>>24053672Upon rewatch, I didn't hate Nightscream. His looks were the most offensive thing about him. He was just the inexperienced and naive kid. Basically the Cheetor role now that Cheetor has grown out of it. And unlike most BM characters, he wasn't pre-established, so they couldn't character-assassinate him.
I wonder if the exec who demanded they do a direct sequel but forbid the writers from watching the source material is the same one who thought it was a good idea to kill Optimus in the movie.
Did anything ever chase up the BM ending? Because it feels like almost everything since has sort of gone it's own way and nothing really followed up that ending. Not that I'm sure you could. It was pretty final.

The Legends manga says Rhinox got revived eventually, and that BWII, Neo, and Car Robots take place thousands of years after Beast Machines. There's also a convention comic that shows that Cheetor eventually becomes an elder named Alpha Trizer.

I wouldn't mind if they had the balls to actually have him usurp Megatron as the villain, but the whole plot thread is used so cheaply, like a minor distraction.

Plus his arc amounted to nothing. He just dies after a season of build up and that's it. And Optimus is the only one who seems sad about it at all.

BW Rattrap would have joked about it at every time he could and transformed into a rat to climb ladders and stairs.

>>24060460Didio's MO was basically the same across all the stuff he did: soft reboot the premise (BM and countless DC reboots), fire the previous creatives, put the characters into a meat grinder (Reboot and BM), age up the kid appeal character (Cheetor, Matrix, Impluse, Jon Kent) and make the premise darker and edgier (BM and Season 3 of Reboot and of course DC for his entire decade long tenure there). The man was creatively bankrupt.
