I want to get into Appleseed, what's the best way to go about it? Presumably I start with the original manga, but what comes after? Are the various animated installments just retellings of the manga or new stuff? Is there a read/watch order? Anything I should skip?
>>24057895It's very straightforward, just read the manga, don't forget about Hypernotes for supplemental material. There's a prequel manga about Deunan's dad out there, but I'm not sure it's translated. All the adaptations diverge quite a lot from the source material. The OVA's okay, the movies are CGslop.
>>24057895Just do it.
>>24057895>but what comes after?Kanto Earthquake.
>>24057895The manga. I also recall the first 2 CG movies being solid.
They are currently selling the compilation of the original manga through dark horse and I highly recommend. The manga is great and as a shirow follower I believe it's his best.Dominion comes after it canonically none of the TV shows or movies connect to the original manga at all, as they are all retelling. Just as the Ghost in the Shell stuff used to be until this year.By the way the original OVA and all the CGI stuff sucks. XIII is the only one palpable you must read the Manga.
What did Shirow mean by this?
>>24059393The irony as Deunan is half black.
