TTRPG! Editionprevious thread: >>43108463Fallout Equestria, a story that bleeds two franchises together to build something magical. On one side, you have death, destruction, decay, and misery - on the other, you have ponies. Doesn't sound like it should mix? You'd be surprised. When the world around you is wasteland, all you're left with is hope, and as we all know, ponies can do spectacular things with just a little hope.Read Fallout Equestria by Kkat to appreciate the setting that many writers have then lent upon after being so captivated by the wonders. The original story which spawned its own fandom can be found here: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/119190/These next four stories comprise the rest of what is considered "the big 5", alongside the original. They were biggest hitters early in the fandom, be it for having started before many others, their length, or overall quality.>Project Horizons:https://www.fimfiction.net/story/208056/>Pink Eyes:https://www.fimfiction.net/story/931/>Heroes:https://www.fimfiction.net/story/662/>Murky Number Seven:https://www.fimfiction.net/story/47300/Though, a reminder; just because these are the most well known, that isn't to say that there aren't other stories out there! There are many hidden gems that simply don't get the love they deserve purely because people don't give them the chance. Why not open your heart and try to find a new favorite? I wanted to be the first bump.
>>43178033I don't really have time atm to write a long bit but I found it very amusing that the last time I had a PC (I'm currently GMing) that he became very good friends with the party's gryphon tribal princess. I was playing an undercover Steel Ranger knight who had had a supremely shit time of it and she was a rebellious teenager coming to terms with the fact she was going to have to lead her people some day and my guy essentially became the stern uncle who really wanted her to live up to her potential. I get the impression that my guy was sort of the only one who really challenged her on stuff and she grew to respect that, especially since he was straight up with her about it; most everyone else in the party was a bit of an enabler. We had a whole bit where they met up for drinks one day and the gryphon dropped that she was going to enter into the local underground arena because she felt she had to put everything 'on the line' to prove to herself she could handle the tasks ahead of her. She hadn't told anyone else yet, including the other party member she was in love with. My guy tried hard - really hard - to talk her out of it. He eventually told her about his own father's death in the ring, which is something he hadn't spoken about with anyone (including the other PC he was also in love with...) and they had a big heart to heart over it. In the end he couldn't talk her out of going into the ring but he did at least get her to talk with the others about it, and her girlfriend threw down with her on fight night. My dude was in the stands with a rocket launcher in case things went south but luckily that wasn't necessary. I hope that game picks back up someday but our GM had to take an extended break for personal business. Currently I'm running my own game set in an AU Manehattan but I haven't had anything super zany happen in that one yet. Except maybe the diamond dog that is doing her best to fuck as many NPCs as she can get her paws on. One of the PCs has inadvertently set off a Doomsday clock that entails the Steel Rangers coming in to fuck everyone's day up but I don't expect that to be relevant for at least a year IRL.
>>43178108Ok, here you go! /)
>>43178033The cover is quite busy. What is this campaign about?
>>43178902it's the cover of a homebrew rulebook for the old mlp ttrpg, I don't think it's really related to a campaign
>>43178033Not a TTRPG, but I've been doing a completionist playthrough of FO2 and it's fucking exhausting. So much of the game feels slapped together and not cohesive, the random encounters in particular are awful. Was thinking about a slutty mare run as Pip with high charisma + sex appeal but after this I don't think I'll touch 2 again for a long while.

>>43178904Ah, thanks.
>>43179239>wanna go through the first two FOs>bounce off FO1 after three hours every timeSomething in my brain does not freaking work with how the map tiles are set up. I manage to get lost just wandering around Junktown. I'm gunna fucking do it someday, but for now I'm going to start my 7th TTW playthrough and punch some Deathclaws in the face or something. What exactly makes the FO2 stuff feel off though? Is it just a bunch of lolsrandum stuff? I'd heard FO2 was quite a bit zanier than FO1 but I sorta assumed that was mostly about how silly Reno could be.
>>43179864>I'd heard FO2 was quite a bit zanier than FO1NTA, but it is. FO1 nails the dark post apoc tone perfectly. FO2 misses the mark a bit in this regard because of the lolrandom stuff.
>>43179864It was a rushed sequel, and it shows. Reskinned 'mk 2' armors and new weapons that don't really fit in the world, badly designed and tuned random encounters, every other NPC conversation sounds like it's taken from a 90s action movie. It's all over the place.Kinda funny how much minmaxing character creation advice comes from trying to overcome FO2's massive difficulty spikes. Pretty much anything is viable in FO1 but in 2 taking heavy handed or not maxing agility is just a terrible idea.
>>43180387>badly designed and tuned random encountersThank you. So I'm not the only one who had this problem with those.
>>43179502This is what overcompensation does to a mare.
>>43180466The disparity in random encounters between 1 and 2 is absurdFO1 encounters>3 radscorpions>lose a turn searching for water>2 raidersFO2 encounters:>firing squad of 8 raiders with auto shottys>completely surrounded by 15 wolves>6 man Enclave patrol with gauss/plasma gunsAnd that's not even counting the special encounters...
Why didn't they just purchase a bunch of hand mirrors to defeat the Pegasus Enclave? Are they stupid?
>>43180759Also uhhhh
>hfw the gambler of the group gets a highroll streak just after picking up the Bloody Mess quirk
>>43180779Gamblerhorse has a little something on his... uh, neck.
>>43180843That's not the gambler. That's just the other party member who happened to be around to see it happen.
>>43180872Ah. Well they should probably find some time for a shower.
>>43180779Jesus Christ, what happened to the pony on the stove?
>>43180968Oh, that one.The gambler passed a charm check to make him put something (buttons) in the oven by claiming that makes drugs, then followed after him after a while with the pony you see in the pic. The two of 'em then shoved the raider into the oven and held it closed until he was well done. The entire encounter was utterly unnecessary as this group of raiders was content to just do raider things in the mess hall like abuse some of the non-raider slaves, drink, and party without bothering the players at all.>>43180883>shower>in a stable full of raiders>in the middle of Filly>in the Wasteland
