is forced to cede ground in the aftermath anyway because of how the political situation played out

Season 2 made me dislike tekkadan and I was rooting for Rustel half way into it.
the worst part is that it feels like this was intentional so I don't know if this is good writing or not.
>>
>>24057513
Aside from looking evil, what has Rustal even done wrong anyway? I feel like it's an intentionally misleading design.
>>
>>24057517
Working with Iok and employing Galan Mossa. Iok serves as a very public idiot bad guy lacky character running constant bad PR for Rustal in the eyes of the viewer. Galan Mossa being his secret agent for false flagging bullshit to disrupt his enemies power bases was also a very bad guy coded situation too usually good people aren't pulling shadow gambits like what Mossa was used for before he died.
>>
>>24057517
Rustal deliberately showed dissent in the colonies to inspire rebellion while sabotaging their weapons so when they rebelled because he instigated them he could massacre the helpless colonists with no resistance to keep their numbers down and allow the remaining colonists to be paid less as punishment for the rebellion. And it's implied he'd been doing shady stuff like this to keep Earth above the others for his whole career. And even then he instigated wars on Earth he puppet mastered through Galan in order to discredit anyone he didn't like. Rustal did plenty wrong

Rustal had nothing to do with that. We’ve been over this every single thread. His fleet was called in to clean up but it was the Regulatory Bureau that set up Dort then pointed Arianrhod to clean it up
>>
>>24043975
The choreography is really iffy. He was winning most of the fight before the writers remembered he's supposed to lose. He also abandoned his broken sword even though it's still usable like a dagger and neither equipped it with more weapons nor scavenged the battlefield. He didn't even remember his suit's hands are claws and can probably shred enemies. It felt retardedly forced.
>>
>>24059033
This
I think people are mistaking military jurisdiction for administrative. The Arianrhod would, presumably, be in charge of general operations in the area. Things like chasing down pirates and suppressing armed groups (oh hey) would fall under their mandate.

Things like labor disputes, protests, cargo shipments, and investigating suspected terrorists would not.

Could they have been in on the Dort massacre? Sure. But, there is really no reason to bring them in. They have a very clear role and would behave rather predictably to the plan. Bringing them in only endangers the plan by increasing leak risk and reducing plausible deniability.

Gjallarhorn was openly corrupt at that point. I don't think they card about leaks or plausible deniability. Everyone in space knew they were dirty it's why they wanted to rebel to begin with

They did that because the African Union which is who she had broadcasting her speech told them to. All 72 Gundam frames were identical out of the factory, and could interchange armor and gear provided that no major changes were made to the frame itself.

>>24059014
>>24059849
>All 72 Gundam frames were identical out of the factory
Doesn't mean that the equipment was all manufactured at the same time or wasn't altered during service. Not to mention pilot preferences, since, I assume, all IBO Gundam frames were treated like ace customs and tailored to their users. Just like the ones in the anime, actually, Barbatos and Kimaris are pretty much works in progress during the whole series, Gusion and Flauros are both noticeably altered in some way to suit their pilots, even if it's just a coat of paint in Flauros' case. Bael's the only one to stay pristine and untouched, simply because it's shut away for most of the series and even then it's never elaborated upon whether it looked like that straight from the factory or its current form was just the way Agnika Kaieru liked it, or perhaps both.
>>
It really is infuriating. On one hand you have the bad boy rebels, on the other you have the cool knightlike guys and they decide the one that comes out on top is the boring ass modern day politician and his artillery. It's insulting to anyone with any sense of cool and aesthetic. If that's what modern day producers want to see then mecha really is dead
>>
>>24059905
The writers justification was that it was supposed to be a reckless yakuza story, where some punk guys get big heads and get smacked down by the system. This made people angrier, because they're clearly not the kinds of protagonists that show up in those works. The morality isn't gray enough to justify the law completely stomping them into the dirt at the end.

There's a world where they actually do slide into excuses and self-justification as their morality degrades and eventually earn a bad ending, but it just doesn't happen here. They're bright eyed ex-slaves transporting a peace princess and the writers genuinely expected you to understand when they get fragged by sudden plot conveniences.
>>
>>24059874
We honestly don't know. For all we know the gundams could have basically been lionized mass production models that swapped loadouts depending on the mission and only became "unique" after they passed into legend, largely out of inablity to swap loadouts. Or not. We really do know fuck all about the calamity war(and probably never will.)
>>24059972
To this day it baffles me how they think the show could have ended in any other way than tekkadan getting fucked up. It's set up from the first season. Like maybe macky's whole deal could have ended on something other than a wet fart but there was no way mika and orga were getting anything other than got.
>>
>>24060053
>but there was no way mika and orga were getting anything other than got
Orga should've listened to Biscuit instead of getting him killed so he shouldn't have to listen to a lone, singular voice of reason borne by Tekkadan. Similar with the pompadour guy from the second season, seemingly the only other guy that actually thought for himself instead of blindly following the will of the Great Leader of their little suicidal child soldier cult. Maybe then there would've been another way.
>>
>>24059905
The age of individual knights and heroes is over, politics and logistics triumph over everything in warfare now.
>>
>>24060100
This has both always been true and we've always still written stories about individual knights and heroes.

IBO also ignores politics and logistics when it's against the heroes. The villains get their own protagonist powers hero, they get infinity toothpicks, and nothing bad happens from using a banned weapon with impunity.
>>
>>24060156
Those who make the rules never have to follow them, just like real life. Nobody watches the watchmen.
>>
>>24060174
The watchmen didn't make the rules in the metaphor, the point is that you can't assign people to keep the peace without more people on top keeping them in line as well, and then people on top of them, forever. It was also a discussion about women being hoes that you can never truly lock down.

In general the entire group was going to fail the moment Biscuit died because he was the one person willing to fight Orga on his points and not be a yes man, note that Biscuit died because of Orga's actions which I'm sure ate Orga up inside and caused countless nights of no sleep, but again like in season 2 it became crystal clear that intentionally or not, Orga had created a cult around using child soldiers as a business to either end child soldiers as a business, or to become king of mars, and nobody left would challenge him on this.
Again I honestly can't tell if IBO was extremely well written because I wanted all these space rats to die by the half way point, or if it's extremely poorly written because I was suppose to be sad about these people dying when I was celebrating the entire time.
IBO in general feels like a show that wanted to have it's cake and eat it too.

It was dumb as hell that Mgcillis didn't disengage the Alyashiki's limiter. He had the perfected version too so there was really no excuse other than stupidity, both from him and the writers.
>>
>>24060100
Yeah and that's why I don't need reality in my escapist fiction. I want to see individual knights and heroes and wish the world was like that. If I want to see brutal politics and society problems I'll just turn off the computer and go outside, then want to go back inside because reality is lame.
>>
>>24060062
Biscuit wanted them to give up and go home when they were already unknowingly marked for death by Gjallarhorn for fucking with them (which they only did because they attacked them first). He wasn't right either. Their out was the mine they got which would have let them make a great living without having to merc anymore but that got fucked up thanks to the MA which again was through no fault of their own but Gjallarhorn's so the whole "Tekkadan should have know better and quit while they were ahead falls flat" because they never had a chance to without Gjallarhorn fucking it up and were always on their radar because they made them look bad in the first few episodes of season 1.
>>
>>24060532
No and the implication is he's not supposed to want to and just be happy that he has a peaceful life and wasn't born a child soldier while his father got what was coming to him
>>
>>24060972
He didn't have a limiter. His AV was perfected and was running on full power the whole time.
>>
>>24046678
Side note: Director Fukuda said that the main idea behind Gundam Seed battles is clarity. That the audience must understand what's going on during battles even if you have to slow things down or increase the lighting.

IBO really didn't follow philosophy at all. I had to constantly replay battle scenes just to understand what's going on.
>>
>>24061276
Yeah, Biscuit was telling them to cut their losses after a point of no return. They had a chance later by not shacking up with McGillis but didn't take it. After the mine incident they did have one point to pull out even if it involved doing wilding out of character things to do so, of abandoning the Turbines, though that also did technically only happened from them still involving themselves with McGillis. Really the key final moment that doomed Tekkadan was them following McGillis well beyond the first season had they just cut ties with them they wouldn't have gone under and all died.
>>
>>24043975
I like that the legendary super-suit doesn't have any fancy super-weapons, just two plain swords. It sells that Agnika Kaieru was just an insanely good pilot all on it's own.
I like how McGillis's plan around Bael is such naive, childish nonsense. He's not right in the head. I especially like how his charismatic attitude doesn't change at all as that comes to light, it's just that now you know.
>>
>>24061356
Bael's biggest edge was it's crazy speed because it had the wing binders most other Gundam's did not. Mcgillis never made effective use of it though, he just assumed having it would make him win.
>>
>>24061384
I mean, on his own he was still fucking up Gaelio + Ein in a souped up Gundam. And before that he was solo murdering every single Graze that crossed his path and even took out a ship or two. He was pretty good, but not outright unstoppable like Agnika was.
>>
>>24060891
What if the bullets were made of gundam metal?
>>
>>24060891
iirc in the show they said Bael got put in storage in the exact state it was back when Agnika fried his brain so the swords could have been on the verge of breaking from overuse anywys
>>
That Urdr Hunt cutscene movie wasn't half bad, all things considered. Sure could've used some fresh animation in place of cut gameplay but it did kind of fix one of my biggest gripes when it comes to IBO, that being the never ending slice of life sludge that plagued the main series. No fellating Orga's Little People's Workers' Paradise for almost entire length of an episode, again and again, was to be found here, even with a Tekkadan fanboy on board.
>>
>>24061557 (Me)
>No fellating Orga's Little People's Workers' Paradise for almost entire length of an episode, again and again, was to be found here, even with a Tekkadan fanboy on board.
Case in point, the short that came with the above was almost exactly 1/3 found footage of Barbie kicking ass as usual while Mika complains that katanas are pain in the ass to use, 1/3 slice of life wordbuilding dialogues that I didn't particularly care about but which did solve the ever present in the viewer's mind mystery of where Orga got his stylish funeral suit and 1/3 ending credits sequence.
>>

>>

They mention that Agnika "Disappeared" and Bael ceased to work all but implying the AV implant basically consumed him. They also mention that previous people tried to reactivate Bael in the past but Mcgillis was the first person it actually turned on for meaning there was possibly something to his ranting about being Agnika's second coming after all.
>>
>>24063699
I never understood the "disappeared" part fully. At first I thought he just fucked off and didn't want to be seen again and pulled an Obi Wan to go die as a hermit, but after Ein's bullshit then I thought maybe he literally got his body absorbed into the Bael and half expected him to start talking to McGillis in the cockpit

In the end nothing was actually answered
