I was playing an undercover Steel Ranger knight who had had a supremely shit time of it and she was a rebellious teenager coming to terms with the fact she was going to have to lead her people some day and my guy essentially became the stern uncle who really wanted her to live up to her potential. I get the impression that my guy was sort of the only one who really challenged her on stuff and she grew to respect that, especially since he was straight up with her about it; most everyone else in the party was a bit of an enabler. We had a whole bit where they met up for drinks one day and the gryphon dropped that she was going to enter into the local underground arena because she felt she had to put everything 'on the line' to prove to herself she could handle the tasks ahead of her. She hadn't told anyone else yet, including the other party member she was in love with. My guy tried hard - really hard - to talk her out of it. He eventually told her about his own father's death in the ring, which is something he hadn't spoken about with anyone (including the other PC he was also in love with...) and they had a big heart to heart over it. In the end he couldn't talk her out of going into the ring but he did at least get her to talk with the others about it, and her girlfriend threw down with her on fight night. My dude was in the stands with a rocket launcher in case things went south but luckily that wasn't necessary. I hope that game picks back up someday but our GM had to take an extended break for personal business. Currently I'm running my own game set in an AU Manehattan but I haven't had anything super zany happen in that one yet. Except maybe the diamond dog that is doing her best to fuck as many NPCs as she can get her paws on. One of the PCs has inadvertently set off a Doomsday clock that entails the Steel Rangers coming in to fuck everyone's day up but I don't expect that to be relevant for at least a year IRL.

Pretty much anything is viable in FO1 but in 2 taking heavy handed or not maxing agility is just a terrible idea.

Someone else in the group is going to try and run an FoE thing in Mophidius' 2d20 Fallout system. He's brewing up all the pone stuff right now so I guess we'll see how it goes.

PF2e's normal guns are all matchlock and early gunpowder fare so it doesn't play nicely in the Fallout setting as-is. Starfinder 2e and Pathfinder 2e (who are both made by Paizo and intended to be compatible with each other) seem like they make your best out-of-the-box solution unless there's a fan game rolling around out there that I'm unaware of. Starfinder handles the guns and laser and gun-handler characters while PF2e handles your casters and alchemy and stuff. There's a fucking tome of DA RULEZ you'll have to learn but PF2e does have an intro module you can try to get a hang of it, and it's not really that complicated - Paizo just has a lot of edge cases accounted for.

Hello everypony! I'm releasing the accessibility edits for Dead Tree Studio's Fallout Equestria PnP books early. Along with being bookmarked, these PDFs had it's text turned white and it's backgrounds removed and turned black. You will also find that The Locked Safe and The Overmare books had their storage sizes significantly reduced due to the removal of their backgrounds (which had hundreds of objects on every page). I plan to work on the other books too eventually, and I even got permission from one of the writers from Dead Tree Studios to release these edits and share them freely. Early chapters it was worse, but for majority of the fic Horizons was better. And I think the that prose quality and emotional stuff was very high for early 2010s fanfic in general.The ponies in Project Horizons feels more alive and real. I think Fallout Equestria also was trying to be more like the show so the characters were more archetypal and pony-like or something. That being said, the plotting is repetitive and feels strange.Project Horizons has strengths and weaknesses, while Fallout Equestria is a story that's balanced without much flaws, but lower highs. That's my opinion.

Im so excited, this weekend im going to run fallout equestria using xp to level 3's fallout ttrpg. It seemed the most simple out of all the TTRPG options I could find which is important since my players are all DnD nerds.The sessions going to be about this radio station broadcasting a water caravan is going to arrive in this town, so everyone (including the players) come. However, the caravan never arrives and violence breaks out in the town, so the players have to find the DJ, who tells them the caravan already knows the caravan is gone but if the truth gets out the town will collapse into riots so hes lying to buy time. Its then gonna be upto the players to recover the water from whatever got the caravan and larp as the traders going to town with the water while hopefully doing the DJ a solid. Its just going to be a one shot, but im hoping they all love fallout equestria and if they dont im gonna find a group that does!

The first thing the players noticed were how twitchy and on guard everypony was around town, as the caravan was running several hours late at this point. As tensions grew, a young foal bumped into each party member in a paperboy outfit giving them a letter that had directions to where DJ Velvet Static was broadcasting her station. The party, noticing the rising tensions and wanting to get out of the crowd followed the directions. In the radio station, they found Velvet Static a nervous wreck, and her assistant Hemmick just as nervous desperately trying to contact the Water Caravan on their long range radio. Hemmick told the party about their situation; they had expected way less ponies to show up and the Water Caravan had been MIA. They feared there would be a slaughter and their radio station would be first to the assault and desperately needed help. Thanks to the parties scientist unicorn, Vulzal Bec, they were able to fix the long range radio in order to receive an SOS location from the caravan.Upon arriving, there was 3 guards left and no water, the raider pegasi Stardust Saber wanted to behead the guard after he refused to share info, with the ex Talon tanky merc gryphon seconding the notion. However out of an act of kindness from the Unicorn, a healing spell was cast on the last living guard who gave them a map to where the caravan had actually been ambushed. The Zebra martial artist, alongside the pegasi marksmen used survival to track down the caravan after finding the site of the ambush having no new leads but dead ponies and spent ammo.They finally found the Water Caravan, one of the carts had broken down leaving the "raiders" stuck on how to get the water back home. Everyone set up to pounce on the raiders expecting a fight, and while everyone sucessfully did so the unicorn stumbled on their own raggy clothes and alerted the raiders. With the suprise out of the bag, combat ensued. The raiders were well armed, and more organized then your typical band of baddies. But the party didn't care, and after the ex talon operator got their wings almost severed, and deffinately mutilated by a crackshot raider with a vermit rifle, they didn't take too kindly to the last remaining raider (They wiped the floor, It was my first time with the system and balanced it so poorly ahaha). >>43264244Sadly, the last raider was killed, despite explaining they aren't raiders and are actually part of the Felmeadow Militia, who wanted to rob the caravan to get their own towns water back as according to them, the caravan used debts and confusing economics to practically rob the town of all their water leaving them to die. The players however, did NOT give a shit, and took the caravan back to Sunny Shoals to a huge payday by the towns folk, and befriending the DJ Velvet Static who broadcast their "heroics" for some time, while also broadcasting the news of Felmeadows demise as a town.Im suprised/saddened my players were so insanely unpathetic and blood thirsty, but it was the ones that hadn't really played a tabletop before so it was uhm.. *kind* of expected i guess. :)(pt2/2)

It was a less roleplay focused one shot to just see if the mechanics of xp to level 3's fallout system with the FoE supplement worked well, and it really did! Despite 2 been completely new to TTRPG's they pretty easily got the hang of things.

You're not gonna get rich and its gonna upset a lot of ponies but it would prevent a riot, while also giving Felmeadow enough to survive on their own. So instead of getting a lot of caps or doing a very good thing, you barely get any caps and do something kinda good i guess. Which I felt to be a very fallout like story CxPlus, its not like Felmeadow were all good, if they went to the town they would of seen its a lot of slave labor they bought from Red Eye, and then that would of been a whole other thing .

With no water saved up, they cant water their crops and will have to leave town. :) Although thats as far as I thought about it. I think if we play again, which they all wanted too, the next session will revolve around refuges from felmeadow causing trouble in a town, and will be a lot less morally ambiguous!

How to boop an alicorn:The party, having first snuck into Filly, got into Stable Recovery since they knew Red Eye had just found a stable with a part of the Main Quest Magic Dohickey in it. All that was quite easy, as was getting through the stable despite all the... workers in it. No, the problem was getting out. Well, was, until the tag along NPC who everyone thought was going to betray them pointed out he knew a way out - a smuggling tunnel.But, perhaps a bit too conveniently as the party did have their own plan for getting out of Filly (multiple, in fact), the Lightbringer just happened to cause a riot. That provided ample cover for the party to make their great escape through the tunnel.Except the tag along NPC who everyone thought was going to betray them... betrayed them and it led into a trap! Still, nothing a few tokens of friendship and some ludicrous additive talents in a system not designed for additives couldn't solve. And hey, the party was now in possession of a suit of power armor! Nobody knew how to use it, but the group medic took it anyways. All's good that ends well, right?Well, not quite. In the about ten minutes since disappearing from Filly, Red Eye himself had mustered his entire army and had surrounded the building the smuggling tunnel led to, where the whole big fight had just happened. Except, Unity itself wants something from the party and some alicorns struck a deal to get 'em out to meet the big wig herself. What exactly she (it? they?) wants remains to be seen.
