Some of you might remember /mvn/ from around 2015. It’s finally got a playable Alpha made from what I thought was lost project files (found a hidden Dropbox and archives!). I wanted to come back and show where it ended up after all this time.Life got in the way for sure but as a contributor since 2007 I felt like I have to finish it, and like all my projects I keep all the story and characters around in my head. What started as a team effort quickly fell into my sole responsibility. Recently I’ve been turning that old material into something people can actually start to play! You play as Shiro Amata, a pilot trainee aboard the CSS Via Argentum. The prologue follows his training and life aboard the ship, his choices, exploration and a cockpit simulation. There’s also an optional tactical exercise, though that part is still a rough prototype that I've only is a proof of concept if anything. The story and cast are the main focus. I want the machines and military setting to really matter and be very appropriate for your decisions, while giving you reasons to care about the people they affect.Free Windows Alpha 0.1:https://digifluxstudios.itch.io/exaldAI assisted with finishing visual assets, sfx, programming. The original story, characters and creative direction are mine and everything is based on content voted/submitted back in 2015. It feels nice seeing placeholders become more and more complete. One hurdle was expecting a lone artist to redraw everything in the same style for thousands of potential images. If anyone plays it, I’m interested in whether the opening holds your attention, which characters stick with you, and whether the cockpit sequences work... or if its too cringe by today's standards. Specific criticism would help. Thanks /m/!Took a while, but I’m glad there’s finally something playable to show.Shout out to alto, someguy, sasugageroll, RG, nick and many others that helped out!
>>24066700Was this the one with Hank Hill as the protagonist?
>>24066703No actually! This was directly after we were given that plot twist. I still have that VN saved its like a 3 minute read the OP never returned. This uses some of those characters for a more coherent story /m/ worked on.We expanded the ideas and worked with world building over the next few months.
makes me miss the old /m/ draws days from around then as well. those were the good days
Yeah! There was some very passionate and creative artist on this board. They really inspired me and I liked that all skill levels were accepted too.
